Brendon, me and you could talk music all day long my friend. At last count, i have right at 11,000 cds myself and i must admit, I'm very proud of my collection. I have every genre of music except opera and bluegrass. My favorite genre is the AOR/Melodic rock/Hair metal stuff. Also, i want to tell you that i truly enjoy your videos because i can relate to most of the music you present. Great job!!

Great video Brendon. Thank you for sharing. I own just over 1300 CDs. The very first CD I ever purchased was KISS Animalize in December of '86. I had just turned 22 years. I'm 56 now and still buying the music I love. Gotta support the band. 😎👍

I go through that plenty too. For me it’s all about mood. Sometimes the albums I’m looking at don’t strike my mood. That can be very frustrating until I find the right one that does.
Some cool stuff on that wall. Love the TESLA Real To Reel one. When they released that you could buy the first disc in the store, but the case for the second disc was empty. You had to buy a concert ticket to complete the CD. I ended up with a few of them because I saw so many shows. Great covers album. They really do several of those songs justice. After that came out they did a tour and were opening the shows with War Pigs by Black Sabbath. Great shows.
Amazing collection. By coincidence I just listened to that Jack Blades CD for the first time in ages. It’s so good, as good as a Night Ranger album really. Most people probably don’t even know it even exists

The Queen 40 box sets have all the studio albums with a bonus disc; I bought all three box sets a few months ago, but these particular jewel cases are a pain in the butt. Nice collection, by the way!
@@BrendonSnyder That's what my friend was telling me about those jewel cases. Luckily, I found a solution to get the discs out of the case. So, I guess it's all good.
So you like the more rare and solo stuff as much as you like the classic band stuff : it's so cool to see a promo cd by Dave Gahan (that I didn't know, by the way - although I have about 1000 DM records) and his work with Soulsavers ! Great passion-sharing video.
You just mentionned 2 of my fav solo albums by artists who are more a "band member": Ian Astbury and Peter Criss. Love the Astbury album (I have the regular cd and also a promo version) and also his "Holy Barbarians" album. As for Peter Criss "Out of Control", I bought it back then and still have the Lp (a much better album than his Kiss solo album imho). Cool stuff. Cheers!
Haha…nice to find a fellow fan of those two albums. They certainly aren’t part of the mainstream. I too have Holy Barbarians, but find the solo album far more interesting. Maybe because it was unique and different.

I saw them in concert , it was an un-announced show and we were maybe 30 people in the entire venue. Great (short) concert, although I don't think Astbury was in his best of shape. I got my cd signed by the band but they weren't very talkative...makes sense. Can't have been very exciting for them. Cheers!

I was still buying cassettes all the way up to 1994/95. I can still remember my first CD too, “What’s the Story, Morning Glory” by Oasis when it was released in the autumn of 1995.
I keep about 1,000 of mine readily available and the rest I've had to stash away because I have to have room to work on art. That was acdtually the reason I consolidated. Your case looks like mine with things stashed sideways.
I’m bursting at the seams!! Yeah the ones I have laying on top are recent ones pulled out that might get filed away on the wall or put back in boxes. It all depends how much the album strikes my fancy.

@@BrendonSnyder yeah, the internet says cds will only last about 50 years, so imagine being a cd collector for 30 or 40 years and then all of your cds mess up or "expire"
I have cds that I've bought in 80s and they're still fine. I have at one time had my collection in a storage locker for a year with no issues. The only times I have had issues with disc rot is with discs that I played in car decks and stored in a cd wallet in the car. I think it's due to the constant rubbing on the back. Also, in a car it's more likely to touch the playing surface with your fingers. Thankfully, I used mostly burned cds for car decks.
Like Matt says, I’ve got some CD’s that are close to 40 years old and still work just fine. I always understood that to be for non-factory pressed CD’s that would breakdown. But I also think just good handling and care is bound to add to the life. If they all disintegrate at 50 years…I’ll suddenly have a lot of free space!!!
What do you mean? They’re alphabetize so it makes it very easy to find. In some cases I’ve grouped solo albums with a band they are from. Those wouldn’t be alphabetized. But the rest are.

That would take way too long IMO. Plus I like to save that for when discussing just one or a few bands at a time so I can really explain my interest in a band. But I’ll keep it in mind.

So let’s see…I grew up in florida and worked in 5 different music stores and all people working in those including label reps pronounced it like I do now. So what if half the people pronounce it one way and the other half pronounce it another way. It doesn’t change your understanding of what I’m talking about.

The Soul Sirkus yellow edition is a different version with a different track listing and a different drummer.

Sounds like you got the ones from Europe. It’s harder to get the booklets out but the jewel cases are stronger and last longer.

Did you see Ian front The Doors? I was at the opening night of the tour in NYC. So good. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
