Not everything has to have a silver lining but I genuinely think this will help you continue to be such a well rounded coach. You are an inspiration, your honesty is so refreshing ❤
Ahhhh guys this is amazing! You’ve both shown your true character in keeping going and supporting each other! As you said, you can’t always have a good race, but doesn’t make the hard ones any better 😢. Well done both ❤
Glad I’m not the only one that struggled on the course, well done for keeping going, what you see as a disappointing time for you is still an amazing time for most people 😅
Didn’t go to plan but what a special memory to cross the finish line together as a reminder of a team that you two are - for Ironman and for life in general. I loved the race video 💕
Everything happens for a reason Laura, u had an amazing race in Copenhagen and u had an amazing race in Cascais, both for v different reasons but equally as important as each other, how often do u get to complete an Ironman with ur other half and get such amazing race photos, that perfectly document the love and support ur partner gave to you when u need them most, those memories just can’t be bought (well u did pay for them but u know what I mean!) there will always be another amazing race in terms of competing but there might never be another amazing race with ur man next to you, I think this is an Ironman to be cherished 🩷🩵
@clairhardywynn5620 you are SO right, thank you for this amazing comment 🫶🏼 that's such a good way to look at it, and really I've just had amazing races this year for a variety of reasons. I'll always remember this race with a smile because getting round and finishing the race with Gaz was the beat feeling!! Thanks again xx
Hi Laura, I've just started following your channel and I've already seen some of your videos. I'm doing my first 70.3 in Cascais on October 15th and I'd like to ask you a few questions, if you can help me I'd be very grateful. One of the things I've noticed in your videos is that you're very careful with your diet during the race, with the appropriate supplementation. For a distance of 70.3, what do you recommend eating before, during and after the race? The week before the race, we should eat a lot of pasta and carbohydrate-rich foods, right? What do you eat for breakfast? What supplements do you take? Can you tell me separately by transition what supplements you think are important to take, including the sodium you put in the water bottles in each transition bag? I'm sorry to bother you with these topics, but I've noticed that you're very careful and judicious and as it's my first race I'm a little lost. As for the race itself, what advice can you give me? Does the climb up the mountain cost a lot? Thank you, Yours sincerely Ricardo Correia from Portugal
@ I wanted to do that during my Ironman but I wasn’t sure how much that would slow me down ( stopping to look). I hate not knowing my pace when swimming (until the end )
God my lady parts were in agony on my last 70.3 & peeing was even more painful on the run! I tried chucking water over myself too but it was so stingy and sore down there. Any tips or suggestions to help with this?
@melodywoods7971 so it's against the rules in long course racing to be cycling behind someone within about 15m because you can get a huge advantage as the person in front is taking most of the effort as they're shielding you, so you can go a hell of a lot faster for not much effort, so you can conserve a lot of energy. If you get close to someone, you have 45 seconds to pass them, otherwise you should get a drafting penalty, which is usually a 5 minute penalty
I have one decent ironman in me per year, if I try a second I suck. It’s difficult to dig as deep as you need to often in my opinion- speaking as an average age grouper.

@melodywoods7971 I completely agree with you! I think it's so important to experience. Thanks so much lovely xx
You guys did so well! I'm glad you stuck together and could share the day and experience. I'm proud of you guys xx
I'm glad we did too!! Not everyday that you get to cross the finish line of an ironman with your partner! Thanks lovely xx

How did you know your swim pace ? Do you look at your watch every 500 meters when it beeped ?
@@taraorourke yeah I take a quick glance at it when it vibrates just to see where I'm at
@ I wanted to do that during my Ironman but I wasn’t sure how much that would slow me down ( stopping to look). I hate not knowing my pace when swimming (until the end )
@taraorourke I didn't stop, I just turned my hand slightly to see my watch. If I missed it, i didn't get too stressed about it 😊
@ I need to practice this lol

@@esmerose5384 I'm still working that one out haha. But I'm going to get a new saddle as this only happens on my TT bike, not my road bike x
So emotional watching tiu cross rhat finish line together 🥹❤️
@@tinacoleman8143 aw I knooowww!! Special memory for sure 🥹😊
Proud of you both ❤ This experience will help you in future races.
@markbardsley766 thanks dad ❤️ love you
Think we’ll look back at this as one of our best ever races!
I agree!!
Also can you please explain to a non triathlete what the drafting on the bike is and why we don’t like people who do it? ❤
@melodywoods7971 so it's against the rules in long course racing to be cycling behind someone within about 15m because you can get a huge advantage as the person in front is taking most of the effort as they're shielding you, so you can go a hell of a lot faster for not much effort, so you can conserve a lot of energy. @@laurabardsley6205 thanks for taking the time to explain. What jerks
Based on your experiences leading up to today, what are you going to do differently for the next race?
Change my saddle and TT bars, not panic and then over fuel, and not do 2 Ironmans in one season!!
@@laurabardsley6205sounds like a good plan 💪🏼

Yeah I've definitely learnt that and completely agree with you! One is enough, both mentally and physically 🥹😬
