Those trees really helped keep the place from being really flooded. I think Florida should plant mangroves around the shores of every beach to keep the water at bay.
One idea I had to take care of some of the major problem areas, is to cut deep circular drains into the concrete with grates above, with electric sumps in the bottom, that would feed through pipes under the concrete, into large rain barrels placed on a stand somewhere in the woods, and tied together with pipes connecting the tops to cross feed the water from one to the other for greater water capacity ( similar to the principle of a water tower ) , that could be stored and used to water grass during a dry spell, with a sprinkler pump feeding from the barrels to a moveable wheeled sprinkler. Just a thought, I'm not a professional but it seems like it could work for the worst areas. Glad you all are safe
Airboated for years out in that area surprised it's not deeper than that when the river crests usually over the main highway. We used to ski with a VW bug hood not far from there. Glad it didn't wash you out.
Only perk of heavy rain and high winds is all the half dead tree material and what not that might fall over the next 6 months all falls at once meaning only one big cleanup instead of ongoing maintenance. You all have done so well handling this

So with water driving, you have to keep a continuous wake up keep the engine/sensors dry. If you stop that's a big no no. Also in trucks with clutch fans, if you stop or slow down and that wake splashes in your radiator it'll hit the fan and make it explode.
You're lucky, my parent's friends live on western part of Florida, below Tampa. What they told my dad about what was happening... I can't imagine and never want to experience anything like it!
