I'm from João Pessoa and love this city. It's not a perfect city as no other in the world and it's natural that it has its problems, but if we evaluate the pros and cons the results are positive. Compared to the biggest cities in Brazil as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, or even to Fortaleza or Salvador, João Pessoa is uncomparably better. We welcome every new citizen who comes to promote peace and contribute with the progress of our city. God bless.
We definitely feel the welcome from everyone in João Pessoa.... we have absolutely fell in love with the city and more importantly the people. So THANK YOU for welcoming us to your city 😊
I have never been to Brazil, Joao Pessoa seems to check all the boxes for an ideal destination, I would definitely be curious to go there. Thank you for the suggestion 😊
I’m so glad I found your channel. I’m loving all your content, I’ve been binge watching you guys catching up. I think you are both awesome and in formative and helpful and interesting. I would love to move there, it looks beautiful. We live in Manitoba and we just had a brutal snow storm with 30 cm of snow and it’s -16. I’m living vicariously through you guys❤
We have been watching the weather back home a bit, and it is looking quite cold!! We are so happy that you found us as well...any questions, please let us know!
Wow, you guys made such a good decision when you bought that condo, it looks like Joao Pessoa offers a good quality of life. Thank you for making us discover that area.
you guys look amazing, the place is beautiful like everything in life probably can be improved but at the end of the day look at you , and remember how you were at this time in Toronto last year …. love the video
Ahhh, thank you so much! The last year has been fantastic, and it is a great point to always keep in mind where you were in your past, we are very grateful to be where we are today!! We hope you're having a fantastic week.
Talk about other northeast Brazilian cities close to Joao Pessoa such as Natal and Recife! Let us know when you visit Natal! I really enjoy your videos (as a Brazilian with a vast experience living and travelling abroad)!
We are moving there from Floripa in Feb (Bessa) ... Floripa winter was too long and miserable... Looking forward to the weather up there... RE: Infrastructure... Can not get any worse to Floripa! Ha!
Great breakdown of Pros and Cons. I used many of the same categories to make my determination of my Mexican retirement locale. Looking forward to hosting you both at some point too.
Cuisine--When you talked about the food, were you able to find "Chicago Style Pizza"? (just having fun). I loved seeing the "inside/outside" restaurants with all the plants. And they are SO AFFORDABLE--I can't imagine paying $40! Joao Pessoa sounds like a great place to go!
Haha, we wish! It would be amazing to find Chicago Style Pizza here, but we can definitely say the food is delicious and very affordable! And the pizzas, too - we found our favorite location, a few steps away from the condo :)
I'm Brazilian, born in João Pessoa. I live in London Ontario Canada 🇨🇦. 31 years in Canada. Me and my wife bought a apartment in BESSA this year. We been planning to move out of Canada for a few years, to João Pessoa. We own a house here in London, planning to rent it while we live in João Pessoa. We hope to see you guys in João Pessoa.. we going to João Pessoa in February 2025. Spend a month there
That is amazing!! We aren't too far apart in JP! Unfortunately, we won't be there this year in Feb, but we will be back down in 2026! Your city of Joao Pessoa is absolutely fabulous, we truly love it and feel so at home! We would love to meet up once we are all there at the same time!
LOVE this video!! How long of a flight from TO? Do you rent out your condo by month? Is it on VRBO? You can barely eat fast food for 2 for $40 in Alberta!
Thank you. There's no direct time between Canada and Joao Pessoa. The easiest way would be routes like Toronto-Sao Paulo-Joao Pessoa, or Toronto-Miami-Recife. In total, around 16hours. The property manager uses Booking.com and AirBnb. We're glad you liked the video :)
Curious if it's relatively easy to eat plant based / vegan. I guess I could survive on fresh fruit 😂😂😂 I wish I spoke a second Romantic language, which would help. Looks like a wonderful place. The 1 hour trip from the airport sounds like Toronto or Montreal 😅
India is DEFINITELY on our list of places to see! Kristine has been before, but inky to a few places, so we are excited to go and explore! Any suggestions of places to go?
Hey Friends! You know I second this comment above. Yes please go back to India. My family and I will be spending Christmas in GOA India again. 🎉 Antother great video 😊!!! I think we may need to check out the city you guys are in now. It sounds really nice. But it's great see you guys looking good and enjoying life. Please keep posting ✨️🙌👏❤️@FIREWeGo
Great question. It depends on your nationality. Heres the official link www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/assuntos/portal-consular/vistos/informacoes-sobre-vistos-para-estrangeiros-viajarem-ao-brasil
Hi Gean. I'm considering an investment property in Joao Pessoa for AirBNB. Would you mind recommending an area along the beach that has good potential for year round rental. Thanks.
If it is to invest, the best neighborhoods are Cabo Branco, Tambau, Manaira, and Bessa. Cabo Branco and Tambau are very touristy. Manaira and Bessa, not as much.
You can do short term rentals BUT your income will be a lot more stable if you rent month to month or yearly. High season is DEC > APRIL JP is a ghost town OFF season You can buy a 2br apto for r$130,000 or $22,500 USD Buy 5 of those and you will have a steady income OR go to the south of Brasil's famous beaches, buy a hotel apartment and you can get r$350-550 per DAY IN SEASON when the Argentinos and Uruguayans come for vacation loaded with money The other elephant in the room is ; Have you ever tried to collect a debt or payment from a Brasilian ? Some areas are poor and if you rent to the wrong person, you're screwed when they don't pay. I would NOT do Airbnb anywhere, it's a dying idea, you can manage it yourself on OLX
I live off $1000 per month USD or less in Brasil, including my car and paid for apartment, saving $2000 a month ! Have over 20 years in Brasil If I can do it, so can YOU !
@@helciocampos Had to look on google maps to see where that city is Looks like a nice beachy area, I drove from B Camboriu to Joao Pessoa in 2003 and passed through that area. I see NO reason if you own your apto unless you have a high condo fee per month, that you can't easily live on $1,000 like me. Save $1,000 per month Don't spend money like a DRUNKEN SAILOR ! So many small grocery stores and marketplaces that sell fruits, vegs, etc a lot cheaper than the big stores But we don't do stupid things like eating out at overpriced restuarants, we can cook much better meals at home for 10% of what they charge
Great city.... yet.... a city in transition. Real Estate market is really hot. It seems to be going through a process of "gentle" gentrification. Problem is : seems to be a great place to live today .... yet .... what about 3 or 5 years from now? The city seems to be going through a phase of great word of mouth attracting a lot of people into the city which brings along with it its own set of potential problems. And that's usually my issue with Brazil : it's a country which is very unstable.

What documents are required to come there?
It will depend on your citizenship status. So if you check the government website, it will let you know.
