I was at the Feb 19 Traviata where Oropesa was simply outstanding, but I wasn't surprised. The first time I heard her was at some outdoor July 4th concert in (Madison?) NJ ten or more years ago. She was maybe the fifth singer to perform. I guess the others were okay. As soon as Oropesa opened her mouth I turned to my wife and said, "This is a singer!" (I had to walk around behind the stage to find out who she was.)
Awesome. Seeing it in Philly on Friday! I've stood on stage with some of the best at Lyric in Chicago, the CSO and here in Philly and kid you're right up there with them. Break a leg.

I immediately recognized Andrew Bisantz (the pianist) because he is the artistic director and conductor for the opera company here in Eugene, Oregon. He's a brilliant and wonderful musician and has taught me a lot over the years. What production were you working on with him?
