Here in Brazil, maybe especially in São Paulo, Polenta fries (or "polenta frita") are very popular, but they are always deep-fried and, in lieu of mayo, they are served with greated cheese, mozzarella or parmesan, on top of them.
Didnt mean it that way 🤣 guess I should have specified....Its good in my case because I'm abstaining from anything made with flour or sugar for minute.
The polenta (corn meal) ratio is a bit off. Because I followed your recipe to boot and it was left quite dense. I had to liquify to get it to a better consistency. I also wouldn’t add rosemary.
We served these in a restaurant I worked at for a season and they drove me insane. Destroys the drier oil, they fall apart all the time. Can’t tell you how many orders were stuck waiting for perfect sticks to come out.
If you've ever seen "My Cousin Vinny" when Joe Pesci is in a southern diner and trying grits for the "first" time. I was yelling at the screen, "It's just polenta!"
Valetudo The Neko Ummm... Maybe because they were trying to make polenta "tasty"? Nothing wrong with plain polenta but it is the very definition of PLAIN.
Valetudo The Neko Yeah but this is Tasty. They always try to "Fancy" things up. I'm just amazed they didn't add garlic. They usually put garlic in everything.
Americans call it grits. I’d been hearing about grits for years and was curious, so a friend in the US sent some over. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered it was polenta - something I eat all the time.
Try letting it simmer a bit longer, at least until the polenta starts pulling away from the sides of the pot when you stir it. If it’s still runny and wet then it still hasn’t absorbed all the liquid yet.
I bought a compressed log of polenta. I wonder if I can cut discs and deep fry those? I seeing some comments relating to them falling apart as they are being deep-fried, yikes that would make me very mad!
I'm glad you added the option of baking, for people who don't like frying. Thanks.
I just made polenta fries earlier this week, I made half like this, and half with panko bread crumbs (which were a big hit), highly recommend!
in italy, especially in tuscany, we call'em scagliozzi and they're not shaped as fries but flatter
Salvatore Santillo in the north we grill little strips of polenta like in this video and eat them with fritto misto
Here is a idea, add cheese to the mix. Then you have a kind of cheesy polenta fries!

"and just a sprinkle of olive oil"
Justin Y. Your still watching right

Really had to laugh at this one, been eating this all my life but we always called it "fried grits"!One of my favorite things, delicious!!!
My Grandfather used to make Polenta for breakfast, It was his and my favorite
What they don't explain is you have to keep them on that spider or they will stick to the bottom of the fryer.
Also served with maple syrup... Yum!
this is almost as popular in Brazil as french fries
btw, both corn and potatoes are New World foods
Polenta is cornmeal, right?
Mystic zodiac yeah
Look for coarse ground cornmeal. Fine ground will make it pasty.
Yep

Yeah its kinda like the grits you can eat for breakfast

Fried catfish without the catfish. Sounds pretty tasty! Sub the butter for olive oil and the mayo for another dip and you have a vegan dish too.
Oh yes!
Your recipes are best
These are so fucking good. I haven’t tried this recipe but I’ve had something very close to it. I could eat dozens of them.
I’ve tried all your recipes and they are amazing
To my vegan friends - you can substitute milk for plant based milk and butter for either vegan butter or coconut oil
*_I wish i could eat this through the screen_* 😋😋😋
Polenta Fries or “Scagliozzi”, i’m from Italy (that’s a plate so much famous in Livorno, in Tuscany)
Aurora Fedeli si ma da quando la polenta si fa col brodo

I Like How The One Making The Food Put Unsalted Butter And Then Put Salt
This is so good
The polenta (corn meal) ratio is a bit off. Because I followed your recipe to boot and it was left quite dense. I had to liquify to get it to a better consistency. I also wouldn’t add rosemary.
Will so make this
Looks great !!! Wanna try some !!!
Veil Diamond trust me don’t it tastes horrible (for me anyway) but I’m just saying don’t be expecting something amazing
We have this in Brazil since forever.. lol
Bianca Spindler ok
We served these in a restaurant I worked at for a season and they drove me insane. Destroys the drier oil, they fall apart all the time. Can’t tell you how many orders were stuck waiting for perfect sticks to come out.
im so hungry after watching this (like im never NOT hungry😂)
How long do they need to be cooked if in oil on the stove top?
I would do this with a meat sauce or pesto even.
Meat sauce yes. The flavor of pesto, yes. But the oil in pesto might be a bit much.
Maple Syrup. I promise you, you won't regret it.
Definitely pasta sauce it’s served with traditionally
Sorry..for Italian dishes lol
What if you used salted butter? Would their be a difference?
I'm so gonna be doing this
If you've ever seen "My Cousin Vinny" when Joe Pesci is in a southern diner and trying grits for the "first" time.
I was yelling at the screen, "It's just polenta!"
daddyquatro
Grits are usually made from ground white hominy. Polenta is generally yellow cornmeal.
Classic dish in some parts of Brazil, any culture also have these?
pedro garcia de acordo com os comentários,na Itália tb é um prato popular
If I see one more wix or talenti ad I swear..
SAME OMG I’M SO TIRED OF TALENTI ADS
get adblock
Why do I always watch these videos even after I just ate pasta
- unsalted butter
- salt
....might as well use salted butter then?!
The point is you can’t control the amount of salt in butter, and not every company uses the same recipe, but you can control the amount you add.
“T-tasty”
*gets hit my rock*
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
What is polenta? Is it like a type of flour? Like cornmeal?
Geeta Persaud
Yep it's cornmeal. The more interesting American version is called grits.
Geeta Persaud it's cornmeal with boiled water
Not just the cornmeal
Its an european dish and its name is from the italian version
Mmmmm delicioso
Here in Brazil this is "angu frito"
PileofGames talvez onde vc mora
Na maior parte do país eu acho q é polenta
Mas eu n sei
Aqui no Rio e eu acho q em Salvador é polenta
@@livia9148 No Sul é polenta.
why tasty has to complicate everything? traditional polenta is just corn flour and water, there is no need of milk or vegetable broth
Valetudo The Neko
Ummm...
Maybe because they were trying to make polenta "tasty"?
Nothing wrong with plain polenta but it is the very definition of PLAIN.
daddyquatro this is why is usually served with some other food but milk and broth don't put a lot of taste
Valetudo The Neko
Yeah but this is Tasty. They always try to "Fancy" things up.
I'm just amazed they didn't add garlic. They usually put garlic in everything.
daddyquatro they could use sheered cheese, salt, pepper and mustard
I think it would taste good
Sorry for my English I'm Brazilian
It's cornmeal, not cornflour. What Brits call cornflour Americans call cornstarch.
Looks Yummy! :D
What is polenta ?
its an italian dish made with water and corn flour
can be made in a pot just like mashed potatoes or can be fried
Water with with corn flour, we usually eat here in Brazil cooking like smashed potatoes and eating with ground beef
In romania it is called "the poor man's bread" and it is considered one of our many traditional dishes.
Americans call it grits. I’d been hearing about grits for years and was curious, so a friend in the US sent some over. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered it was polenta - something I eat all the time.
Love the food
At 1:22 they look like those frozen French toast sticks
Monica Loves Bar/Restaurant sells Polenta chips/Fries sprinkled with parsley and serves small bowl of Chipotle sauce for dip dip :D
in Vietnam,we just use that cornmeal for feed the pig
Can you just bake it in the baking sheet instead of on a rack?
Wow
Im hungry 😢
finally! vegan fries
Did someone forget to put the recipe in the description?
Just use grits instead if you cant find polenta
Unicorn Girl no, corn flour is corn starch: a thickener; you mean corn meal.
YASS love it
Eat up guys there's _polenta_ to go around!
Love it
NYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES POLENTA

I fucking love polenta oh god
*polenta is like ma family*
Wowww , so tasty !!! 😂🙂🙂😉
I read the title wrong and thought Placebo fries.
So in the video, it said use the milk of choice. What is the difference when you use whole milk vs skim milk? Is it a heavier polenta or what?
Ryan To here in Brazil we make it with boiled water
Sorry for my English
Ryan To but I think it might be a heavier polenta with whole milk
Sorry,I don't know what skim milk means in Portuguese
Unicorn Girl your English is great. Skim milk is milk without fat. It’s probably the the middle of water and milk
Ryan To ok, thank you
Oh yes
This begs the question, why not just use a potato??
Pq a receita nao vai batata bjs
uma garota qualquer acho q ele n vai entender
Joe M because polenta is cornmeal not potatoes
Here before Justin Y. Hehe
look again
Nive Ashok but... But... He wasn't here when I commented so I'm still earlier :3
Why is everybody talking about Justin y is there something I’m missing?

I Love Tasty...sometimes😶🍩🍮🍰🎂🍧🍨🍦🍧
I never knew what polenta was until I watched Hell’s Kitchen
So...it's just fried cornmeal mush. Nothing new here.
Rebecca Bloodworth it is delicious
Its fried polenta. Not cornmeal mush. Polenta.
Actar literally the same thing
Actar Visit any Bob Evans restaurant and order the mush, they'll bring you out yellow cornmeal deep fried rectangles served with syrup and a smile.
Merci
What is Polenta?
Puts in unsalted butter. Adds salt
YUMMY 😋🤗😋😋
Where is the "oh yes" at the end?!?!
Wow it very code
Hot water cornbread? You used milk instead hahahaha I think it's the same with surollitos (?) In Puerto Rico.
Healthy 👍
1:10 you accidently put the ending scene before it was fried
I have tried these it takes longer that 2 hours to set and still the mixture is still very wet followed reciepe exactly did not work for me.
