I loved Dennis so much. His speaking voice makes me miss him more than anything! Rest in peace beautiful soul. I loved the reference to "Pop Hinsche" Billy Hinsche's father. Dennis was so brilliant and so interested in philosophy.
Pete Fornatale and WNEW were great advocates for the BB's. Anytime they could have a Beach Boy on , they would. I love this album and it's too bad the group as a whole didn't support this effort. Dennis was going to tour but it fell apart, what a shame
Dennis is (I never say was, because while i listen to him, how can one say he's truly ever gone) so magnetic, and a vibrant beautiful soul. one might say he was the lothario of the group (he was) self destructive, (Unbelievably and unfortunately so) but if one casts the best image of a person and to have it radiate for all to see my explanation would be: Dennis Wilson had Soul, Compassion, and the Heart of a Lion. He is one of my all-time favorites, and i adored every second of this brilliant interview.
Wish I could have been trolling around manhattan beach in the 60’s early 70’s my life has been filled by the Wilson brothers music thank you Brian Dennis Carl
@@hudthestud6758 True. W/O Brian, there is NO Beach Boys. I hope for Brian's sake that he stays as for away from M.L. as possible for his own well being. He doesn't need any "Bad Energy" in his life anymore.
It's a shame career didn't work out well for him. POB was a great album. Dennis Wilson R.I.P could have been another Jim Morrision accept Dennis Wilson was better talker when it came to interviews.
One of my most vivid memories of the beach boys was in 1965 when I was 9 I was feigning being sick to get out of school and I was listening to my older brothers new BB album when one of the biggest earthquakes in washington state history hit and it put huge gashes in the record. He never forgave me for an act of god.
I wish that Dennis,Brian and Carl could have stayed sober and healthy, let Mike have The Beach Boys name and called themselves the Wilson’s and gone the direction that Pacific Ocean Blues was heading……what if!
@@jasonsrockrarities9314 Pacific ocean Blue is such a classic album.I Bet you got a lot more cool goodies for us in the can.I Feel it when someone is on the same music wavelength.Good to know that those great vibes came through!
Thank you for bringing a coherent and rational Dennis to us & TH-cam. I'm glad Pete F took the interest he did in the special work that Dennis was doing just before his decline. Gone, but not forgotten.
great interview. this is a real treasure to preserve. words of a Man who have LIVED and SEEN in 39 years more than many human beings who live 93 years. thank you for sharing.
If Dennis only knew that people would still be talking about him and loving him and his music almost 40 years later. Perhaps he would have had the strength to overcome his demons.
I wonder if Dennis had a love for blues music. I have only heard part of POB, sad to say i didn't know it existed until yesterday. I think i heard the first 5 so far. Dreamer was the one i was drawn to but their all good, there's a lot of songs on POB.
Dennis seemed very modest I know it was an accidental drowning but damn if he had stayed in rehab I would like to think he would still be here. 😔 And damn why did Carl have to smoke! 😔
Brian and Dennis smoked as well. Even if he'd cleaned up, it's unlikely that Dennis would have lived a full life. The damage done to his body from so many years of such heavy alcohol abuse would have likely caused complications down the road. It's a shame that his low self-esteem led to such deliberate self-destruction.
Carl along with his brothers are all geniuses ....the " Social" side sadly but obviously took its toll... easy to criticise but most would have been tempted in that time to indulge....still their fantastic songs, vocals, recordings and films leave us all with a fantastic legacy.....
Reading different articles thru the years that not long after this interview that Brothers Recordind Studio was sold. Therefore , the reasoning behind Bambu not being completed. The studio was almost like therapy for him. The getaway. In the midst of the second divorce from Karen Lamm Wilson was a strain. So the downfall began and spiraled til his death. We all on here are Beach Boys fans and therefore Dennis Wilson fans. He had energy, compassion and in general a caring down to earth soul. Talented but unfortunately went down the wrong paths of self destruction. Gone to soon.
I can't believe Dennis hung out with the Manson group......after knowing what the Manson group did to all people... I'm guessing he escaped them. And we're all happy that you did.
If this is 1977, then Dennis is 32 here and very coherent. In a couple of years by 1980, he was really on a severe downslide with the drugs, smoking, booze and recklessness. Self-destructive behavior is really such a waste, such a shame.
When listening POB was just good as Brian Wilson and Mike love solo albums. Shame Dennis Wilson Pacific Ocean blue wasn't a success, because it's a Superb Underrated Album. Dennis Wilson to me was a pit like another Jim morrision of the Doors. Beachboys. Beachboys may not agree that.
In the later years of his life, Dennis sang very hoarsely, no doubt due to substance abuse. This is especially apparent on Denny's recording of "All Alone"(from the BB's "Endless Harmony Soundtrack" CD), although Dennis never had the singing voice of a Pavarotti or Domingo.
When dennis was sober he was as sharp as carl and even more creative. So happy to have the music he made
Pacific Ocean Blue is masterpiece and that's all there is to it.
Agreed! Purchased it when it came out and still have it. 👍 played the crap out of the album.

So sad.
All of the "what if's" are maddening, and heartbreaking at the same time.

I adore "In My Room" and I loved hearing him talk about his own experience of it.

What a beautiful man, whom we lost way too soon.
I loved Dennis’ admiration for his brothers and he always looked up to Brian and Brian inspired Dennis on his album Pacific Ocean Blue.
Dennis was the man..

What a phenomenal interview and man. He is missed very dearly and will continue to be remembered for the rest of eternity
What a great interview! Oh how I miss Dennis and Carl!
Thank you for posting this. Dennis was a good person and loyal brother. POB is a great album.
BAMBU is amazing as well! Even in its unfinished state- some absolute masterpieces there 🤩
Agreed! Fantastic. 👍
All I can say is Dennis you are so real wish you could have controlled your demons. Thank you.
This is indeed the way that I prefer to remember Denny. If Carl was the heart (he is) of the Beach Boys, then Dennis was it's Soul.
He was THE REAL Beach Boy.
Beautiful interview, serious, direct. Dennis comes alive through this. God bless.
DW DOES sound totally together------------sober & clear------------makes this a remarkable contribution.
Love Dennis and Carl so much! There is no Beach Boys without them. It's just Mike Love and his back up band.
Don’t forget Brian! He’s amazing as well.

EXACTLY!!! So frustrating it went the wrong direction.
According to Brian, he never heard POB until last year or so.

This is an amazing look into the lives and creative process of Dennis and the other Beach Boys. Thank you so much!

A super interview before Dennis became acholic & strung out on drugs. A very, straight forward Interview.

Awesome
It's a great album musically, even given Dennis' rough voice
He was around 33 here
No one ever interviewed more honest than Dennis. He wouldn’t even know how to be insincere.
On pourrait presque confondre la voix de Dennis avec celle de Carl, certaines inflexions vocales......
What were the two things "in the can"?
Animal House and the Silver Surfer movie. Neither came to fruition obviously.
what an incredible waste to lose him so early, someone should've picked him off the street.

Such potential unrealized. Saddest story in rock music.

Man, Dennis really went to shit from just after around this time. He sounds so together here at the releasing of his solo album so sad.

He definitely needed therapy. But after the experience his older brother had, he probably wasn't going to try it.
17 years? Loocy, you have some 'splain' to do.
47 years. And, Dennis Carl STILL rocks.

Part of the reason he sang hoarsely was because he was assaulted badly by Stan Love and Rocky Pamplin
