    I must confess -- I like the sound of their voices. I'm into that part more than the stories. Very familiar old likable voices. [:-)]

    I’m a truck driver and I listen to this show a lot. This is by far the best sitcom made for radio. My favorite was the piano teacher episode. I laughed my ass off, we need more sitcoms like this! Seriously

      I agree, I stared listening to this show about 5 months ago! My mother and father used to talk about old radio shows. My mom really liked this one growing up. I listen to Amos and Andy at bedtime till I fall asleep . Love it so funny !!

      My dad showed old time radio to me as a kid I use to fall asleep to it. At the age of 30 I discovered these existed on YT and the rest is history as they say!

      So true. I'm 47yrs old and have been listening to Amos n Andy at bedtime since I was 10 yrs old back in 1987. Gosden and Correl are timeless in their comedy writing.

    ......the 1928 to 1960 radio show was created, written and voiced by two white actors, Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll, who played Amos Jones (Gosden) and Andrew Hogg Brown (Correll), as well as incidental characters...it was a different time.....

      I really enjoy Amos and Andy. During World War II they only paid tribute to the soldiers, the black soldiers.

    The 1943 broadcasts have had the original Rinso commercials removed. This is how the master recordings survived. Starting with the 1944 season, most episodes are unedited.

      I’ve noticed that too. I have two thoughts on this. First, maybe at the time they were recorded the Rinso spots were scoped out on the original discs to make editing easier for AFRS (Armed Forces Radio). My second thought is that many years ago when the big old time radio show collecting boom happened, 1970’s, whoever owned the original copies distributed them with the spots scoped so stations could air their own spot sets in those spots. Who knows, I could be way off on both counts.

    I remember when it was on TV
    Funny isn’t racist it’s funny and these guys are great professional actors that transcends race 👍🏻
    I read once Andy was also a successful film director and had a long career
    He was one of the highest past black actors in his time

    TUVM for the upload, but honestly, I'm almost shocked that YT has allowed you to post these wonderful comedies or that enough people haven't whined causing them to be taken down. My mom absolutely loved A&A. I can vaguely recall the tv series with actual black actors being cast sometime in the late '50s.

      They were just impersonating other people without any malice toward a particular race. Too bad a few folks got pissed off.

      These People lacked innovation, were not creative, and they obsessed over Black people. This show is indicative of that fact.

      @Vincent Nichols
      I agree to an extent, but they do it with such empathy and affection that it's really a commentary on human foibles generally. But that is my impression as a white person. How African Americans felt--and continue to feel--should weigh more heavily in our collective evaluation of these types of portrayals.

      @A B
      Take a look at some of the archived photos of Gosden and Corell from their minstrel days in garish, golliwog-style blackface. Even the theme song for the show came from the Confederate film "Birth of a Nation." The creators came from a strongly segregationist background.

    One of the essences of comedy is pattern, and sub-essences include keeping or breaking patterns. At (9:00:00) i was prepared (and gleefully anticipating) Gabby Gibson's back-up / drive off from his initial gladhand to hoping-for-a-touch Andy Brown. After his brief (pun intended) buildup to Andy about his swell practice, how would Gabby wiggle away? Them---pattern broken! For Gabby, and for the legal profession! Gabby turns honest: "Andy, i got the five dollars! Right here in my pocket, oh yeah, my pockets is full! I got the five dollars, oh yes, yes, i surely do. oh yes--i just ain't gonna let you have it!"
    Rightly is Gabby Gibson honored as a direct antecedent of Johnnie Cochran, Lionel Hutz, Saul Goodman and all the demon-hordes of the world's second-oldest profession!
    A lawyer in a flash of honesty can completely throw even one prepared by a lifetime of cynicism: i was NOT prepared for Gabby there, no i wasn't, i certainly wasn't, no, not prepared! Amos, would you'a been prepared?
    Ah, lovely, LOVELY!
