Enough talk about this Black Sabbath record! I just find it funny that the audiophiles are so obsessed with this It’s a metal recording made in 2 days! I don’t think ever made to be an audiophile recording Just play it loud!!!!

So audiophiles can’t appreciate a great album that was recorded in two days that isn’t an audiophile recording?
Seems kind of silly to say such a thing. We are obsessed because it’s a great album and although it’s far from an audiophile recording it’s great to hear a great mastering of this album as it has been a while since this has been done well.

I'm waiting for the Rhino version of Portishead Dummy. I want to accurately hear every scratch they put into the recording.

@@my_username_was_taken it’s all about getting the best sounding version of these albums. If they make a Portishead Dummy release and it’s the best it has ever sounded it’s a win.

@@trueaudiofiles8453 I was making a joke. To make that album, they threw a record around and beat it to hell. That album has noise and pops in the background because that's how they wanted it to sound.

Nice comparison/review. I had a VG+ US Warner green label before buying this new HiFi pressing. The new Rhino is very good, but if I had my choice, if I could get my OG Warner on the Rhino quality vinyl, I'd be in heaven.

Yeah the Rhino is a really quiet pressing.

I listened again last night to the Rhino and I think it's great, except I thought the bass was lacking in certain parts. This may be due to the OG tapes. I guess the used 2 four-tracks and did a bit of bouncing. Thanks for the vid!

I got the rhino hifi, the green US OG and the 2010 Ron McMaster cut. I think the rhino hifi is amazing. Silky smooth no noise. The OG green is more rowdy. They both amazing. The 2010 cut isn’t that bad either. I did notice the green OG was about 2DR more compression than the rhino hifi. This could be why people may prefer it (louder and slightly fatter). Kevin passes the tape pretty transparently…. People aren’t used to hearing it so clean. I love the “4k” details of the rhino hifi. But like the green too. Rhino hifi may be my go to.

That's one thing I can't stand with modern collecting. 99% of the people driving the price up aren't even fans and never thought of the album before, but the moment they see it sell out and shoot up in price they feel the need to buy up every copy ever pressed. Then they pretend they're the "biggest fans".

Thanks for the p(review)! Not sure if I'm going to receive a comp copy of this remaster at all, but I do have the option of paying $9.49 if I wanted to. I personally prefer originals but always nice to get info on those remasters/reissues. Poke!

How do they make any money by only pressing 5k? Subtracting their cost probably not much profit left. What am I missing?

They own the rights to the music so there is no licensing fee and they do charge $40 direct, there is no middle man.

Wow not to get a first US press?? Many people are actually saying the first US sounds better than the vertigo🤔🤔

The forums for years have always said the UK sounds better. Not until this Rhino has come out have people have been saying the US first is better.

@@trueaudiofiles8453 yes very interesting, I do have a clean first US press, and I do remember when I first played it I was so surprised how good it sounded from 1970!!😎🤘

I had a 1st press US copy but sold it. I prefer my 1st UK pressing and the 1973 UK repress better.

The OG Vertigo has "more bass", but overall, I think the OG Warner is more balanced, while still having adequate bass.

Don't know why this was even issued by Rhino. The first Black Sabbath album wouldn't even make it into the top 1000 best sounding recordings. Probably the bottom 1000.
