At 13:15, I did the same thing on my rebuild. I just drilled and tapped an M6 short bolt; some loctite and it's sorted. Great idea on the seal installer.... and the nylon clutch kit you sold has been very smooth. Thanks!
Remove the crankshaft main bearing to tap the new holes, clean everything up and use RTV instead of the 2 "T" rubber gaskets. Those are prone to leak oil also. Cheers!
At 10:00 here in the States, the red bottle Brakleen is the only good stuff. Rule of thumb: if it's not allowed in California, then it's probably the good stuff.
Amazing that you’ve had to resort to petrol, which is probably more carcinogenic than the additives in brake cleaner. BTW, I think the polar bear population is the highest it’s been in decades, but actual data never stopped a zealot!
as long as you dont touch it shouldnt be any problem - and if it would have been so bad all the mecanics from the 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 would have been exterminate. they used petrol day in - day out for everything
thx mike, i always use petrol for cleaning. it works and this brake cleaner is so stupid expensive here, it doesnt make any sense. still i dont get it why to put the seal on dry - doesnt it get any lubrication at all? i have a funny feeling this whity will stay a while ....
12 cans (600 ml) of Mannol 9672 brake cleaner on eBay for £25 in the UK. How long that will last will depend on the "green zealots" getting their way as they have in Canada.
Great work again Mike. Pity that you had it to bits, back together and then to bits again, but that's the joy of Land Rovers!
Perfect timing as you’ve convinced me to do mine!
No excuses now!

Yes I will do a follow-up on the clutch pressure later - it is quite surprising!

You don't have to remove the cap to drill and tap, but I have been using RTV for the Tee seals for over 14 years now
@@BritannicaRestorations Good Mike, you know...
Amazing work.
Thank you! Cheers!

I use shellite in Aus to clean, gooda.
Sounds great!

Thanks
Thank you!
I would definitely be interested in one of those alinement tools as I suspect my 300 rear seal is leaking
Let me see when JP had his CNC running ( he has a few setup problems at the moment)
I knew you would get there. I think they have weakened acetone here in the US as well.

I see you can get it in big drums there!
Dude, think of the poor man’s paintwork here…. 😂
Thanks!
Thank you!
What is the part number of the oil seal? Great job by the way.

I buy my brake cleaner in 5 litre tins, and use a Wurth sprayer. So much more cost effective.
Great tip!
That must be a water-based brake cleaner😂
Pee based! AND C$11.00 a can!

The Teflon seals are a dry fit - if you oil them - they leak!
@@BritannicaRestorations good to know - thx
why are the oil seals fitted dry?
They are Teflon like material - if you oil them they leak

Those can of uselessness cost the equivalence of £6.50 each here!
Eco brake cleaner only works on electric cars.
Nice one!
