Hello, Great stuff! I'm about to start my dumpster rental bizz in Vancouver , B.C. Sorry for my ignorance (something that scares me), but how it is when you say 8 rentals in 9 days? I mean, by having only 3 cans, and you rent each can for the day, how you're able to multi rent the cans when they supposed to be rented?
So I do scrap metal removal I've been doing it for about 25 years. I own 2 trucks a 2013 F150 V8 gas. Which I use for mostly light stuff And running around because it gets better feel economy. My big truck is a 2013 F250 gas also It has a hydraulic lifgate Is on the back of it for picking up things that are really heavy.. And I also own 3 trailers at 24' flatbed and 2 flatbed in 26 and a 1/2 by 10' utility trailers with wood sides.. And I do a lot of house clean outs and I load the trailers but it's getting harder now as I get older to load and unload it would just be easier to dump them... So I just purchased a hook lift truck. And 10 containers to use for my personal scrap metal and pop and possibly renting them out.. Hopefully this brings an extra revenue when the scrap metal prices are low and in the Winter months..
So I have a 2020 GMC Sierra Denali 2500 Diesel. My buddy has a diesel truck. We both have full time jobs and are looking for an out but it'll be a couple years before we can leave. Diesel used 1999 Freightliner You can still buy a decent hook lift used. You are right when you say its going to be around the 40k mark in price but its worth it especially starting out with one truck .I have found the best way to get volume up out the blocks is getting a contract with a national track builder, and then focus on the single family homes/ businesses etc. Need to get that volume up to cash flow pay the bills.....keep the lights on. If you do that.....in regards to your point with insurance the National Track Builders are going to want 2MM &2MM! For insurance!!! And that a lot more money....so you need to get the volume up. Track Builders want to be hands off of any Liability .....you get hurt they want your insurance to handle it. You hurt someone else they want it on your insurance. You back into the house and knock it over.....your insurance. Just my thoughts on your comments. Hope I added something to it.

Do not have a business but I drive an 8.1L gasser on a 3500 dually chassis. Reason is because of the awesome price for a great truck. Looked into a 14K Lamar dump trailer last weekend.
Hey Heath, long time supporter and run a small dumpster operation with 15 containers on a udump setup. Been looking to scale up to 550 but that will be more down the road for me. Wondering what your thoughts are on gas vs diesel on a 550 with a hook on it? Fords new gas 7.3 seems pretty attractive and not sure how it stacks up to the 6.4 or 6.6. Gas seems attractive to me because they’re cheaper to get into and seem to have less maintenance than a new diesel. Wondering what your take is?
Hey Jon! Thanks for the support, I’m actually in the same boat right now. I want to upgrade to a 550/F600 and am debating the engines. The 7.3 gas does peak my interest due to the price point and good reviews
I would not go gas with a 550. It’s kind of redundant. Why get the bigger vehicle to tow more and then have it with a gas engine? Gas engine isn’t going to give you the high torque used for pulling like a diesel. they use the 7.3 in the smaller trucks too, but now your even heavier than a 250/350, still have the same power but now your chassis is more robust and heavier to handle more load so the gas engine is going to guzzle like no tomorrow. Hopefully they have a transmission that’s geared shorter but with more gears if you go gas. I’d go with the diesel. The added weight on The diesel isn’t going to effect it to much unlike a gasser.
I know every state, city and county will be different, but are you saying if you live in a big city like Dallas or Phoenix, it will be hard to do business for a small guy starting out? Can anyone help me with some info regarding this?

16 cubic yard interchangeable dumpsters. A 14000 lb GVW bumper pull trailer. Only a minimum half ton pickup truck needed! AMK LEVEL LIFT

$2,600 for commercial insurance for one truck in NM. Who does your general liability insurance for your company?
Cummins all the way!
Where did you get your dump trailer/dumpster? I can't find anything
3 trucks all gas two ram 1500s and a f-350
I got a ram 1500 5.7 L that would work?
The unknown of having jobs/work lined up is the only thing stopping me. How do you get past that hurdle?
You gotta take some risk in life if you want to be successful man.
Took a while , I worked my day job and ran this on the side for over a full year
Start part time like I am and then just expand as the business grows. Good luck
I worked full time and did handyman work after work and weekends, after having a few good weeks I started to line work up and then walked in and quit and went and started my business. Mine is different, if your looking to do something like this I'd suggest getting in touch with home remodeling companies, roofing companies etc. Get them to call you
Do not have a business but I drive an 8.1L gasser on a 3500 dually chassis. Reason is because of the awesome price for a great truck. Looked into a 14K Lamar dump trailer last weekend.
Nice 👍
Where in upstate -NY are you? I’m in western -NY.
can I use my cargo van with a hitch on the back to tow the trailer?
As long as it's rated for the weight why not?
I feel you bro! It’s hard to start a business when there is not a lot of capital $$
Very helpful👍🏾
6.4 gas Did not know at the time I bought the truck I would be getting in the dumpster business
The 6.4 still has power!
@@lakechamplainsanitation I do agree with you however that torque from a diesel it’s hard to be especially when you got 17,000 pounds behind you
Hey Heath, long time supporter and run a small dumpster operation with 15 containers on a udump setup.
Thinking about doing this with a 2500 in California Is it what kind of income # you see with 5 dumpsters ?

On the residential pickup side it could be harder if a large company has a city/county locked in bid to service thousands of residents
@@lakechamplainsanitation Thank you for the response. Are you referring to trash pick up or the dumpster rental part of the business?
@@david894 residential pickup
Where you love you uave to ask to store stuff on your own property
Cummins Diesel 2500.
Nice!
Is that a Ryobi sponsored shirt,?
Will be doing a Dumpster rental business. Diesel Ram 2500 .
Do you use your personal cellphone number or do you have a separate business phone and number?
Currently personal but changing soon to have 2 phone numbers
@@lakechamplainsanitation Hint Google phone numbers can allow you to use the same phone and call through their app. Assignment of phone number to other phones or multiple phones, look into it.
@@lakechamplainsanitation thank you for the advice! Keep making videos. Big inspiration for all of us!!!
I'm switching from T-Mobile to Verizon Business. I can keep my personal number and have an additional one for the Business on one phone. $30 a month per line, unlimited with Hotspot. I didn't go with Google because any Business needs to have a completely reliable service.
How many dumpsters do you have?
5 right now more coming in the spring!
Great video
Ram 3500 Diesel. 6.7 Cummings has all the power I need 💪 what kind of trailer do you have?
Nice!! Mines a PJ
Junk removal and dumpster rental. Dsl F250 4x4 and two dump trailers.
Nice!
I know you mentioned 3/4 ton min. Due to the weight staying under Cdl limit would you go right to a 1 ton Dooley? Or stay lower with the 3/4 ton? I’ve commented before and I appreciate your support and feedback. Thank you sir. I love your channel.
I would stick to a 3/4 ton to be safe just gotta check the GVWRs
@@lakechamplainsanitation thx man. Keep up the hustle man

I drive F-250 gas ⛽️ . No need for the Diesel costs I don’t do heavy towing with it .
Nice! We don’t have enough space to store equipment, more dumpsters coming in spring and potentially bigger trucks! Need a large shop for service and an office for summer staff
@@lakechamplainsanitation Thanks for responding so fast . I just deleted my question you answered my question in the video thanks . Did someone call the town or a town official called you about having more equipment at your location .
Man that insurance is cheap.. our class 8 trucks are doing $1500 a month each insurance
I believe it. Even when we get a compactor it will be a small under CDL truck
Im basically broke, but i have 2016 Toyota Tundra V8
Diesel
There is no Z in diesel!!!😂😂🇺🇸. Such a pet peeve!!!!!!!
I am south of you in NY. I want to start this for a side hustle on top of my main job. I feel there is just too many other dumpster companies around me. Any suggestions?
Quit being scared. Just do it. Price yourself to Compete. Push through them.
There’s gonna be soooo much competition from all this y’all better be ready to get creative with your advertising... brand yourself to stick out like a sore thumb!
Yep its ugly out there. Trailer dealer has roll off trailers and dump trailers sold before they even get delivered from the factory. On top of that, you have endless morons charging nothing killing the game.
