This man is so beloved in New Orleans. When he went missing after Katrina, we all went nuts, even though we didn't know him personally - he was a friend to all. RIP Fats, you were definitely loved.
@@TheTrollMastah No, he didn't. He went missing for a time, everyone was very worried about him. And I never said he "died in hurricane katrina"... I said he was missing. Of course, now he's passed away.
Saw Fats in 1982 playing a gig on a riverboat in New Oreans--just an amazing performer, belly bumped the piano across the stage, had everybody up dancing and singing along with all his hits. Dave Bartholomew*, one of the architects of rock and roll, passed away at the age of 100 on June 23rd, 2019... He partnered with Fats Domino on early rock classics including co-writing “Ain’t That a Shame.” The New Orleans trumpeter, band leader, producer, songwriter, and arranger was involved in many iconic songs including “Lawdy Miss Clawdy,” “Blueberry Hill,” “I’m Walking,” and “I Hear You Knocking”... Bartholomew was band leader for one of New Orleans premier R&B bands when he became an A&R man for Imperial Records. At Imperial, he brought in Fats Domino, working with him on combining R&B with big band, jazz, and country to create early rock and roll. Bartholomew was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991... May he R.I.P. * Mr. Bartholomew was the composer of "Blue Monday"...
A few days ago I walked to a garage sale and found a Fats Domino 78 rpm shellac of Blue Monday in very good condition. I have a 1961 GE record player and I had never heard of this song before. I played it. My wife came in the room and said , "That sounds good!" Yes it does.
I had not heard this song in such a long time - over fifty years - I had forgotten about it, even its title. But now I hear it again I remember I liked to hear it when I was in my teens and turned the radio after finishing my School Homework. Good song and specially the talent the late Fats Domino has, that is not present in any of today's singers.
Here is one of my favorite singer singing one of biggest hit song of all-time. This is so wonderful to hear today and will represent the working man who works for a living and that guy loves his day off.
How you managed to get this video put together is nothing short of amazing. Its amazing in the fact that, the audio you have is a much earlier of version of the song and you have it matched perfectly to something done over 25 years later. Nice job.

Got to work like a slave all day
Here come Tuesday, oh hard Tuesday

Here come Wednesday, I'm beat to my socks

'Cause Thursday is a hard workin' day
And Friday I get my pay
Saturday mornin', oh Saturday mornin'
All my tiredness has gone away
Got my money and my honey
And I'm out on the stand to play
Sunday mornin' I'm feelin' bad
But it's worth it for the time that I had
But I've got to get my rest
