- We went to the Tinley Park NARBC and had a blast! This show's theme was "Undercover", so we attempted to hide under hats and fake moustaches. However, it didn't go quite as planned...

@@gecko2738 Actually she was over the moon excited and didn't flinch a bit. She has been a huge fan for a long time. Also Ed, seemed to be the last person to be scared of there. They are so genuine and nice!

When the fire alarm went off my family was standing at a Ball Python booth inside and everyone was just like 🤷🏻♀️, and kept shopping 😂. Only at Tinley.
I've had fire training in work ( compulsory training to work in Irelands health services) and our alarm went off in the office last week and everyone just looked at each other and carried on. If it was an actual fire we would be gone 😂😂

@@gecko2738 I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to meet them but even if I did I don’t think it would have mattered to me 🤷🏻♀️, I’m 5’7 and a lot of my family on my mom’s side is on the larger scale so I’ve never thought much about it.

I remember the first time I forgot underwear.. I was mortified because I was a teen at a sleepover xD My mom brought me some, but since then I've been a checklist packer so it hasn't happened over 10 years. I can't wait to see what the theme is at the next tinley! Everyone was so adorable in their mustaches.

@@meaganhelbig1824 it was right in the ballpark of what I expected to pay. I got a male who is almost a year old. He was priced at $750 but they were offering a 10% show discount so I paid $675.

y'all have super made me want to get a snake in general, but every time you post a convention vid my desire for a snek goes up by like 200%. Also I super love the blazer that the best dressed balls guy is wearing and I want it so bad. I love the idea of Emily and Ed having a fun time with the liquor storage, you two seem like fun people to party with. Ed looks like he's from the movie version of Clue. Adore the *beautiful* doggo who dressed up to meet you. Oh that's a cute quilt. Also forgetting to pack underwear is...maybe not normal but unless you're on your period you should be good. Also check out Sarah Milican's bit on "being cautious"
Make sure to do all your research when getting a pet snake, and I mean ALL, don't skimp out on humidity, enclosure size, proper feeder rodent size, enrichment, proper heating (NOT a heatmat, ceramic heat emitter or deep heat projector are fine, halogen is the best but you'd need a CHE for the night)
I don't recommend listening to snake discovery for all your advice, their advice is quite outdated and often incorrect, they also tend to treat their snakes more like objects than living creatures like most rack breeders so that's worth noting.
@@striderwhiston9897 could you suggest a better source for which to get information from? The internet is filled with misinformation, and if you don’t know what you’re looking for, it can be hard to know what to trust
@@striderwhiston9897 Have you seen their zoo? The work and care for their animals is off the scale. There’s nothing wrong with snake discovery’s info. You’re coming across as a bitter and jealous person and that’s not a good look. I hope you find peace soon instead of resentment. Wishing you love and light.
@@originalkitten Look at their care guides, they often recommend racks as a good enclosure, heatmats as the main heat source (terrible), and improper enclosure sizes.
Go through their guides, then go into groups with thousands of keepers who've been keeping reptiles for decades, most will say their advice is outdated.
Also owning a zoo does not = good advice, infact a lot of the species they cohabitate are not known for being very cohabitable and as most snakes get very stressed if they have to compete for space with other snakes, that's another reason why they're not perfect.
Remember, snake discovery prioritizes entertainment and profits the most, although they do care for their animals, they sacrifice some stuff for entertainment and profits (like i said), that's just how it works if you own a zoo or a youtuber, or both like snake discovery is.
Most reptile communities do not like herptile youtubers exactly for the reasons i stated above, clints reptiles and brian and NERD and such are often the most hated.
I will say that snake discovery is better out of the bunch, though.
@@originalkitten information is incorrect sometimes (at least in their old guides, but they havent uploaded any new ones) and looking back on those videos i disagree with a lot of the stuff but snake discovery is pretty solid and keep good care of their animals, but i agree that you shouldnt go to their current videos for care information

No matter how rough of a day I'm having, you guys always manage to make me smile. Thank you for the laughs!
Having been to several conventions where the fire alarm went off, two false and one real, you exit the building, like your supposed to do when a fire alarm goes off until you have the all clear to go back in. The complete lack of concern (from all those there) for what could have been an emergency situation is kinda terrifying.
When it's such a big open space with doors leading directly outside, you're going to almost always see the fire before you are even in a spot where you can't escape. My building has its fire alarm going off all the time and no one moves a muscle. I or my hubby will peer out of the door, after feeling if it's hot of course, and look for smoke, but if there is no smoke, chances are they will have the fire out waaaay before it ever gets anywhere near us. That said, at the beginning, we did pack up the cat, get dressed, grab a laptop and our impirtant documents and waited outside. After the third one went off that month, we stopped doing anything but touching the door carefully and glancing in the hallway.
All of this said, it is a MUCH better practice to leave the building if there is an alarm, in every case. Better safe than sorry and all that. It's just that in practice and reality fire justice isn't as scary as school teachers would have you believe, in most cases. But like I said, just in case this happens to be the one case where a fire spreads stupid fast, you happen to be unluckily in its path, and you didn't get out when you had the chance, it can be even more devastating than the craziest dreams you can conjure from teachers' fear mongering.
So yes, you are right, but because it's almost always minor, and no one got hurt staying put, it's not worth judging others over.

@@paranoiarpincess While I understand your perspective, I think it's important to be aware that most of the people reading these comments are children and likely don't have the cognitive ability to properly judge a situation involving a fire alarm. Probably not a good idea to tell people to not be concerned.
@@paranoiarpincess I do understand that, however its a large crowded public space, hotel or event center (not sure exactly what the Tinley park is) if the first reaction isn't to calmly exit when an emergency isn't immediately apperent when the warning system in place is going off, then if it happened to get serious a lot more people would probably get hurt. I was just really surprised that nobody seemed to react which caused Ed and Emily to just continue on. I'm glad nothing come of it but I've literally been in a room full of probably 500 people, have an alarm sound, have everyone get up and leave calmly until the building was cleared, and have that happen all over the event, where no large group was like 'eh it probably nothing' and continue on. To be fair I've also spent four years in dorms and know the frustration of false alarms.
Also Conda is my given last name and I used to hate it because I would be called anaconda a lot (do not have Ana anywhere in my name) and it wasn't done endearingly. Anacondas are however some of my favorite snakes now.
@@jessicaconda4825 I think you are absolutely right. And I don't think you were being judgemental. No matter how "safe" it may seem, the safest option is to *always* evacuate during an alarm. Just because it's a fire alarm doesn't mean it's a fire. Fire alarms get used all the time to simply tell people to evacuate.

I was so excited to meet y'all at Tinley. It was my first big expo and meeting you was the icing on the cake. Fellow fans, you will be happy to know Emily and Ed are just as sweet, kind, and wholesome in person as they are on camera! Also, Mustache Ed looks like the ice cream man in the Skrillex "Bangarang" vid.

If I could breed snakes, I would do one of two things:
1. Mojave Ball Python + Mojave Ball Python = Blue Eyed Lucys
BEL ball pythons are my bucket animal. Although now I want a bolens too my 2 shades are the deepest black you can get and the purest white, and my favourite colour is rainbow, so it's only fitting. My son and I are saving up for a BEL, we can nearly afford him. We've already named him Sans.
2. Breed piebalds and find a way to get them under Dāv Koffman's eyebals. Hehe, marketing strategy win!

Yay, Tinley!! This was the cutest one ever! Thanks to Ed and Emily, my husband is letting me buy 2 lavender hoggies this year to start my own breeding collection!! It wouldn't be happening without Snake Discovery helping him appreciate snakes more (he's terrified of them but he knows I love them) so thank you so much for everything you do!

I just watched the video with my kids... The fire alarm part is concerning ... Just because it doesn't seem like there's a fire doesn't mean you shouldn't evacuate. Regardless of what everyone else is doing, you need to evacuate and wait for the all clear to sound.
I grew up in Chicago, moved to upstate NY 4 years ago. I miss the Tinley show so much. 😢

Emily, if it makes you feel better about forgetting underwear, I went on a 2 week skiing trip and forgot to pack socks.
I once forgot clean bras in the middle of summer when it is SWEAT CITY in the Midwest. Thankfully I was in a big city and my hotel was connected to the parking lot of a Walmart.
I once traveled for 2 weeks internationally and forgot socks, too! Didn't really matter though, because my luggage got lost and I had to buy ALL new clothes....
