Jules Lucien André Bianchi was a French motor racing driver who drove for the Marussia F1 Team in the FIA Formula One World Championship.
During the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, disaster struck. Heavy rain caused Adrian Sutil’s car to slide off the track at Suzuka.
On lap 43, Jules Bianchi lost control of his Marussia in Turn 7, and struck a mobile crane that was recovering Adrian Sutil’s Sauber, which had crashed the lap before. Bianchi suffered life-threatening injuries to his head, and was evacuated to hospital by ambulance.
The crash was so severe that Bianchi suffered serious brain damage and ended up in a coma. The Frenchman was transferred from the hospital in Japan to the hospital in his home town. There he died about a year later on 17 July 2015. He was the first driver, since Ayrton Senna in 1994, to die as a result of an accident in the sport. Out of respect for Bianchi, his starting number 17 has been retired from use in Formula One.

@@J-doesstuff93 Bianchi was injured Oct. 5, 2014. He was pronounced dead July 17, 2015. He was in a coma for approximately 9 months.
Now I'm remember, and the reason why Gastly so furious at gp yesterday.
Many people don't even know that in 2013 in Canada a tractor that was recovering Gutierrez's Sauber, drove over a marshal and killed him.
We had 2 deaths in F1 in 2 years, and in both cases a tractor and a Sauber were involved.
There was a close call at the 2022 japanese gp that Gasly misses the crane and was upset. It's like they never learned from Bianchi's crash 8 years earlier.

FIA fault, they did make a regulation that recovery vehicles should only be deployed after all cars are in pit, but instead they repeated their outrageous mistake and only Gasly was punished.

The fact that they had a tractor within the safety barrier AGAIN in the Japanese GP 2022 was utterly shameful.
tractor was not the issue entirely, what was the issue is that they should have done either red flag or virtual safety/safety car and the area where the tractor was should have had a enforced extremely slow speed limit

Dang one of those wrong place at wrong time. Another F1 crash aside from the accident of Gordon Smiley is of Alex Zanadi in 2001. I’d have to double check one of the videos but he lost control and just before came to a stop, he got half sideswiped/T boned and both legs were severed (in fact there are gruesome pics where you can see parts of his legs flung in air). Thankfully he survived and even got back into racing (sort of) with modified pedals years later.

Wouldn't say wrong place wrong time, many drivers prior to this used to say they were scared asf of recovery vehicles in the track, they said that it would be safety if they just let the cars in the track, FIA just ignored until Bianchi died. So imo it was pure negligence.

What’s actually sad is that a halo could have saved this as it was because of a severe head trauma, and the halo could’ve blocked that. It could’ve at least helped him out of a coma but most likely wouldn’t have killed him. Rip jules.

Halo has saved like 3-5 drivers since it's been used. In this case, it probably would not have helped, as the main impact was around that area, from the back side. Imagine lifting a tractor in the air with your head only. And that was at 200km speed.
It's not completely safe sport and never will be. The drivers know it and take the risk. There is always a possibility of something going terribly wrong. Even with best safety standards.
The halo would have not saved him, it was sudden deceleration to kill him

@@ballstick2060 he was trying to perform a stunt Where he was supposed to pass trough a lot of busses, but the 2nd bus wasn't correctly put, so when the car jumped from the ramp and passed trough them the roof of the car collided with the second bus roof, and Vincx; aged 40, died from decapitation

Fantastic, I love these simulations! You should do one on Francois Cevert, who sadly died in a Horrific crash at Watkins Glen in 1973. Also, Tom Pryce, who died in an equally horrific accident, along with a track marshal, at Kylami in 1977 - this, i think, is still the most horrific accident of them all due to the shocking brutality of it. There are sadly so many other deaths in F1 since the beginning, and really they all deserve the recognition of one of these simulation reconstructions.
The Pryce accident would be one I’d like to see. That poor kid got cut in half.

Gasly was right to be angry with FIA incompetence and track recovery. It could have ended badly even with the halo from the sudden deceleration of impact and angle. Zhous roll hoop failure is one example of a close call. Bianchis accident was avoidable...just a shame losing a talent like that.

Secondly Jules already knew there were double yellow flags as there was for the previous lap. But he just ignored it.

The simulation while admirable is not correct.
Bianchi's car did hit the back of the front end loader right on the back where the massive incredibly heavy solid steel weights are.
The car lifted up the back of the front end loader as it traveled under the heavy commercial tractor.
The car simply drove itself through the weight shearing the entire top of the car off and crushing Bianchi's head and helmet down and back as it did it.
Bianchi's helmet was fractured in a circle and driven down on top of his skull which crushed the top of his skull down into his brain.
The FIA has said that even the halo would have not saved Jules Bianchi's life.
Yet Pierre Gasly drove past THE EXACT SAME TYPE OF TRACTOR ......ACTUALLY ON TRACK AT THIS YEARS JAPANESE GRAND PRIX.....IN THE RAIN.
Simply insane.

There was a safety car but the conditions were so bad that he still acquaplaned and went straight off
The *Yellow Flags* that they were using had blended into the background. It had been because of the *Deluge of Rain* that was invading the track due to the *TYPHOON* that was approaching the land. They should have at least either postponed *OR* canceled the race until the next day, but they didn't and in the end, *Jules* paid the *ULTIMATE PRICE* for other people's greed.... ~ JonseyG 👲💖😿
