Very cool with connecting the LEDs that way, never did...but now I might dork around! :) I did like the dial pointer flashing like that! As far as why the eyeball vs camera thing is, is very simple...the eyeball see's slower then the shutter of your camera.
Depending on where in the world you are will dictate on what speed your cameras shutter opens and closes, if you are in 50hz land, then at default, your shutter will open and close 50 times per second, the same is true if your in 60hz land. Now, if your camera is in auto shutter mode, most people either dont have manual control or they just dont set them up...in auto mode, depending on the light that is reflective or directly bouncing into the lens will dictate at its speed...in bright light, your shutter speed will go faster...camera dependant...could go as high as 1/10,000p/s ...that's 10,000 times per second...in dim/low/no light your shutter can go as low as 1/16th per second (camera dependant) and lights will be the brightest element of your shot and the image in general will become smeary.
If you every watched the movie "Saving Private Ryan", the fast moving war scenes was shot in very high shutter speeds, gave it a fast and choppy, busy look, when that came out, a lot of movie makers used that trick. I've been meaning to do a video on this very same topic but have been busy...now due to the fact traffic on my site has petered out, I dont think I will as I just may abandon my site in general...no need to put in a lot of work if no one watches...I have other things I can use my time with. Thanks for the video OS, stellar as usual! ~Jack, VEG

I also wanted to stated that because the shutter speed, it is either going faster or slower then light...in the case of LEDs, the light does "emit" at a speed...just like newer non-linear power supplies and other electronics parts....on / off. ~Jack, VEG

Thanks, Jack, VEG, for that great, in-depth explanation! I knew there had to be an explanation, but just didn't know what it was. I think you might just be experiencing a lull; happened to me too. I will try to promote your channel in my next video or description. Perhaps stick to the videos which are watched the most? Thanks again!

@@OldSchoolElectronics My pleasure! Its a topic I know very well...I did it for a living before retiring. It may very well be a lull, Ill rough it out a while before any major decisions. I appreciate your support very much! I really did enjoy this video...I wonder what I would have done facing that challenge as well...we will never know until one day a video is posted! :) Take care my friend. ~Jack, VEG

Would be cool if you could make some beginner's video and photgraphy videos!

I have the same amp and I need a solution to replace of the 5+1=6 dial bulbs. I think the voltage for the lighting circuit is 6.3 volts for my 110 volt Marantz 2215B amplifier. The old bulbs were 8 volt 200mA. I live in europe so the voltage here is 220 volt. And the cycle is not 60hz, it is 50hz. So should I go for LEDs that are in the video or SMD type leds? Should I wire 3 Leds on a board and use a resistor? Please help sir. Kind regards
