    I love how you took the time to try going over or under one spline to show us that it’s REALLY hard to miss it. Great vid!

    Quick FYI for anyone watching this in order to do theirs. You really only need to mark where the rotor position is before you remove the dizzy. The second mark is just confusing and unnecessary. Just fiddle until it lines up. Just did mine, now my Pathfinder is running like new. It's easy asf.
    Great video! It helped and is much appreciated.

    Lots of videos on this, but this guy was the only one showing how to unlatch the wiring connectors! It was a pain trying to figure this out since I've never worked on this make and model. THANKS! Thumbs up!

    is it really necessary to set the engine at top dead center? It seems as though you could just mark it where it was at.

      its not needed.. just drop the new one in and cpu will auto time it.

    On my 2001 Xterra 3.3, in the Haynes Manual and on the Nissan page, it shows the timing marks as being 0,5,10,15,20. So the first mark would be TDC not the second mark

    Hello!
    Is this true for 2000 Nissan Frontier 3.3 L? Is the TDC in the second line or the first? I an a little confused. Help me please!

    Thanks. I used a smoke machine to find any vacuum leaks on my 98 Pathfinder 3.3L (am having random mostly mild misfires at RPMs above 2,000). There seems to be one coming from the bottom of the distributor, like where it rests on the block. Is there a seal there that can leak air? Or somewhere very near it? I can't see exactly where its from.

    my timing light has no settings, should I still align the marks to 15 deg or is your timing light adjusting/compensating for something else?

    Can someone explain to me what that timing light is doing flashing at a crank pulley? How is it telling you anything? I get its on pulsing on the first spark plug wire but how do you read the Light to know its off timing or correct?

    You should have showed which way you roatoted the distributor at the end there. Did you go towards left or right and just move by turning the cap or what thanks ?

    Let me give you guys some advice. If your're in there, there is a good chance your pathfinder has high mileage not to mention the age. So I highly recommend you replace the bypass hose under that distributor. My '99 has 265kmi and that hose just popped at -7f.

    DON'T USE A RATCHET TO RE-INSTALL THE HOLD-DOWN BOLT!! The mounting plate for the distributor is aluminum, and is very easy to strip out... Don't ask me how I know. ☹
    Use a long screwdriver to get the bolt started. Use a magnetic screwdriver or a magnetic pickup tool to help guide the bolt into place and be patient while getting it started.
    If you do strip it out, it's not the end of the world. You can repair or replace the hold-down bracket ($40) but learn from my mistake and save yourself the headache.
    Otherwise, this is a great tutorial video.

    New distributor has timing marks on shaft so really no need to mark it but I did anyway

    Hi,
    Thanks for the video. I performed this exact change on my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder 3.3 . I have no spark now. I cant get it to turn over what so ever. have spent two days now and cant figure it out. I dont think I am getting spark to the plugs now either. Once I hooked up the timing light it never flashed at all. I used a different light and still nothing. It will crank but never start. I at at a loss. Do you have any advice

      i have the same issue with my 2000. my dad took the distributor off without marking anything. so now i dont get a start. i would be glad if knew what is causing my issue. seems like we both have same problem. good luck.

    • @kevinmctavish852
      @kevinmctavish852 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you may have bought a bad distributor, if you bought it on "clearance' and it was cheap, you've got a bum distributor. i had the same problem, bought a better quality one, followed this procedure to the letter, all good.

    • @bayardocordoba6249
      @bayardocordoba6249 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a "crank but no start" means 2 things: they sold a bad distributor, or you are out of timing.

    Is it true that replacing this distributor will fix the p00340 code?

    • @Pr0ph3cy-k5z
      @Pr0ph3cy-k5z 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, not really. You need to figure out what caused the Camshaft Sensor code first. Check for spark and voltage. I just ran into this issue on my 2001 Nissan Frontier 3.3 after changing the number 1 fuel injector due to a cylinder 1 misfire. Immediately after replacing the fuel injector, it threw the Cam and Crank sensor codes. I ended up cleaning my old fuel injector and reinstalled it. My codes went away. A friend of mine with a 2000 frontier 3.3 had the same code. His issue was his timing belt jumped a few teeth.

    Is it true the Cam Sensor is in the distributor for 2001 Xterra 3.3?
    Throwing code p0340.
    The xterra turns over, sputters until I give it some gas and it shakes like all hell then completely shuts down.
