And that sound tells me you've won a prize, a beautiful silver plated haggis serving plate with someones family crest on it @@mdegaris1972
Aberdeen rules!
I’ll raise you. Mrs Doubtfire.
You'd think they would have said Sean Connery who was the most famous Scotsman at the time.
I think Sasenach is Scots Gaelic for Saxons, most laguages refer to English as Angles
James Clerk Maxwell, the founder of modern electrical engineering
How Limmy didn't say Marti Pellow is beyond me.
Dennis Nilsen
Scrooge McDuck
Another Krankie
Scrooge McDuck
... Top answer! ** Ding ding ding! **
The way his eyes light up when he realises he's got a new grievance to cling on to and bring up every chance he gets.
Can't believe Cunto McCunto didn't make the top 8
no such person. i checked. any thing you have to say for yourself?
Can't believe they couldn't think of Mel Gibson
Or Rod Stewart!
Agent Fat-Bastard.
or Mike Myers
Shrek
If he thinks that’s bad, he should watch the “Any Famous Irishman” round. The second highest answer was Ian Paisley 😂
Lmao nooo I need to see this
Both Republicans and Loyalists would be enraged with that answer hahaha
Ian Paisley considers himself British, he would be fuming if he seen his name under "Famous Irishmen" lol
Michael Collins? liberated Ireland then gave it back and flew to the moon
Did Martin McGuinness get a shout?
The Flying Scotsman
Fairly sure Benny Harvey was alive in 1982, can’t believe nobody chose him. RIP big man, gone but not forgotten _by some of us_
After everything he's done anaw 😢
Miss ye, big man
He was oors, mate. Don't let *them* know.
They say time makes it hurt less, but it doesn't. Miss you, Benny.✌️
Scotty (fae Star Trek)
As a proud Englishman I can name hundreds of famous Scotsmen.
Scotty from Star Trek.
Ronald McDonald.
Old McDonald.
erm
the bloke from Lovejoy - Ian McShane.
Ian Paisley?
hundreds.
Ian mcshane is from Blackburn, Lancashire
Billy mcdonnely
as an Englishman this is both hilarious and embarrasing at the same time. Back then I'd have said Kenny Dalglish.
Did he play soccer in America? If not, almost no chance of any yank knowing who Kenny Dalglish was.
@@therespectedlex9794 no one on this show was a yank, They're all English
@@maettsook Oh, I see, sorry
Why apologise for the English, this Scottish streamer could only name about people before saying “that’s about it” and he didn’t even remember the surname of some of them. He would know more famous English people. Saf
I did not apologise, that would be unEnglish@@ots1634
They secretly knew loads of famous Scotsmen. It was just top class banter.
Russ Abbott
"See you, Jimmy!"
Limmy writing in to Ofcom to complain about a forty-one-year-old episode of _Family Fortunes_ . . .
Boab Monkhouse tore the heart oot this community.
Nessie, Deedee, that kid on the roof who cannae get doon
To be fair, Limmy… a famous Scotsman, could only name 3 famous Scotsman, so can you really be so hard on these 2? 😅
he was trying to put himself in the mind of a person in that time period, and to consider what people an english person would almost certainly know. it's not a fair comparison. This game is literally designed so that the most obvious possible answer that would be easiest for an english person in that specific era to come up with would be right. they didn't even come up with a WRONG answer. absolutely pathetic imo
Dennis Nilsen
Crikey, I don’t think Dyno-Rod had rumbled him just yet
@@hotrod3471 fair point, well made!
You've got yer 'Billy Connolly' sniff
Indignant sniff 😆
Robert Louis Stevenson
Can't believe they hadn't at least heard of golfing legend Cunto McCunto.
Mrs Doubtfire
The comedian... Lommy?
Horace Broon ya bas.
Horace didnae make it. Joe's kicked his head in.
I was crying laughing through this, absolute scenes
Jocky Wilson should be in the list, he was the reigning world champion at the time this episode aired
Sassenach is Gaelic meaning Saxon but often a pejorative term for English. And it's being mispronounced here: the -ch sound is more like the -ch in Bach not like the -ch sound in Catch.
Rabbie Burns? Disgraceful.
'Hagis man' must be number 1 surely
Or 'bagpipes man'
the holy trinity of bell, connelly and wallace
What about Wee Jock Poo-Pong McPlop??
The man who cleans out the public toilets in Aberdeen
At least Bob defended us a wee bit saying "North of the border they're going wild."
He’s not defending us he’s basically calling us animals 😅
aww he was so happy at the start of the clip as well. We’ve torn his little heart out
You would have thought even the two of them could have come up with Rod Stewart!!
Is that a joke ? Must be, as Rod Stewart is English.
X ERR ERRRR X
Rab C Nesbitt
Can't believe they didn't even know Shrek
Wee Jimmy Krankie
Monkhouse was loving it.
My family were on episode 19 of the 1st series. My dad said Bob Monkhouse was a twat. Dont mean to speak ill of the dead but thats what my dad said.
I hope Limmy watches their episode
David Byrne 😆
The man in the wine gums advert
Brings a tear to my eye to see the pride that Limmy has in all these Edinburgh inventors.
Adam Smith
Played 20 seconds, rants for 6 and a half minutes.
What a pro
It even took Limmy a moment to come up with one hahaha
David Hume
Lookin forward to seeing the rest of this one, to be fair I can’t think of many famous Scots from around that time and I’m Scottish, most Scottish celebrities weren’t shown in England.
I forget the actual names but there was definitely a few fellas in 'the family ness'...i doubt it'd be top answer but it was huge around that time
King James I, II, III, IV and V
So many famous scotsman that he can only come up with 3 😂
Oor Wullie
Alan Hansen, Ian St John, Archie Gemmill, Kenny Dalglish. I can only think of footballers! 😂
There's an episode with Max Bygraves presenting where they ask them the same question about a famous Irishman. None of them can think of a famous Irishman, eventually one of them says Terry Wogan.
that bastard ryan tubridy
How about Jackie Stewart.. always gets forgotten.
Billy Connolly, is that your best shot? Took you several seconds too.
marti pellow
I've never seen him so happy
why no Graeme Obree?!
duke of edingurgh
Super Gary Caldwell is my first thought.
John Logie Baird would be my answer coz back then Baird tvs were still about.
I'd go Adam Smith in 21st century coz everyone's seen a £20 note
Rab C Nesbitt
Easy peasy, Mel Gibson, Russ Abbot and Rod Stewart.
Woody Woodpecker
The bitter irony of Limmy claiming he's "not bitter" sounding like "not better"
Rab C Nesbitt
Logic is flawed. He took forever himself to name some, you'd be fucked in that time. But even when he said about Wales that he didn't know. Independent schmendent, i don't know any famous Hawaiians
The guys that made gta? 😂
He had a go but can only name about 5 before he says “that’s it”, sad. He is Scottish and knows about 5 answers, he could name more famous English people
He had let the hope and happiness start to take hold in his heart and @0:55 was the exact moment his heart shook it off like a wet dog.
Scots do t have much of a chance to be known because average life expectancy up there is 16
Limmy struggled aswell lol.
Tbf I felt like he was struggling to think what they'd say in 1982
Even Limmy was struggling to name them.
You didn't know the name of the discoverer of penicillin either mate.
What about the guy who invited whiskey?
That was a grouse
Dont forgot benny harvey rip big man
GBNF
Genuinely mental they didn’t know a single Scotsman
I’m sure I saw you googling famous Scotsmen Lim ! 😅
It's always billy Connolly first isn't it? It was for me.
where's the original video for this? Would be interesting to see the answers.
Even limmy struggles to name a few tbh.
Top answer was Shrek obviously
I will accept Limmy as an answer, a meeting point between the living and the dead Scotch.
We take it all in our stride pal.
The donkey from the Listerine advert?
Top Answer: Limmy!
McTout ? That’s 1 for a pointless Answer
McTout blows on his bagpipes
whilst Elspeth & Angus watch those notes
Go floating across the Waves.
Who’s was the 8 Scottish folk ffs
Marvin fae “the Scheme”
Ronald McDonald
Alan Wells
The Irish man one was funniest
5:50 scotland still had 5 million people back in 1982
