Thanks for the great insight and coverage, it’s almost as the UCI coverage gets worse, you, Wyn and Bernard get better and better at telling the true story.
Thank you. Without your breakdown, we would have no idea what actually happened. With coverage stuck behind a paywall, and so little decent footage released on TH-cam, this year has been absolutely terrible for the fans . I really hope next year is handled better
Good point. I think the issue for most people is that we have to subscribe to a service for only one piece of content. Most of us already pay for multiple services. It's tough to add one more just to watch a race. There is nothing else on Discovery plus that I am interested in watching. They are the wrong people to own the rights
@@CM9999999999many did think about that. But the owner of the rights made mistake after mistake. No great content to hype the product and please the fans before the Saison. Not even a clear way how to see the content safe. Presenters without any vibe of the sport. And so on. Do a subscription at this point now does not feel like a support of the sport, it feels like a investing in the wrong persons to this great sport.
@@oliverbourne9599 I have no interest in the tissues either. But a few quid to watch all the DH and enduro is enough for me. It’s less than the cost of a beer per race
good content as always. i enjoyed how u are (being allowed) to use uci race footage. but the quality was super and preferred the shots that i would assume pinkbike bot for yall. cheers!
biggest gripe were the camera angles used for first 50 riders. would love to have seen the nasty rock garden and not the triple. (i do work in tv and ive been watching since the freecaster days haha)
It has been an issue often before, even in the early 1990s in Kaprun. Organization changed rules. Riders played with the rules, like Matti Lehikoinen at Champery.
Daprela got so so lucky with perfect timing rain , if everyone starts in same dry condition he would not win , maybe top5. remind me Matti Lehikoinen play tactics with quali in Champery in 2007 (?) ,shame that Hill got horrible conditions, in dry mountain he would kill time and other competitors 😅
Maybe gotta have the junior races/finals the day before let the pros have Sunday to themselves… sort of like American football where the collage games are on Saturday and the pros are Sunday…
It's a mountain sport - and there should be contingency plans....look at Downhill ski-ing.....it happens numerous times during the season. I actually think the fastest qualifiers get to choose their position, rather than going last.
Wicked filming and production as always, but it's a shame that the entire junior and elite women's coverage is crammed into a short 50 seconds of a ten minute video.
Juniors are pushing the elites, it's going to get really interesting in the coming years. Did they wait too long to start the racing, could they have started earlier so that the top 10 seedings would have raced in the dry?
If they got rid of the stupid semi finals, went back to 3minute gaps and broadcast the top 30 but let the top 70 qualifiers run (basically put downhill back how it should be) then it would all work out a lot better. I can see what they tried to do but it hasn't worked imo, the fact Adam Brayton and other top tear riders can now no longer even enter due to lack of points combined with the woeful viewing figures on the semi finals points to the new system being a failure.
I guess it's not UCI, it's Eso and Discovery channel. But UCI could not see that this group is not capable of handling development of this sport. But the sport had some issues before. Like the Andorra bridges and the riders union showed. I wish media could bring more transparency to the driving forces and the goals and handicaps all diffenrent players have with you this sport. It worth to talk about and any change of direction at the to levels influence the sport in whole. There had been ideas at races with large numbers of riders, which is a good thing, to present the best of the weekend battling in more fair conditions. Take a number of finalists out of the qualification. And make the semi finals a last chance qualification. No protection status for the final. Fans would watch the whole weekend, because in each run you could see happy riders. In the qualifications you can earn a huge safe of energy for the weekend. In the last chance you keep your hopes alive. In the finals it counts.
Dude they run in the rain pretty regularly, & shit can get treacherous because of it, but it makes it more entertaining & adds to the spectacle.. But what doesn't add to the spectacle is riders getting blown off jump landings by the wind.. As an armchair sportsman extraordinaire you might not fully appreciate how dangerous that can make things for no benefit whatsoever..
Thanks for the great insight and coverage, it’s almost as the UCI coverage gets worse, you, Wyn and Bernard get better and better at telling the true story.
Indeed my sources are Ben and Wyn
This is the general consensus. UCI coverage is horrendous.
Totally agree, the vlogs are the main coverage now.
And Ed Masters
And Moi Moi tv 👌
Sucked that the top riders got such terrible conditions but seeing Thibaut and Minaar winning was awesome.
Ya. Luck of the draw.
Boohoo
That’s racing in the mountains
I love watching Daprela as he always riding like it’s wreckers or checkers.
Daprela is a hooligan. Love seeing him win when he makes it stick🤟
Ben, AKA the best UCI Downhill analyst. Thanks for all you’re very well made video !!!
Hope Amy is ok. And hopefully you are all set to go find your speed next week. thanks for the roundups.
Thanks dude. Much better post race review than any others.
Thank you. Without your breakdown, we would have no idea what actually happened. With coverage stuck behind a paywall, and so little decent footage released on TH-cam, this year has been absolutely terrible for the fans . I really hope next year is handled better
Or you could pay the very small price and support the sport you love and watch it

I love the tahnee/nina dog 😂
That was horrific live
😅🤐
So horrific, the whole interview felt so awkward after that
As always, fantastic, bringing the actual reality and news of the race to us in a way only Ben can. Just awesome 👌
So happy for Nina. Such a sweet person and an incredible athlete.
"Don't you mean Tahnee"😂
Love these recaps thanks Ben!
Bruh!!!! Aimi put a beating on that tree.. hope she’s good and will be back for the next race
Love what you do bro thanx for your time!!!
Good luck in your first race back!
I always love these videos!! Keep them coming!
Good to hear you might be racing next week, have fun, stay safe ... er .. balls to that let it go ... ;)

Great summary! Thanks
good luck PBRteam.
It's been sunny and dry the last 6 weeks in NZ, average daily temps of around 15 degrees centigrade.
Better than the UK summer and we are in winter..
cant wait to watch this always great videos!
Cathro is from Scotland. He's used to sunshine followed by the dreich.
Love this story of race..
Why was this track called Vallnord last year and Pal Arinsal this year?
Valnord is the name of the ski resort and Pal Arinsal is one of the sectors
@@lagosta80 Thanks 🙏
Thanks for covering the event , better than UCI . I finally found out what happened to Jackson Goldstone . Flat tire . psssssssss
In such situations they should flip the order so the top qualifiers go first. This then becomes another perk to qualifying well.
I totally agree. That was my thought too, reverse the order and send top qualifiers down in better conditions.
This was done before at some smaller races and it worked out well.
"Determined German" - Well Done Sir. Well Done!
Part of the game. This ain’t baseball. Weather and track conditions are something you have to factor for.
Love this !!!!
Weird that weather has been such an issue lately. Wonder why that could be..
Lately? Weather on high altitude mountains is always unpredictable
I don't know let's see how about DARPA jack arse 🤔 the weaponization of weather has been going on since the 50s by the piece of shite us military

no mention for BK
Why skip over Tahnee, she still got third.

How about Reece Wilson at Leogang's world champs?
@@ZeroTalentCrew but what with him ? he made his title in totally shit conditions , same track for all competitors
Daprela has had 2 wins with the help of horrible weather halfway through the race. Today and 2021 Les Get.
He’s one of the fastest riders on the planet when he’s on it though.
Maybe gotta have the junior races/finals the day before let the pros have Sunday to themselves… sort of like American football where the collage games are on Saturday and the pros are Sunday…
No. DH is raced in the elements. Some of the best runs in history are in the rain. It's part of the job.
yoooooooooooo love you dude

No mention of BK and odd reference to Tawny? I’m not British but clearly a miss imho
Hahaha in the broadcast the presenter giving interviews after the race misplaced tanhee and called her nina hoffman
Oh, I turn off the sound during the broadcast. Seems like I made the right decision

It would also take over 3 hours to run just the men. No one is going to watch that long
Brayton got robbed
Can't wait for MSA in the snow ☠️
The UCI has killed DH this year for the fans. The coverage is horrible. Thank god for Wynn, BK, and Dean's ch.
