They cant make a sequel for this game. I would love to see an absolute remastered version of the game released onto PS4. I love playing this while growing up
Please, everyone that has played this game, we all know that this game should've done better than it did. but due to its poor release time, 3 months before the PS2 in 2000. This damn game deserves a second chance and given a remastering.
I would love a remake of it. Unfortunately the fanbase doesn't seem to stay united and ask loudly about this, all united. Instead they all go in their solo effort, and accomplish nothing. Sony will listen if 100k, 200k, 300k people ask about this, all together at the same time with a petition. For sure they won't listen 1000 or even 10k people. Please people we should unite together, plan a petition (among other things like fan made remakes like Spyro fans did, fan artworks ecc) and constantly update ourselves together in the Legend of Dragoon subreddit.
+MelbuFrahmeDrop Couldn't agree more. This game has a well deserved cult following without doubt, but it is sadly far from being as influential and proactive as some of other classic JRPGs (like Final Fantasy). The last time I visited the Legend of Dragoon wikia it had years abandoned. I would love to help in some way to rescue this series from oblivion. Fanmade works could be a great way to make it more known between the current generations.
Yeah basically fans of this awesome game aren't united but scattered. The obvious and right thing to do that i would think of is joining the Subreddit of Legend of Dragoon. The owner there is doing the same thinking as mine, basically wanting every fan to join and stay all unite under the same banner to be way stronger vocally. He/She would also like to improve the subreddit appeal by changing the image banner of the subreddit and the entire style of the page itself. It surely won't hurt to make it more modern. About The Legend of Dragoon remake, well i can say this: not all hopes are lost. I mean i think the remake is actually closer than what it seems. If not in this gen then i bet the next will see the arrival of the remake. Here is what is making me thinking this (obviously i cannot say it will happen 100%): Sony with the latest remakes in my opinion is testing the ground about what potential remakes holds. They gave us the remake of Crash Bandicoot (not they first hand but still it was a time esclusive PS4 game) and rumors about a remake of The Spyro trilogy, called Spyro Treasure Trilogy, is running wild. Apart from this we got other remakes of very old titles like Abe and Secret of Mana recently. But if we want to stay focuse on Sony then, just after Crash and seeing the huge success and potential of remakes, they delivered this year Shadow of the Colossus remake. One of the first party titles of Sony. Well now that is already interesting, seeing Sony remastering a huge and cult game as Shadow of the Colossus, and one of their first party game also. Apart from that they announced MediEvil Remake which will contain both Medievil 1 and 2. That is even more interesting because it's a game coming from the PS1 era, not PS2. These are all things that make us understand that Sony is interested in remakes other than new IPs. Now Bluepoint announced just recently that they are working on a new Remake! And they said that this remake will be even bigger than Shadow of the Colossus. Now if we think about Bluepoint studio working again hand to hand with Sony like they always did, then there are only a bunch of Sony first party titles bigger than Shadow of the Colossus and worth remaking. Well you guessed. People on the internet, especially on reddit, under the reddit post containing the announcement of Bluepoint, started mentioning two games left and right. Those were Demon's Souls and The Legend of Dragoon! That is really good. Even if will end up being Demon, or another game entirely that is still good. Because under that post they could see people talking about Demon Souls and The Legend of Dragoon. So they know what people want. So in my opinion it will just be a matter of time. Sony has a lot of IPs but if i have to think about remaking some of them the ones i would work on are: The Legend of Dragoon, Demon's Souls, Alundra, Legend of Legaia, Dark Cloud, Ico, MediEvil, Omega Boost, Rogue Galaxy and maybe White Knight Chronicles. I left out those still existing or already remastered/remade or those still too fresh and not even that successful (Heavenly Sword for example). As you can see there are a bunch of titles worth remaking, but yeah only 2 of them, apart Medievil already announced though, are big enough in both scope and success to surpass Shadow of the Colossus. Ico is too small compared to Colossus, Legaia and Alundra didn't get Dragoon success so it would be strange to work on those and not Dragoon, Omega Boost didn't get enough success, White Knight Chronicles i think it's still an active series. Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy could be bigger than Colossus if you think, but i still don't think they are working on those series yet. Also maybe they would work with Level 5 for those, not Bluepoint. Yeah only Demon's Souls and The Legend of Dragoon would seem to fit. Either way apart from all this speculation, eventually they'll remake it. They showed interest in remakes, so they'll do it eventually. I just hope remakes will continue getting successful, 'cause that is the only way to bring us closer to The Legend of Dragoon remake. Ps. Also i don't remember where i read it, but Sony also mentioned Tomba when talking about older titles and remakes. Maybe they'll bring back that awesome game!
+MelbuFrahmeDrop I'm not really into Subreddit, but I think I'll definitely take a look to that LoD community soon. Those news are very hopeful BTW. If Sony actually bothered to remaster another relatively obscure and forgotten franchise like MediEvil recently (seriously, I actually forgot it existed until just now. I don't remember seeing or hearing nobody talking about it for years), then LoD might be still an option for them, and even more if they actually see people openly asking for it. I think we fans must take advantage of the ocassion and spread the word about the game in that kind of announcements. I also hope that some future creative authors which could be fans of the game might help to keep it alive with references in their works. Maybe one could even dare to produce a full new adaptation (as a videogame or not) of it. Battle Angel Alita is a good example of how a not extremely popular series can have a sudden chance to shine again after many years, thanks to someone powerful who believes in it (in this case, James Cameron).
Damn that movie! It's in my list of movies to watch. I still have to do that though. I hope i can soon. Anyway yeah that is what i'm trying to do now with all those remakes. I'm trying to take advantage ot those situations to talk about Dragoon. Not all hope is lost...maybe the remake could be closer than what we expect. Let's keep the voice strong about it though.
I can honestly throw a dart at the dartboard, click a random fucking point in this video, and find a song that makes me remember every single detail of the level it was played on.
This game has one of the most passionate, loyal and dedicated fan bases ever. If your like me you grew up with this as your first real turn based rpg. Will favorite be my favorite rpg of all time. Goddamnit Sony listen up and make a sequel to this classic. Do whatever it takes I will support it.
@@tylernicoll5692 My favorite is still Breath of Fire 3 as it was my first RPG and a gift from my mother and stepfather(who I now just call dad), but Legend of Dragoon is definitely up there on my list of favorites
Best game ever made. Also one of the best game soundtracks ever. It's a shame it's been 23 years and we haven't got a prequel, sequel or even a remaster, someone dropped the ball on this.
I was in the 8th grade. 14 years old. I had never played an RPG on the Playstation. Heck, I didn't even understand English very well. I would go to class Monday through Friday and only then, on the weekends I could play videogames (my mom was kinda strict on that matter). I finished school early on Fridays so I got home around 1, had lunch and I swear from 2 to 8 I would play this game *nonstop* I didn't get bored, didn't get hungry, didn't get sleepy or tired. I played the hell out of this game... Until... I got to the Death Frontier... that damn desert was too big and full of traps, so it was impossible to get to the exit. In fact, I didn't. I got so frustrated not knowing what to do (remember: I didn't understand English) that I ditched the game. A year later, I decided to give it a go again. I systematically moved around the map; drawing the details on a notebook so as not to get lost in it. When I managed to get out of the desert, I was so happy I could cry. After that I kept on playing every Friday until I finished one of the best games of my life. The story, the characters, the music, the design... *ALL* of it is perfect to my eyes. Videogames *_do_* change lives. I can only dream of a sequel (I remember signing an online petition, lol) and it's kinda comforting to know I don't dream alone.
I had an issue with the 4th disk too. It was the codes that got me stuck. As a kid I didnt play it after that for a couple years. Then I played it again...got to the 3rd disk...my memory got erased...didnt play it again for a couple years. Then came back and took more of my time to play it...payed very close attention to the part I was stuck on...honestly I just had to read carefully. Lol I beat the game and it was so wondeful to beat it...it was like I was in the battle. I felt reborn after beating the game. Haha. Now I am going to play it tomorrow. Haha I am going to double slash this game.
Captain Velociraptor eh i guess its really a matter of opinion. i know some people didn't like certain games which is fine. i didn't like ff9 but i do realize quite a few did. Steiner ruined that for me. i enjoyed legends of dragoon. it wasn't my favorite game. ff8 still has that for me. as for some jrpgs i liked Agarest and Mugen souls. im sure there are others out there but the thing about the day when Legend of Dragoon came out. There were SOOO many titles that stood out but were not as popular as final fantasy. i loved fire emblem, Suikoden, legend of legaia, valiant hearts, i know i'm forgetting some because there were a lot of titles. each one of those games were great.
May 2024, Love this sound track so much. I actually FINALLY completed this game for the first time last year, even though I've played it to death since the early 2000's. The ending with Rose and Dart's dad is so touching.
Great to hear. Yeah a realyl good ending also with the bird who is checking out all the companions and then returning to Rose and Zieg´s "grave". Greetings
Me upon coming here: "Man, I don't know why I'm listening to this--I've played this game a million times and heard this soundtrack a million and one times." Me two seconds into the soundtrack: ^_______________^
Still playing this in 2024! As of September 10th i'm about to finally beat disc 4 for the first time! As a kid i did NOT have the skill or attention span to play all 4 discs, but as an adult I'm STRONGER!!! Very excited. Great game, great music : )
2:32:27 I will never forget you guys, you made my childhood, Dart, Rose, Shana, Hastchel, Meru, Kongol, Lavitz, Albert, Miranda... All of you were part of the most beautiful part of my life.
Deep comment I feel the same. My biggest complaint is you couldn't rename anyone. That was a cheap thrill for me. Seeing the name you come up with on screen at any dialogue
@@alb8486 back then having named characters meant voice acting. If we got to change their names it wouldn't have had voiced CGI cutscenes. I understand what you mean though, I always spent a long time thinking of creative names for every save file.
I picked my username Zieg about 15 years ago, and never looked back. LoD is still my favourite game of all time. Glad to see so many other old school RPG gamers who have good taste in games.
+Asher Wilkinson I agreed ! it's also the first video game I know ( and the only RPG ) using thé clic at thé right timing (sry i forgot the word) to create combo i feel fight are so much dynamic! ;)
+porteauloin This was Shuhei Yoshida baby back when he was mainly just a executive producer I wish he could bring the game back, definitely one of the best JRPG's on PSONE def better than FF7 in my opinion.
You know what still baffles me? It's been 20 years since this game came out, and I have not seen any other RPG where Defend reduces damage and restores health at the same time. Brilliant. And man, I love Boss Battle 1. So good.
What I love about that is you can essentially play the whole game with almost no health items (and once you get your Dragoons and the "transform everyone" option, absolutely no health items) so that if you want you can play the game using lots of items, or go no-item and focus only on your characters' abilities. Incidentally, defend not only reduced damage by exactly half and restored 10% health, it _also_ prevents all status effects.
Wild Arms 2 and I'm pretty sure the first one as well but it doesn't restore NEARLY as much HP as Legend of Dragoon. LoD makes Defend a tactical necessity through much of the game and it was all the more awesome for it. The combat was very visceral for an RPG on PS1.
Or another RPG that doesn't give you bottomless bags on purpose, an not because of memory limitations. Makes it interesting when you can only afford to carry so many health items so you have room for revives and status recovery items. Then add in the fact that the only magic you can do outside the dragoons is in item form that also takes up inventory space. Meru was my favorite because of her recovery magic, plus she was a decent hitter too.
26:57 My favorite song of all time, I don't care that I could quite possibly live to be even a hundred, when I was eight all those years ago I decided that this was my favorite song.
The nostalgia hits me hard with this one. First I played as a rental in 1999. Ended up just keeping it for 2 weeks till I beat it and paid the late fees. Bought it a couple months later cause I wanted to play again. I put it down for many years and then in 2011, my kids were born and I had many hours to waste at night waiting to feed them. So I beat the whole thing again while my new born twins slept over the course of 2 months or so. Love this game. I'm going to stream it soon. The world needs to fall in love with this.
Pretty good story bro. I loved this game so much, but I felt it wasn't as good from Disc 2 and onwards. Disc 1 however to me is better than every final fantasy from psx.
I did the same thing as kid. I rented it from Hollywood video so many times my parents ended up buying it for me. This was my first jrpg, and I cannot wait to share it with my own children when they are a little older.
@useful76 I can feel your story so clearly. Magic times. No internet, no trophies and so on, just pure fun. Now there is no surprise at all, we all can see trailers in HD on yt or even whole walkthroughs on day one. But back then, you never knew what you were going to get. I miss it, but maybe I just got old? Sorry my bad English, greetings from Poland!
I still come back to this video each year when I think about the OST. The Legend of Dragoon was one of my all time favorite PS1 games. I still play it every now and then and remember when I was a little kid who got this game for easter surprisingly. The only time I ever got a game for easter, and it was the best easter ever, I would of been 4 or 5 years old that time. As a result the sound track is super nostalgic to me, right next to the original three PS1 Spyro games
I know. Best RPG I have played, even all these years later. The music, the characters, the story... even the combat systems aged decently. LoD or LoD2 plz!
Although this game got bad reviews, its still one of my favorite games of all time. The story is like no other, the battling was excellent and the music topped it off perfectly
Morbutt I don't know if that assertion was totally wrong. People generally hold onto stuff like that, when it comes to games at least. Most newer FF games - mind you I'm not saying I'm a huge fan of their current games - are still being held to the "7 Standard" and when they aren't even sub-par to that, people complain. So in a time like that, where there were a ton of RPGs but the most popular was FF7, gamers - whether casual, critic, whatever - felt compelled to link everything back to that popularity, along with anything similar, anything different, anything done better, and anything done worse. But I personally could never understand someone rating Legend of Dragoon below FF7. I played both at an extremely young age and enjoyed both, and I still do. Both stories are still great to me, I like the music from both, I like most of the characters from both, I like the settings from both. However from my viewpoint, LOD holds so many more points over FF7. There's just a ton more sentimental value in LOD for me and I don't know why xD
Megan Dailey Being held to a standard is different from being a direct competitor. FF8 and FF9 were competitors to FF7 moreso than Legend of Dragoon, and those games still sold well. All I'm saying is that you can't cite FF7s success or following as the reason why Legend of Dragoon didn't sell well. Unless of course you honestly believe someone would pass on a game because it's not as good as a game they bought 3 years ago.
This game....it needs a reboot. It just does. There was so much potential, and still is, for it to blow the entire (non)Final Fantasy franchise out of the hearts of gamers. Especially given the recent onset of shitty FF additions.
I grew up playing this game and I still do play it from time to time. The best rpg of its time (My opinion) This game made rpg's fun to me because of the additions. They make you more part of the battle then just hitting a button. And oh my gosh the story was soooo good. It kept you hooked. There hasn't been a story as good as this one in a long time. They should still remake this game and maby make a prequel or a sequel either or im ok with. Im a game and art deign major, maby ill convince them to remake it if I meet them in the industry one day. lol. That hoax village theme tho. :(
I was thinking the same thing. Is fans need to get together, this game is to good to not get at least a remake. I have many ideas for a future game with new dragoons maybe we can share ideas and make this happen.
Its a start. I can really see this turned into an anime to get new people to jump on ship, then with an even bigger fanbase we can have talks about the remake, prequel and sequel (which we could animate as well). Just need a production company that believes in it.
Anybody else a game developer? We could make this on Unity. I am just starting out but can do any part of the development pipeline including modeling or art. No freakin way could one person make it by his or herself though. I vote for keeping the addition system but upgrading it to motion capture like Wii.
Just gonna throw my 2020 comment in here and say I've been replaying this on my Playstation and it still holds up. It's immaculate and should absolutely have a remake!
My all time favorite RPG. This has so many great memories attached to it now. My cousin introduced me to this game. When we were not playing this game on the play station we were outside playing it. He passed away way to young at the end of October. Thanks to this video I can play it and think back to all the fun times I had with him... and now I have to find a emulator and dig my LoD copy out of storage to play it again.
I love Legend of Dragoon. The ending makes me emotional every time. Just an all around perfect story and great game. A remake and sequel need to happen
When I was a child, this game gives me the expiration and frees my fantasy: the long walking in nature and in those fantastic cities...with that music...Legend of Dragoon gave me a lot as a human being. Imho this is the best a videogame can offer to a child.
Best soundtrack ever...nearly 20 years later and it leaves me in a melodic trance. Kind of sad it never got the praise it deserved. I have reminisce on loop while I think about how life has changed.
I just started playing this game again the past few days and it’s just unbelievable how well it holds up and then the ost just enhances all aspects of the game as u go throughout it. Of all the games a remaster would be the best thing ever here even a prequel to the original dragon campaign would be amazing.
Honestly, I find it hard to believe that there can be almost five-hundred thousand views of a game's _soundtrack_ by passersby. That must be five-hundred thousand fans.
So many amazing childhood memories and so much nostalgia that I'm fighting back tears. Very happy that I got one of my best friends to play this (and lots of other PS1 classic RPGs) a few years ago and now it's his favorite game ever.
This soundtrack makes me so damn happy, the memories from this game are too strong. I even named my daughter after the dark dragoon. :) 20 years ago today this game was released. Simply amazing.
I remember playing every second of this game when i was a kid. It was my first RPG, and i got totally caught into the story. It seemed kinda basic in the beginning, the hero searching to kill the big bad guy, but then the plot exploded. Lavitz being killed, Meru's story, Rose's secret, geez man, that was a great game !
How is this game not more popular? Jacksepticeye, the titan himself said this was one of his favorite games. Recognition like that is what this game deserves.
Boss Battle 3 is actually my favorite song of this series, for 2 reasons. It sounds amazing and really beautiful! Also it was in TyranitarTube's Extreme Randomizer when Shadow Ho-Oh first appears.
So just shooting in the dark here. Would anyone here be down to see content about this game? Lore discussions? Theories? I just feel like making something, and I love this game!
All that time spent standing around on the world map on disc 2, just enjoying 1:09:14. I haven't played this game in years. I'm going to do so real soon and I can't wait.. The music alone is fantastic!
One of the most underrated games and soundtracks in gaming. I started playing it again today for the first time in years, can't wait to get back into it.
#1 rpg game on ps1 with start to finished that I have played. Its been years and I still put this on and listen to it (Hot Beats). It was the first game i got when I was a kid so it relaxes me it was just right. No other rpg games seem to fill that space even though there are great ones out there. Its really amazing to see so many people have played it and loved it.
This is my favorite game of all time. I love the music to it. I love the fact that it has speaking characters, something Final Fantasy did not have for a while. Don't get me wrong I love Final Fantasy, but I love Legend of Dragoon so much more.
Loved this soundtrack. This game was amazing. Great story and the graphics were awesome. Just seeing the water flow in certain areas made me go "WOW!" Good memories. Thanks for the time stamps. Putting this in my lists.
26:58. In this city, I remember the princess using the telescope in her room to watch a man who was trying to replant a forest or something, and she was thinking he was such an interesting man... And I remember I feel jealous of this NPC. I wish a princess would get interest in me like that... Amazing how a simple NPCs interaction was so touching in my gameplay.
The man you're talking about is Nello. He wanted to create an oasis in the desert kingdom. i like his ambitions. Princess Lisa likes him too hehe. If they marry I think the kingdom will flourish ^^
@@RoseNZieg Oh, is that who she was looking at? I never could figure out who the heck she was looking, and it seemed that the game didn't wanna tell me because after you catch her looking through her telescope, nothing else ever comes of it.
@@Selrisitai actually you have some clues from the ramblings of princess lisa when you visit her during your free times, but it is confirmed when at the ending scene you see her and the king go visit nello.
+Hey Anuja When I was a child, my parents were always working, always fighting (whilst divorced); always running around. And, the characters of this game offered me role models, heroes; family. Through this I learned sacrifice, chivalry, honor, and determination! I wonder if people can respect that this game perhaps was a ps1 impression of some of the last nes jrpg's spirit; that this was more than a game: it was an expression of freedom, spirit, and values, from it's designers; before the call of demand of games by the public. A manifestation of an uncorrupted, free, rising medium at its genesis. This is art.
20 years has pass and even now this video has almost half million view on the channel with 1200 subscribers... I am sure that this situation means something... this is The Game. This is HUGE....
2020 - are there still veterans like me who want a sequel or a remastered edition?
I will never stop loving this game. And yearning for more.
Right here. Beahing the game soon since I never did (I'm 13, both of my attempts prior failed.)
2021 #stilldreaming
Maybe they'll bring it back in June with the PS Plus revamp? Not a remaster but at this point I'll take anything...
Why hell yes I'd love a prequel the dragon campaign so we could live it though rose and zeig's eyes and sequel with the kids of everyone
Thumb up if after all these years you still want a sequel!

@squarion absolutely agreed. Played through it at least 15 times, and can genuinely say even in the age of PS5, this is for sure the best game.

They were in the process of making a sequel (in the pre-production stage) when the axe came down, sadly.
Legacy of the Void is the best soundtrack, this is a close second IMO.
ball dropped several times involved with this game
I despise that desert too!
I hate that friggin place too lol..
But there's an online petition going on again if u wanna sign one again :)
And you didnt checks online guide to help with the desert?
The Death Frontier, just like all the other locations in the game, is actually quite small. It's maybe 8 screens?
2016. Still waiting for LOD2.

now i disagree jrpgs are not dead. there are still some great titles still coming out.
Captain Velociraptor
eh i guess its really a matter of opinion. i know some people didn't like certain games which is fine. i didn't like ff9 but i do realize quite a few did.
Greetings
Me upon coming here: "Man, I don't know why I'm listening to this--I've played this game a million times and heard this soundtrack a million and one times."
Me two seconds into the soundtrack: ^_______________^
Still playing this in 2024! As of September 10th i'm about to finally beat disc 4 for the first time!

Rest in peace, Takeo Miratsu. Thank you for helping create a soundtrack that was and still is a massive part of my life and so many others.
The battle theme is just a masterpiece
At this point, I'll take a sequel, remake, reboot, HD upscaled version, or even the original playable on PS4.
It's on the Playstation store
You guys are too lazy to play it on an emulator, aren't you ?

I would say Disc 4 got a little long in spots but Serdio and Mille Seseau were incredible to me.
This game is my favorite RPG. The music is one of the reasons this game is very epic.
My last PS1 game. Playd it in high school back in 2001 or 2002... Those were the days...
so many beautiful memories of this game...
Agree! It's fun to play this game. And the story...
Such an underrated game. Deserves an HD remaster/sequel for sure.
They really need to do a re release with updated graphics and some extras for the ps4. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I know. Best RPG I have played, even all these years later. The music, the characters, the story... even the combat systems aged decently. LoD or LoD2 plz!
It's almost 2025 and we still want a sequel/ remake

Although this game got bad reviews, its still one of my favorite games of all time. The story is like no other, the battling was excellent and the music topped it off perfectly
I think this game only got such rough reviews because it was competing against FF7 that time ^ ^; which was kinda an unfair comparesion ...
Oh there it literally nothing they could of done. People obsess over ff7, totally not fair lol
Mysticsloth Legend of Dragoon was released 3 years AFTER Final Fantasy 7. So your assertion that it was doomed from the get-go is wrong.
2017 and i never forgot this game.. its amazing and 1 of the best.. my best moments was with dark, shana, kongol, rose.. i never forgot them!
have i ever thank you for having a Playlist of my favorite jrpg game? thank you!!
Yea we could definitely do that.
Tony Knight get in line, a million people have been trying to do this together for the last 8 years haha. Hope you guys can make it happen!
I put this on repeat and listen to the songs while remembering how I felt playing this game for the first time. T_T Especially "If You Still Believe".
Same here man! Oh the memories. I really need to play this game again! :D
When it is a remake, I want to always save Rose.
Woah Grassy Plains really makes me nostalgic... like woah.
Thats why I love game songs :´)
One of my favorite RPGs of all
Just gonna throw my 2020 comment in here and say I've been replaying this on my Playstation and it still holds up.
Those two drinks side-by-side. Ugh, I'm getting emotional thinking on it.
2019 and im still here
we never really left did we?
33:46 this song really creeeped me out when i was a kid. it sounds so eerie. title fits it perfectly it really does make you feel _uneasy_

20 years ago today this game was released. Simply amazing.

Legendary OST.
