    Great job with the video. Now you know, and understand how EVERY firefighter feels when they roll up on a job like that. Out in the cold, out of breath. After you've lived it. Only YOU know, while everybody else can only wonder. Great job Jeff. Thanks for being there.

    Great job getting the people out 👍! Ladder #7 has a 2 stroke Detroit Diesel; they have a very different sound than the newer diesel engines.

    Jeff, Talk about being in the right place a the right time. Once again another outstanding video on your behalf. Congratulations to you for alerting the residents in the house next door to the original fire building which was burning out of control. In my book you are a true American hero. The original fire building surely didn't look like your typical vacant building. The home looked to be well maintained and taken care of.

    My house caught fire and basically burned down about three weeks ago. Some idiot was frying pancakes three units down (Lived in Townhouses) and started a grease fire. He ran around screaming instead of calling 911, and if I hadn't been awake at 3:00 AM that night I wouldn't have heard it, looked out of my window, and seen smoke pouring out of my building. It was traumatizing and horribly scarring, and I really hope that whoever does have to go through a house fire makes it out okay... They spread fast. yes. You may realize this, but in the moment, they spread instantaneously. I've had a plan in case this happened, or something else bad like it, and I still couldn't think straight and grab my shit and leave! Until now, I still haven't been able to think perfectly clearly.

      It is good that you got out. It is a very wise person who makes plans for an emergency and has a plan to follow. That is a wise thing to do. It's also a great idea to have fire extinguishers on hand. I have them in my cars and the house. lots of them. this way I may slow down the fire till the fire dept arrives.

    My only question is why when you have a successful master stream (deck gun) in operation on your primary delta exposure was it shut down to continue hand-line operation in the structure that was obviously gone? Great video work of the fire!!!

    Great job, but I wonder why they shut down the deck gun on #5. Did they lose their water supply? It was doing a great job and then it was shut job. When they turned it on again it did more in a few minutes then they had been doing for 10 minutes.

    • @madhatter5465
      @madhatter5465 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      (I'm Speculating) They most likely felt they had a good knock on the fire and wanted to try an interior attack. You can't shoot water inside with guys in there, so many things can go wrong. Things like steam burns, or hitting someone with the master stream. Just as quick examples.

    I'm really curious about the middle building. Did it catch? There was somebody (presumably a firefighter) in there with a torch most of the time. I didn't see any smoke come out of it, but the window on the top floor was removed.

    • @stewievaughan9841
      @stewievaughan9841 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Arkadia Moon Probably took the window out just in case the house caught , they would have an easier time battling it.

    • @murrayhall908
      @murrayhall908 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Presume this was pre-arranged signal to ff's to evacuate the building as the officer in charge must have thought the roof /structure was going to collapse.
      Cannot understand why they did not utilise the power line on the top of the fire engine immediately in front of the house to kill down the fire or at least keep it from spreading to the next house on the right!

    • @JJKarpinski

      First engine on scene is engine 5 located in Ironbound but this don't look like the Ironbound section maybe that explains the delay in fire department arriving on the scene.

    That was funny "How do I upload this? The whole thing?". I'm not saying it was funny like laughing at you. It was just funny how you said it. Like I said this is a really good video. Next time put it on your computer first and cut out all the moving around and talking parts. As a firefighter I would like to say Good job getting the people out and knocking on doors. Not a lot of people would do that. Be proud of what you did.

      So you criticism was that the department took a little over a minute, if that, to get water on the fire? You see at 2:29 they're stretching lines. At 3:04 they open the nozzle at the front door. That's pretty damn good if you ask me.

    • @enginegoesphotography3794
      @enginegoesphotography3794 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Fluffie Klots The ladders were not useable due to power lines on both sides of the fire structure. It would have been useless to place an aerial there, whereas the engine could operate a deck gun from that spot.

    I'm trying not to second guess but...poor exposure protection. The roof next door is steaming. There is a deck gun ready to do and they don't use I. much. The third floor has to be coming out the front before they get water on it. Back off, deluge the place continually and stay safe? Theres no audio but not sure where the leadership is here?
