  • Hi.. In this video you will see how I made a 3D printed motor. WARNING! If you do decide to make one, Make sure you take some safety precautions as motors made out of plastic can be very dangerous because the plastic can give way at high speeds and cause serious injuries... Thank you for watching.

    im just getting into learning the basic principals of DC motors and little electrical projects so I'm definitely excited to give this a go! my plan is to learn more about the DC motor by making various 3d models of different motor builds.

    You need to balance the rotor and select magnets based on weight.

    Can we compare this build with 3d printed axial flux motor with the same volume as this motor? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the two?

    Nice build! What was the trick to getting it to self start? Adding more coils? I'm experimenting with large 3d printed brushless motor designs on my channel, I cannot get it to self start, any ideas?

      Imbed the magnets to make a ipm bldc motor it should rev tidy and with iron based filament have a decent torque output, look at a qs138 motor stator and rotor

    After the copper wires are braided, there are 3 wires visible, but after connecting them to the battery, there are 4 wires. How did this happen? What is wire 4th wire for?

  • @fussylion2798
    @fussylion2798 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Sorry, I'm very inexperienced in electronics, but why in 2:40 there are 3 wires and then, in 4:10 there are 4, how do you get the fouth and how do you know which is the neutral? Thanks

    • @CoolStuff1
      @CoolStuff1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a 3 phase with a Y winding motor as shown in the wiring diagram. At first the type of ESC I was thinking to use to run the motor only required the 3 wires coming from the start of the 3 phases but I ended up using a motor driver that required the 4th wire coming from where the ends of the 3 phases are connected together... Hope this makes sense...

    Nice video, I noticed that the diagram is wrong in some areas as the coils should connect inner to outer.

    you have to put iron cores in the coils, otherwise torque and efficiency will be too low.
