This is a wonderful series that is currently streaming on pbs in the US. It’s a wonderful story of Marta and her finding her voice to help Norway. And struggling with a 5 year separation from her husband prince Olav due to the war. Her friendship with FDR is portrayed- the problem is that In this version FDR creeps on her and the worst part of the show is their”romance”.

Caring is often romantic. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE COUSINS in need of an Obi Wan.

LOVED Loved loved the series and now I want to learn more about this chapter in history. While music of the swing era is my favorite, is don't agree with pisspants "delving eye" 's comment on the music. Listen to the lyrics and it sounds like maybe Maartha's lament during their separation. It was very moving.

Only at episode 4, Love Søren & Tobias, only knew of them, and they play brother and father very well. Really love their scenes,i wished we heard more about Haakon and if he could hear from after and other than the train scene,or if he could speak to his family at home in Denmark . Love that movies and series are during in original characther language or more, and the fact that characthers are casted to be from the same country. So great that series and movies are more global shown now,and on stream channels global. I dont know if we got any other scenes in norway and the people left at the palace at the scene with the germans, get to know or shown how things are in Norway, between the other scenes

@@annmarie4794 I dont know realy. I wached it on NRK (norwegian brodcasting) the main producer of the show. But I know a few of theyr series have ended up on Netflix the last years so maybe keep an eye out there,, or maybe on your equivalent to a national rodcarster... perhaps look for it on the closest thing you have to a BBC like brodcaster... (the non-commersial channels tend to cooperate..)

"The King's Choice" (2016), gives a more thorough background of Norway's King Haakon VII, the "grandfather" in the PBS series. It is a wonderful movie and a helpful adjunct to this series to understand Norway's political system as well as the history of Norway's royal family, who, interestingly, hail from Denmark and Sweden.
I do like this series, but why on earth are the credits accompanied by such a misplaced modern song? The effect is completely jarring. "When" is written and sung by Norwegian singer and songwriter Susanne Sundfør. Okay, kudos to her, but this song doesn't belong anywhere near a series set in 1940, especially when there is so much wonderful music from that era, which is used to great effect throughout the series. Why not over the credits?
I get the feeling that someone owed her, or maybe she sold her soul to the higher-ups in exchange for "product placement."
