      You couldn't please tell me, I've just carved a few cow horn rings and a dolphin, I've polished them but do I need to coat them in anything to preserve them

    I just wanted to say that I've been watching your videos for several days now. A lot of them! Lol. I am a 50 year old disabled Army veteran. I have suffered from PTSD, depression, and alcoholism. I am finding that getting back into my creative side with arts and crafts is very therapeutic for me. Never owned a Rotary Tool before. So I decided to use a gift certificate for Amazon that I got for Christmas to purchase my first one... Which was a GOXAWEE 140 piece set. Only had it a couple of weeks and I'm still experimenting with it. But I am so excited about doing some skull carvings after watching your videos, that I have already contacted a taxidermist nearby and have got an agreement that he is going to give me a skull to work on. If it turns out well, then we are going to sell them at his shop, and split the profit. I will keep you updated. Thank you Sir for your inspiration.

      Hey Berry! THAT'S AWESOME! The carving part that is :D Good to hear you got connected with a taxidermist, I have gotten a lot of great skulls from taxidermist. And thanks for watching!

    I’m finding your videos incredibly interesting Hunter. Thanks fo the video. I’m a hairstute dude like yourself so will have to try and track down the respirators you use to cut the dust down. I’m currently living in New Zealand and haven’t seen this variety around but will continue looking. Thanks for the video again mate. take it easy.

    Nice work Hunter, I carve wood & the technique I use to get a pattern on the project, I'll print a design I like, then using contact spray on the back of the pattern then attach carbon tracing paper. After tracing the pattern onto the project I use hairspray as well.

    Pretty cool... that's a lotta little holes. Would you send one of your little skulls to Canada ? Look forward to seeing what you do to the skull next. Always a treat to see what you are up to in your workshop. I like the finish you put on the big skull looks awesome. Thanks for sharing as always. : )

      I do! A few people in Canada have already put in there pre-order :) Thanks for watching, I am pretty excited for the next video because I think a lot of people are going to like the resin inlay.

    Hello,
    I'm new to carving. I have invested in several dremel power tool. The 4000 being the latest. Could you do a tutorial on SPEEDS and variances, during etching and drilling? Or mention what speeds and even pressure, you are using on a project?
    I've seen videos of Carvers of every material and 99% of them never mention the speed, which is helpful for many effects. I've been practicing like crazy and getting pretty good. My downfall is speed setting. Any helpful tips would be appreciated. Thank your! Your work is FIRE!

    • @usskullhunter
      @usskullhunter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey KJ! Thanks for the input. So for bone as a general rule I would say to run the Dremel as fast as it will go. The less the burr catches on the bone the easier it is to carve.

    What do you charge for carved skulls? If you supply the skull and if it's a customer supplied skull?
    Do you charge by the hour?
    I'm in Canada and have a few people ask me how much is charge and I've got no idea how much to charge.

    I got some cow skulls from a local cow farm, but they’re fraying I think from sun damage. I’m just getting started with the hobby, is there anything you would recommend to help with the surface that is peeling/splintering? Is it only superficial? Love your channel, keeping me inspired! Thanks friend!

    • @usskullhunter
      @usskullhunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jackie! That's great to hear you got some skulls :) So yes, generally it is very superficial. Simply lightly sand down any chalky/flaky areas. You will generally be surprised just how strong the bone is underneath.

    Where do you get your stencils to put on your skulls other than free handing?

    • @usskullhunter
      @usskullhunter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Justin! Sometimes I do all freehand and sometimes I do a combination of freehand and image transfer with a stencil. Some of the designs I make myself and then transfer and some I get custom made. Hey can you actually send me a text, would love to chat more with you, I have some free designs if you would like them 540-222-2020

    Do you seal your skulls before carving them?

    • @usskullhunter
      @usskullhunter  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't generally unless the skull needed to be stabilized prior to carving.
