Cut a hole at the bottom, makes it easier to place the light in, and you don’t have to stick your hand in the pumpking for the light when it start rotting.
I worked in a grocery store. Started off as a bagger. And then worked up to cashier. And helped in other departments. Then went and worked in produce. I loved it.
In the future make sure you set them on the floor so you can see if they sit right. I learned real quick once I got home in the past and the side I planed to carve on is on an angle facing toward the ground! LOL! Energy drinks make you tired? Roasted pumpkin seeds ROCK!! Make them like you do Chex Mix. Altered to the batch size of course but AMAZING!! Take a sharpie next time and write name on the bottom! If you do fancy pumpkins make sure you scrape (inside) the side you are carving on thinner. Take the time. It is worth it! Turns out so much better and easier to carve. They look great! Looking forward to Aubrey's too!!

Congrats Jacob! And I feel the same way as Aubrey about this time of year. I was suppose to be born on Halloween but I was born on November 5th instead! Also dogs can’t eat raw pumpkin has to be cooked. Same with the seeds they can eat pumpkin seeds but you have to take the shells off. Good for deworming too
They can eat the raw pumpkin. My vet actually tells us to give our dog raw pumpkin just no seeds unless roasted, definitely no skin leaves or stems. It helps her poo. Just have to be 100% sure it’s not rotten at all is what’s important
The way to carve a pumpkin that really glows is to scrape the sides to about 3/4 to 1/2 inch thick. The thinner walls will make a Jack-O-Lantern that glows much like a paper lantern.
When you are done with the pumpkins try to find a open field or where ever you know deer rome the area cause deer love pumpkins and they are really good for them

With pumpkins I go to a second hand store and pick up metal cookie cutters and use that and a hammer this way it’s easier for my hands then cutting eyes out plus it looks funny with cookie cutter eyes Also you can cut a small hole on the side and lean in your candle that way it’s easy to change the candle if the the battery dies
I'm with Aubrey. I love carving pumpkins. Last year I did Maleficent and Hades on a pumpkin and a Wicked (the Broadway play) pumpkin. Still deciding what to do this year

I live in North Alabama and the farmers tell us to wipe down the pumpkins with bleach and water mixture. Do it a couple of times will help it last a little longer by killing the bacteria on the skin, Rhine, hull?

Make the teeth out of a peeled raw potato. Soak the potato in lemon and it won’t brown. Use tooth picks to hold in place. Great video as always!!! Xoxoxo

I've never carved one in fact this is the first year I've ever even bought one, my 9yr old insisted but he doesn't want to carve it, just put it outside our front door, I've noticed a few of my neighbours have done the same. It's not really a thing here in Ireland I think I've mentioned that before, back when my mom was a kid and even before her people would put out a swede (turnip as we call them here) and put human teeth in them to ward off evil but even as a kid I never saw that. Only people with a lot of money would carve pumpkins and put them out, there was one lady who lived on my street who never had kids she always carved pumpkins and put them on her doorstep (I think she was the only one) she always had the best sweets (candy) and my dad did a lot for her as she was on her own, painting or decorating or fixing things around her house so she always gave my siblings and I the best stuff and even money, and there was a lot of us I'm in the middle of 7 which even in the 80s and 90s was a lot for a Catholic Irish family, some of my memories was my siblings and I all dressed up going from house to house, the younger 3 would have to be home by a certain time so we would drop them home get a fresh bag and go back out to the areas the smaller ones weren't allowed to go or it was too far for them to walk, my littlest sister was terrified of everything Halloween the fireworks the houses dogs barking even the kids dressed up so until she was back home with mom we couldn't go to the best parts of the neighbourhood. That was a great crazy memory the spiders 🕷 ❤❤❤
Just a tip when grabbing pumpkins: Never grab them by the stem. If the stems break off then the pumpkins rot faster. Know this tip from helping run a pumpkin patch for 5 years.
Here is a tip: if you are covering your jack-o’-lantern, and the tooth falls off or something like that like Treys did get a toothpick put it inside the tooth and then with someone’s help put it back where it supposed to be

If your dogs get the runs give them pumpkin purée fresh not canned(has sugar) and it helps firms them up and settle their stomach

Spray the exposed parts of the pumpkin with a mixture of bleach and water. It always helped keep mine longer when I lived in FL.
