  • Do you find building a hardscape difficult? Consider creating a space to just practice and follow along. I will answer any questions you have in the comments.
This is a study of working inside a shallow aquarium using dragon stone (ohko) and spiderwood. The layout will extend far above the aquarium creating space for submersed and emersed plantings. The goal is to integrate them so they work harmoniously creating a layout with a strong impression above and below the water surface. I am not planting this layout. This is a final result and all materials have been removed. Freeing up the space to practice again.
I've included links to the products I used in this video for your convenience in case you see something that inspires your next project. These are non-affiliate links and I will not receive any commission. Just pointing you in the right direction so you can explore your options.

What do you think do these two things go together? Does Dragon and Spiderwood make a good combination?

Yes, the woods go great together, I have different woods in my shrimp tank and the shrimps and Oto catfishs love them all.

Thanks. I think so too. The straight stone pieces along with the curvy spiderwood seems to work though intuitively maybe not so much.

Thanks! Ill be doing a much more elaborate serpentine stone layout next. That one will be planted. And after that I have the 90cm tank cleaned up ready for a new layout as well. So look for a bunch of new step by step videos soon.

Yea they are pretty interesting for doing some crazy layouts and awesome if you're not going to focus on fish.

When you fill the aquarium with water, does the over hanging wood get water logged, and actually drip water on the outside of the aquarium ?

No. There is no wicking ime. The saturated wood will extend about 1 inch above the water line only.
