Mungyo set of 48 half pan watercolors may be better than I thought!
Most of the paints claim to be “three stars” in lightfastness and after hanging them in my sunny window for one month straight I could see absolutely NO difference in the parts of the swatches that were covered versus the parts that were exposed to the sun!
Not only is this set really fun to paint with, but the colors are vibrant. My test is by no means scientific but all of the second thoughts I had about this set are now gone & I will definitely reach for it more often!
It’s a great budget set I can now more often - at least it can hold up for a month in direct sun, so that tells me it's perfect for any skill level of journal work.

I just bought these, in part because of this review, and I am so happy! These are so vibrant (even on pulp paper) and easy to activate. They blow my previous sets out of the water.

Such a pretty palette. I've been looking for something with that color range since I got back from Taos/Santa Fe last month. The sun in Colorado is ferocious. Just look at all the sun-damaged cars on the road here and my doctor told me we are #1 in the country for skin cancer. 😟 On the flip, the light here is really magical in many different ways. Every day I'm surprised and amazed.

I am so happy you like the vibrant colors in this palette! Another favorite for our SW landscape -with excellent lightfastness ratings-is the Daniel Smith Colors of Inspiration. (Gotta wear sunscreen, eh?!🤠😄😎)

Hi Barb! You’re so welcome! I’m happy you enjoyed this review & found it helpful. I, too, have the Mungyo Gallery soft and water soluble oil pastels-they are so vibrant and fun to use. This set of 48 watercolors is one I reach for often-I think you’ll like it!
I’m not 100% convinced these are lightfast-but if that’s not a concern to you they are truly wonderful paints!

Can you recommend a watercolor set that’s lightfast for a painting that will be hung up

Yes! Absolutely- The Rosá Gallery paints from Ukraine are available on Amazon and a great price. I’ve got a review of them here: th-cam.com/video/prtpBjq0y1o/w-d-xo.html
Here is the product link on Amazon: Rosa Gallery Monopigmented Professional Watercolor Paint Set, 12 Water Colors of 2.5 ml, High Lightfastness Paints Kit for Artists, Adult, Lightweight and Portable Metal Case a.co/d/bhC5Okv
They also have a Botanical set: Rosa Gallery Set of Watercolors Botanical Unique Palette, Full Pans 2.5ml, Metal Case, Extra Fine Professional Watercolours (14 Full Pans) a.co/d/bxmbUS2
These paints are vibrant , transparent, and layer very very well. One of my favorite professional grade paints!🤠❤️

Thank you. Most informative. However i would love to see all the colours. At the end of the video, the picture is obscured by TH-cam's suggestions for next video.

Hi Anne! Thanks for your comment. Here is the short previewing the video. You can pause to see the colors in more detail. I have also used this set in several other videos. I’ll put that together and list it under my Playlists Tab. I should be able to have that up by mid day tomorrow so be sure to check back-thanks for your patience! th-cam.com/users/shorts0L8fPMgJrwM?feature=share
