    I have set mine up on a Sony A58 as a video rig and really happy with it. No focus noise problems when the microphone is attached away from the camera. Works well as a constant aperture video lens on APSC cameras.

    it's full frame compatible from 14mm onward, making it an affordable full frame ultrawide angle lens.

      @apertureatlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, as I showed in the example, at 2:15 , from 14mm onward it is usable on full frame. So, I agree, it can be a cheap ultrawide angle lens alternative.

    500g + 100g (the adapter) -> won't the little mirrorless camera's mount break from the weight.. ?

    • @apertureatlas
      @apertureatlas  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The mount holds up pretty well. I have used even heavier lenses, such as the first version of a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L (1kg) and the Sigma 100-400mm Contemporary (1.16kg), on a Canon M50 with an adapter without any damage. I have even held the whole setup with one hand. However, it is recommended not to wiggle the camera too much in this situation. Most of the time, we place one hand on the lens and the other on the camera to balance the weight, so everything is fine.

    I've been working with the Sigma 10-20 mm/3.5 for 7.5 years now and never had any real issues with it. It proved very useful for landscape and indoor shots on my Nikon D7000, D7100 and, with a Nikon FTZ adaptor, on my Z fc.

      Yes, if it’s for Canon, then yes. Sigma made this lens for Nikon, Sony, and Pentax cameras as well. So if you buy it, make sure it specifies that it is for Canon.

    A question about the Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 lens: When attached to a mirrorless camera via a dumb adaptor, meaning the lens isn't communicating with the camera, do you know what aperture the lens defaults to? I'm assuming f3.5, but I wonder is it perhaps the last aperture you were using when you had the lens on a camera that could electronically communicate with it?

    • @apertureatlas
      @apertureatlas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I tested now, with my Canon M6 Mark II + the original EF to EOS M adaptor that wires the camera to the lens (the two communicate). It doesn't matter if I'm at f/5.6 or f/6.3, the lens automatically switches to f/3.5 when you turn the camera off. If, on this setup, I set the lens at, f/5.6, for example, and detach the lens (without turning off the camera) the lens will stay at f/5.6. In conclusion: 1. with a camera that communicates with the lens, when you turn off the camera, the lens will switch to f/3.5 and will stay there ; 2. if you need other apertures (to use with that unwired adaptor), you'll need to set the lens at a certain aperture, using a camera that communicates to the lens, and detach the lens (without turning off the camera). Hope it helps!

    Would this work with the M50 with the viltrox speed booster? Or just with an ef to ef-m adapter?

    • @apertureatlas
      @apertureatlas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After reading some Reddit threads and other searches on Google ("viltrox speedbooster ef-s lenses") , I see there is an issue only with Canon's EF-S lenses - they don't fit on the speedbooster, but Sigma lenses do (even the ones with "DC" in their name. So my guess is that this lens will work with both adapters.

    So would this lens be any good on a crop sensor dslr (Nikon D3100)?

    • @apertureatlas
      @apertureatlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, if you get the version that works with Nikon dslrs you will have almost the same results that you see in this video. I tested it on a Canon crop sensor camera. It is a good wide angle lens if you avoid shooting all the time at 10mm - from 15 to 20mm the corners look good.

    • @apertureatlas
      @apertureatlas  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I believe so. The wide angle + the ability to zoom in a bit helps. It should be a good solution if you have a compatible dslr. But... it is quite big and heavy. For vlogging (in the long term) I strongly encourage using a mirrorless camera (Canon m50, or, even better, Sony ZV-E10) with its native lenses that are smaller, lighter and more discrete.

    The minor flaws that were pointed out can be mostly corrected with post processing software, so unless you are making a living taking photos, where your clients demand perfection right down to the pixel, these "flaws" are pretty much irrelevant and definitely not a reason to not buy this lens.
