Thanks for the great review. People take the Camry for granted because it's been around so long and it's known for reliability. We just got the 2016 LE and couldn't be happier. It's gorgeous and runs like a top with the 2.5L. I'm thinking about buying another as I type, only an SE this time to add variety. Zipping around at highway speeds is a breeze in this car. I want the paddle shifters! LOL!
I just bought a 2014 se Camry in white last month. This car is sexy but only in the se trim. It had 51,000 miles on it when I bought it. The asking price was 14,000.
Personally, I think the SE with the 4-cylinder don't ride that stiff especially comparing to other trim level such as the LE and XLE. The LE got a softer handling and little more comfort, while the SE is a bit firmer. The SE model still ride very good, and the noise level is still minimal. My favorite part of the car is the 4-cylinder. Its really peppy & got good mid-range punch with the 6 speed auto. I will buy this car with the SE trim level over the other midsize sedans in the market.
I know some people aren't keen about the styling, but Camry owners are very loyal. Similar to the VW Golf, it advances with its time instead going bold.
Claudio Zamudio: I agree SE only version of 12-14.5 is best looking Camry overall ever. The car flows together well like 1 group designed it, unlike the cartoonish 15 refresh or the 18 redo. Classy, Elegant & Aggressive. 12-14.5 SE had best looking front fascia ever on a Camry. I wasn't real keen on rear lights but due to Angular design of the car they worked well with package and didn't interrupt the flow. Car with clean, subtle lines will age far better with time than these newer more radical. "in your face monstrosities" that they are producing now.
@@richarddobson3138 I respect your opinion. I don't think the 2012's look bad, and the 2015's look good if set up right. Here is my 2015 I dressed up a little i.imgur.com/LOsrDyH.jpg
@@wtDrake your 15 looks great...super....I know you're proud of that and you should be..let me adjust what I said before because I think I made it seem like I liked all versions of the 12-14s...I only liked the SE version. The 15-17s were an improvement over the 12-14.5 le and xle versions for sure, but I still prefer by a narrow margin the 12-14.5 SE. If the 15-17 is a dark color I feel it actually compliments what was a radically different front fascia..If it's a light colored 15-17 then I prefer the 12-14.5( SE version only) ...by a wider margin. I will say that while I initially preferred the more angular styling of the 12-14.5, I can also see why some people could also consider it boring looking at it from certain angles.. I probably shouldn't have used the word cartoonish for the 15-17, as actually the 18-19 SE & XSE may be a better match for that word. Although I do like the 18-19 redo quite a bit, the way radical changes on the SE and XSE may scare a lot more traditional conservative buyers off. I don't think that design will age well long term as compared to the 18-19 L, LE, & XLE despite the busy bars across the front of those fascias. If I can figure out how to do it I will send you a pic of my 13 SE...Thanks & congrats on beautiful car
Steve I know you touched a bit on the ride quality, but how well does it really perform on harsh bumpy roads? And which would you recommend in terms of ride quality, the Toyota Camry or Buick Lacrosse?
The 2014.5 version of this car is awesome. The Kia Optima is a nice looking car. As far as sustained quality and endurance, my money is on the Camry....
I AGREE... I OWN A BLACK 2014.5 CAMRY SE SPORT FULLY LOADED....I LOVE IT 👍💛💕💯 THIS IS A VERY NICE SEDAN N I KEEP IT CLEAN N WELL MAINTAINED ✔️💚💙❇️🍟✳️👍🔴❤️🤓🧡
Just bought one in January 8 years later and it still cost 10k lol it only had 98000k on it tho. Cracked the oil pan lost the engine at 109k. Put a new engine in it from Toyota with 31k on it. Things prolly gonna out live a lot of newer cars just coming out and with the new ones to come out after this one. I think this is the best looking one not a fan of the bubble butt rear on the 07s and the interior isn't as nice. This generation had perfect balance, and if you found it in a 4 cylinder instead of that 3.6L v6 you won. The 6 speed trans handles I4 engine better than the 3.5. less wear so it lasts longer.
Another great review Steve. On thing that stands out to me about this Toyota is its total lack of imagination. It looks like a Acura TSX. In 2012 when you can buy a Kia Optima with all the trimmings (and even a hybrid) for the 27K that your tester stickered for - the only thing standing between them is the Toyota name which I fear is no longer worth that much mod-con sacrifice.
Who is trolling? Steve Hammes is one of the better reviewers on you-tube. It is just that the Camry is a generation behind and no longer the go to class leader. Sorry if you cant understand not everyone worships Toyota and Kawasaki. They make good vehicles, but the competitions has surpassed them in this category. If that makes me a troll. Then so be it.
It must have been love but it's over now. It must have been good but I lost it somehow. It must have been love but it's over now. From the moment we touched 'til the time had run out.
People are only buying these because it's a "toyota". If you know anything about cars, you would realize that camry is at the back of the pack now in terms of design innovation and quality. Just my opinion though...
@SweetHubby82 yea Toyota and Subaru have an alliance...look up the 2013 Subaru brz then look at the 2012 Toyota ft 86 or the 2012 scion frs...see the relation? ive also heard that Subaru builds some of Toyota parts.
@313hotboi The buick lacrosse doesnt compete against this car its a luxury car. Obviously the lacrosse its going to have a better ride. The lacrosse competes against a Lexus ES, and the Lexus ES has the better ride quality then
I don't like the new camrys. The hubcaps on the base and LE model look almost exactly the same as the XLE alloy rims. I can't even tell a base/LE from a xle unless I looked at the badging. I'd take a corolla s over this if I could fit in the driver seat comfortably.
the only reason why the Camry is popular over the Corolla is because we are FAT. Corolla is the best Toyota ever made and the most popular car around the worldwide, but here.
