Hi Shonya! I suffered and tried many things to alleviate the pain of arthritis and the end result was to see my hand surgeon and have the arthritic bones removed and replaced in both hands at the thumbs! So for anyone at their wits end, I suggest seeing a surgeon for your hands. It doesn't mean you have to have surgery, but that's who I'd go to again. I couldn't even hold a marker, let alone a knife! Take good care!

@@pinkyhooks4939 Good bless you, too! Please continue to just be yourself because the way you speak and can relate to others is what most of us love to listen to. It's like sitting with some of my favorite people to hang out with when I crochet 🥰 I have that compression massager in my cart on Amazon and I did get that little Boye hook holder for arthritis. I haven't used it yet, so your demo was exactly what I needed to get inspired to do so. Have you looked up how to crochet a finger sleeve/tube-type thingy 😂 to use tension control for the yarn..? I haven't made one yet, but that looks like it'll help with being able to relax a bit more while crocheting. If you haven't, just say so and I'll be happy to try and get the link onto here for you.
You are precious! I am 66 and have every kind of arthritis I think they can come up with and losing my ability to crochet has kind of took away my life so I am going to do whatever I can to get it back!
I am so glad that you are ready to do whatever you can to get back to your passion. Even if all you can do is a chain one day and then maybe the next day two rows, it's still a start. Sometimes I get down because I feel like I haven't put out enough crochet tutorials but that's because I cannot go as fast as I used to because I may have to stop crocheting for 5 days and then pick it back up and can only crochet for 2 days. Good morning Debi! Thank you for the confirmation. Sometimes I wondered about if this was part of God's plan for me. After seeing so many responses from others,it started becoming more clear.
Subscribed the minute I saw the intro. I have had RA for 15 years and have been knitting/crocheting (undiagnosed sadly) for just as long. I can't tell you how many times I searched for someone going through the same thing. I'm so glad I found you!!!
Hello! I am so happy that my story has helped or encourage you some kind of way. I know how hard it is to live with the pain and to wonder if you can continue to do the things that you love to do. It's kinda scary and sometimes it feels hopeless. I am actually going through a 3 week flare up right now but I have come to learn what adjustments I need to make in order to continue to do the crafts I love. We may move slower in our projects but the main thing is don't stop. Also thank you for watching and subscribing. May God continue to bless and heal your body in all that you do. :)
Dearest Pinky, Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos, and for being so real in them. I have had severe spinal stenosis for over a decade. I've learned to live with the pain and to need a wheelchair. I was still happy because reading and crocheting/knitting/cross stitching are my happy places. 7 years ago I was in a car accident that left me with permanent brain damage and aphasia, which robbed me of the ability to read books along with many other things. But I still had my hand crafts to keep me busy and make beautiful things for others. One year ago I had to give all of those up because of so much pain in my hands. We've tried injections and a million other things. This week I finally had XRAYS done that showed stage 3 arthritis in both hands. I believe God led me to your channel the first time I did a search on whether I have to give up everything. You have given me hope, and that is a very precious thing to give. I may not know you, but my heart loves you for that gift. Thank you so much.
Hello Noelene! I am moved by your story and my heart feels deeply for you. I got teary eyed reading this because it took me right back to the moment where I thought I was going to have to give up all of my crafts. I really do empathize with you and I know the feeling of possibly living a life without something you feel is a fiber of your soul. I do believe your comment is a divine confirmation from God. I have been wondering if I should keep going with this channel because I feel like I have nothing left to offer, but I feel as though I should keep going now becuase of your story. I know I don't have all the answers for you at this moement but I would love to try to help you find your way back to what you love to do. If you don't mind me asking, are your hands in braces and what are some of things you are able to do with your hands?
The more I hear I can’t believe we have the same things and probably more. Arthritis, Osteoarthirits, Sipnal Stenosis, Carpal Tunnel and worst of all degeneration of the CMC joint in my thumbs (one failed operation made it worse) so I’m not having the steroid shots or operation for the other thumb. You are giving me hope!
I am ABSOLUTELY going to get one of those eggs!!! I have something to help hold the smaller hooks, but it's a royal pain to have to move it from hook to hook. This would be a HUGE help! I have steel hooks that go all the way down to a size 14 (.75mm)!! While I'm not to the point of "needing" something like that for my hands just yet, using that egg will help keep me from getting to the "need stage" a lot faster. ;) ;) Even though they say that it will only hold to size B, I think a lot of the steel hooks I have will still work with that. If not, I may be able to make my own washer to fit that will hold the smaller hooks. Only way to find out is to play around with it. However, even if it doesn't, I will still get one to use. :) I'm also going to send this to my sister. Not sure if these will help her or not, but it might help her find something that will help. Oh, by the way....when you switched from the red size C aluminum hook to the steel size 1 hook, if you look at the numbers, they are the same size. ;) ;) A size B aluminum hook is typically the same as a size 0 steel hook. If you ever decide that you want to learn how to knit, check out Nimble Needles on YT! His name is Norman and he's from Germany, but he is an AMAZING teacher!!! @@pinkyhooks4939 Thank you for the kind words. :) Just stumbled across this YT video this evening and I thought I would pass the info along. Hello Gwen 👋 God is the best guide, right! I pray all us well with you and I hope that some of my tips and advice will help. Just had a flare up a few weeks ago, but stll crocheting. 💝
I second the recomendation for the Boye egg shaped handle. I've had mine for years. I think I will have to replace it soon as the hook spins more than it used to but it really is a great tool. I do find that it doesn't work well for very tight crochet. For me it helps with carpal tunnel. I don't like the grippy stuff on it but most people like that.
Hi Angela 👋 I'm so glad to know that another person out there loves to use the boye egg handle. I totally agree with you on the tighter projects. I find it a little hard myself but all and all I think it's a must have for those of us with hand or wrist issues. Thanks for your feedback 😊
Just watched both of your videos. Thank you so much for this. I always tease that aspercreme is my new hand lotion. 😜. The hand compressor looks like it would feel awesome. I bought rechargeable hand warmers for the soothing comfort of heat on my hands.
I feel the same way about blue emu cream. I treat it like the best hand lotion ever! 😆 Isn't it interesting that some people get comfort from heat therapy and other people get comfort from cold therapy 🤔 I love the cold on my hands. Thank you for watching and I hope that it gives you a few more options to treat your hands. 💚
I went through two of the Boye egg hook holders! They were great but I crocheted up to 18 hours a day and wore completely out the washers and even the part that you take apart to change hooks. You will know when you have worn one out because the hook will start to spin while you are crocheting. But they do last a long time!
Oh wowser! I am so glad to know that someone actually has use this product and can give their opinion on it as well. I think mine might last for a long time because I only use it when I have a serious flare-up. I do not need to use it by the grace of God all the time but I will take note of what you experienced. Thank you for sharing

Thanks for these tips! I will look into these product for sure! For me, my left index finger gets soooo stiff when holding the tension string for a long time. I just bought a pair of compression gloves - hopefully it will help!
Great video! I love the suggestions. I am wondering if the compression thingy can be used for both left and right hands. You are so darn cute!! Getting nervous. You are a natural 😁 and I haven't forgotten to send you pictures. I just get busy and forget to take the pictures!
Thanks Barbara 😊 I'm sorry I forgot to mention that it does work on both hands 🙌. I switch it back and forth sometimes. I absolutely love it. I almost thought about getting another one so I could do both hands at the same time. 😆 I don't know why I was nervous doing this video. I think it was because I wanted to make sure that I was bringing something good that people would like to try to alleviate their pain. I understand about the pictures. Good morning Stacey! I was just thinking about you and hoping all is well. I'm getting ready for work and was thinking about you. I'm glad I was able to throw some positive tips out there 🙌
Hey good afternoon! So glad that other people can relate ☺️ I used a controller at work, and constantly operating control I'm panels. Also being a musician on top of that contributed to my arthritis. However I have learned to survive very well with it, and caring and continuing activities with support devices help! Love your vids girl!
Have all you mentioned and even had the CMC joint removed and it failed after two years of the painful steroid shots. It failed! So no, I’m not going to have the shots or surgery on my right thumb in fear of losing it too! Still terrible pain in the one that was operated on!
No I have not mentioned or talked about the CMC joint. All I know is after that doctor injected my hand with that steroid that scared me enough to even not ever consider operations. Now I do take oral steroids at least once a year. But I will never do that steroid shot ever again in my life. Not to mention I will never do that operation on my neck where my cervical spine is. I can't relax thinking that they would stick that needle in near my spine whether it's in my back or my neck I don't want to do it. I just keep praying that the condition does not get worse that would actually put me in a position to have to get the operation

Hi Angela 👋 I'm so glad to know that another person out there loves to use the boye egg handle. I totally agree with you on the tighter projects. I find it a little hard myself but all and all I think it's a must have for those of us with hand or wrist issues. Thanks for your feedback 😊
@@pinkyhooks4939 No problem. I'm enjoying your channel.
@@angelacarter6593 thank you Angela! 😊
Isn't it interesting that some people get comfort from heat therapy and other people get comfort from cold therapy 🤔 I love the cold on my hands.
Shanya, I hope you had a great birthday. If you have not seen your birthday video and birthday wishes from all your JOY friends, here is the link to see that video. Happy Birthday! Video link: th-cam.com/video/QEeUzhPpDlI/w-d-xo.html
Hi Cynthia 👋 I'm sorry that I didn't see your comment. I didn't get a notification that I had a comment held for review. Thank you so much for remembering my birthday. It means so much to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤
@@pinkyhooks4939 My pleasure! I pray it was a Happy Day for you! Hugs and JOY!
Look up Dupuytrens contracture . I have the same pain in ring finger and palm from that.
Thank you Carol! I most definitely will read up on this. 👌🏼
I'm going to have to buy one of those eggs. Both of my hands a riddled with arthritis. I'm curious if that compression machine will help also. 🤔 thanks for the info. ❤️
Hi mama G! I definitely recommend giving it a try. If you click on the link I think they're like $9 or maybe thinking about that finger sleeve. Either way I will continue to find things that will help people with their hands. Thanks for watching. Have a great day
Thanks for these tips! I will look into these product for sure! For me, my left index finger gets soooo stiff when holding the tension string for a long time. I just bought a pair of compression gloves - hopefully it will help!
Glad that I could pass along the information to you 😊. Let me know if anything helps you
Great video!
I figured you got busy and I check every day to make sure I don't miss it. Whenever you're ready to share I'll be there🧡
@@pinkyhooks4939 it's been TOO long! I think about you all the time 😊 I have been extremely busy and forget to get pictures. I guess I will explain more when I finally get pictures out. I am hoping this finds you good. ❤️❤️
Hi Barbara ☺ I was just thinking about you too! I know it's been awhile. I check every day to see if I get an email from you. There's been a lot going on but the good news is that I have finally finished a project and I will be recording a new tutorial this week. I hope everything has been well with you and your family. 🥰
Hey Barbara! I am editing a video that probably won't be done until 1 or 2 a.m. in the morning because it's pretty long. Just wanted to let you know that you will see the latest video from me in the morning or if you're still up at 1 a.m. LOL
@@pinkyhooks4939 hello, friend!! ❤️ I am out of town and will watch the video, probably this evening. I am excited to see your beautiful face 😁. I will be in touch. ❤️❤️
Very informative! I have polyarthritis, and have corporal tunnel in my left extremity. However I found that using compression gloves helps with flare ups. Yes, your video on how to crochet with arthritis was very inspiring!
I pray you do not have to have surgery ever! God bless you Pinky Hooks. You are an inspiration to me!
As you are to me. May God bless you and show you favor too. 🤗
