Greatness personified! To me, anyone loving the game of golf was very lucky to have witnessed Seve in his prime. I started playing golf in the summer of ‘79. Seve won the Open that year and was my golfing hero from that day forward.

You have to play the game to know how difficult a shot that chip was especially with the whole golfing world watching and with the title on the line. Incredible talent and greatly missed.

I PLAYED FIRESTONE FOR 35 YRS. HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING SEVE QUITE A BIT AND FOLLOWED HIM ON EVERY HOLE SEVERAL TIMES. NICEST GUY YOU COULD EVER MEET...

I was there too, the first golf tournament I attended. I was 11, and my Dad & I travelled up from Devon on the Friday evening. It was overcast but dry when we woke up the next morning, but by the time we got to the course about 9am on Saturday the rain had started & it never stopped. We spent the afternoon at Blackpool Pleasure Beach getting soaked. I remember being at the practice area on Sunday when Wadkins holed-in-one behind us at the first, and mistook the crowd roar for an aeroplane overhead! We followed the last few groups around the whole course. On Sunday we sat in the stands the whole day to the left of the 18th green watching all the players finish, but mainly being glued to the leaderboard as Seve & Price pulled away. So I had a great view of the finale - what a memory.... (and a day off school, thanks to my very sympathetic headmaster!)

If you show the chip from Faldo from near the same area, Faldo got it to 2 ft away. Seve got within Faldo's chip. That's a touch of class

Seve was a sporting genius. It was a tragedy he never lived to enjoy all the deserved adulation into old age. He missed out on what Arnie had and what Jack and Tom Watson still have
