I am not saying the biker isn't in the right but he will be dead right or in a wheelchair from one dumb driver. Lane splitting just increases your chances ten fold. Especially when there are side streets and cars leave enough room for oncoming traffic to be able to turn left in-between the gap. Neither the bike or the vehicle can see each other until it's too late.

I ride all the time and race but filtering is stupid. I've seen to many videos of guys getting hit by a car, who very obviously couldn't have seen the biker behind the bus he was "filtering" by. At a stop signal or very slowly moving traffic jam conditions is one thing but down a busy street in FLOWING traffic is unneeded and stupid.

What kills me about bikers in other counties and here in California is, just because its legal to lane split doesnt mean you HAVE to squeeze between every car or that we HAVE to let you through. If theres an opening, take it. If not, get in line with the rest of us.

Laced_ IntentionZ in California you can only lane split if the traffic is at a complete stop but bikers still do it while everything is moving so idk but hopefully they get hit and buy a car like a real adult

7:19 is partly the bikers fault, if you can’t see the drivers mirrors then they most likely can’t see you and most semi trucks/tractors don’t have a rear view mirror like most cars
isiahiscool2000 that would be true 10 years ago. Semi’s and tractors or other large vehicles are equipped with a camera on the back to see when they’re backing up.

most vehicles that have cameras are hidden under the license plate. if not they are inside or right on the edge of the bumper or tail light

I don't have a problem with lane splitting. Just it would be nice if they can do it slowly. And stop being mad when a car attempts to switch a lane just because it is inconvenient for them not to go through. Because it's more inconvenient for a car to be stuck in traffic rather than a bike who had to literally either slow down or stop for like a second

lane splitting is mainly used by bikers for the fact of not being in the lanes and getting rear ended or taking up extra space on the road its a safety maneuver

I live nearby a bunch of backwoods 2 lane roads and they'll be riding on them blocking traffic early in the morning or when rush hour is at its peak. Either find bike trails/paths, your neighborhoods, or streets less populated not during busy hours.

I've got over 50 years of MC riding exp, thousands and thousands of miles on the street, thousands of hours riding and racing in the woods, MX, FT, TT, etc, etc, etc! You will never convince me lane splitting is good idea for anybody!
Anyone that chooses to ride between cars gets 0 sympathy from me when they get hurt. Not to mention how dare they talk to drivers about breaking any rules on the road when they themselves are also breaking rules. Also to those that think bicycles need to be on the sidewalk, take your diving test again and see if you pass or fail that question. Truth is that its illegal for bicycles to be on the sidewalk, people that know the law know this, and bicycles have just as much right to be there as the rest.

I don't know how it works in your country but, where I'm from, bicycles are supposed to be on the road *next to the curb* and lane splitting is a way for bikers to get ahead of traffic and not get rear ended.

Why do bikers think that because they choose to ride a bike that they own the road? You put yourself at risk by lane splitting and not slowing down.

I live in a place where lane splitting isn’t legal and obviously not allowed. When I was in Europe, France specifically, I biker broke my mirror because I left him too little space. He had room to go by, and did just that moving at around 40km/h but he felt the need to take my mirror with him. In a place where lane splitting is legal are you meant to leave an exorbitant amount of room, or should you just leave a decent amount out of respect. In other words, is it seen as a privilege or a right by bikers?

Bikers need to remember drivers are under no obligation to accommodate their lane splitting. If you can't filter through because there's no room that's just something you'll have to live with. Be patient and wait until you can. If the vehicles are within their designated lane markings there's no law been broken. Chill the fuck out with your butthurt ego mirror hitting.
Honestly bicycles and automobiles don't mix. I've seen more cyclists break the law than automobiles (i.e lane splitting/filtering, driving through red lights, etc). Who thought that it would be a good idea to prohibit them from riding on sidewalks, so lets put them on roads with metal vehicles driving at much faster speeds.

I honestly get too scared to lane split in traffic because I know that when I’m driving a car the bikers sneak up out of nowhere even if I am being very attentive to the road. I know they won’t notice me until last second so I only lane split if there is light traffic.

Lane splitting is really dumb. Bikers are too impatient to just follow traffic, nope they got a smaller ride so they get front of the line just cuz they can.
