    I listen to these
    lovely old shows
    with a little earbud,
    while dozing off💤.
    Not to say they send
    you to sleep ! They
    are comforting , with
    gentle humour , no vulgarity,
    and plenty of laughter
    from the audience,
    which "registers", even
    when you're asleep.😊.
I just had a few hours
    sleep, with the
    voices of the characters
    present in the dreams !
    I woke up smiling ! 😊.
    That was so nice .😊
    Thank you so much !
    😊🇬🇧💕🇺🇸🦉😊🎼🇬🇧

Nice poem! I couldn't even make up any of those sentences because my generation is the slowest learning one (and dumbest).

Beats Fred Allen hands down. What did people see in him anyway?! Jack was so smooth. And Rochester was the first Black radio performer to be paid the same as everyone else-- Jack made sure of that. Quite the guy.

I prefer Jack Benny but there were Fred Allen fans as well. There was a fake rivalry written into the shows so that people would tune in to hear what they had to say about each other.

Well everybody knows who Jack is but most ppl only know about Fred because they heard jack😂

Fred had his radio shop in New York and Jack in Hollywood. Jack told his audience he could play the Bee on his violin and would do it the next week. Fred got word of this and said things like Jack could never play the Bee and to show his audience he had a 12 year old boy come in and play the tune. Fred said Benny could never play that and that's when the feud started.

I feel sorry for the poor Don Wilson having to pronounce Grape Nuts Flakes every week. Try saying that ten times fast.

Noticed how Rochester is just Rochester in the lineup.

Maybe because it's his character's name, not a stage name. In real life he was known as Eddie Anderson.

Why is the humor in whatever generation this was made in was way better than the generation I am from!?? (I am a gen Z and I am NOT proud of it). The Gen Z humor is mostly inappropriate, racist, bragging, body shaming, bad quality, swears, and/or violence.

I think it's because the medium of radio favours good writing. The dialogue has to be clever because they can't rely on visual gags. Also, I get the sense these days that comedians, and television shows generally, feel they need to push the boundaries of taste to make an impression.

Why did Don Wilson pronounce proteins as 'pro-tee-ans" It makes me think I'm listening to Bugs Bunny. Holy cats, was Mel Blanc on the show at that time?

    • @chrischeshire6528
      @chrischeshire6528 ปีที่แล้ว

Mel Blanc was the voice of Carmichael the polar bear, the voice of Jack's parrot Polly, the voice of Jack's Maxwell car, the voice of Jack's violin teacher Professor LaBlanc, the voice of Herman the Insurance salesman, and he played a man who believed he was Bugs Bunny. And the Christmas time salesman that Jack always drove crazy by returning gifts for Don Wilson.

INSANE number of AD interruptions. These programs are EIGHTY years old. Sad that there are THREE TIMES the number of Ad breaks now compared to the original broadcast 😂

At 8:16:44…doesn’t sound like Deanna Durban singing…what’s the story with her supposing to be the guest? The voice is all wrong from the start…to me anyway…
