Mitchell Edwards I don't understand it. She was an indie idol from our times. How come you have never heard of her? The Dress, Man Size etc... Later, To Bring You My Love... She and Nick Cave were pretty much hits. Then, with John Parish... She is still making good music.
Am I the only one who would like to see PJ doing a whole show like this: sitting in front of the desk just by herself playing the harp and singing to the camera?
I about Peed my pants yesterday when I heard Polly's bringing out new album BACK BACK FORTH LOL! LOL WHOOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!! 11YEARS WOW!!!!!! CANT WAIT!!!
Dear Polly, thank you for being not indifferent about things. I know this song is about Afghanistan issue. Now war in Ukraine. I’m in Odessa. And we had speaker from Ukraine in United Nation. Almost no reaction.
amazing song, a great anti-war song in general and against the iraq war in particular. The use of the Eddie Cochrane song 'Summertime Blues' - "...why don't I take my problem to the United Nations?' - within the context of the song is to me a perfect critique of the pro-imperilaist role of the 'United' Nations...
a record of our time....i'm not surprised that an artist from another generation did this beacuse with whats appear in music industry today expectations are low
The fact is that Adele got a great voice, and when you listen to her music once, you love it immediatly, that's why a lot of people love her. But PJ is like good Jazz or some piece of classic, it's so much greater but you've got to open your ears and be used to this kind of Music.
TheLastLivingOne With all due respect, I actually would argue the majority of PJ fans ain’t gonna be fans of Adele. I’m certainly not. She’s got a great voice but the songs are very simple and predictable, usual run of the mill mindless pop. I know a great deal of PJ fans who aren’t into Adele in the slightest. Her music IS the one I love immediately. I think more likely what you’re saying just reflects that people who are into that brand of blandpop probably would need to get used to it. Just an observation, 8 years later. Hope you’re still alive.
All you people in every video, comparing artists on and on...making the whole page a debate theatre over and over again...WHO CARES? JUST ENJOY THIS AMAZING SONG!!
This is just about the most perfect video. Especially love the end. While PJ sings out half plaintively half comically 'what if I take my problem to the united nations' a finger points to two ants crawling up a path.
Seriously, sod off with this adele caper. Polly is and has been outstanding for 20 odd years, many albums of genius and brilliance galore. Apart from Patti Smith, I can't think of a similar female artiste over the last few years who has such passion, soul and ability. i doubt if anyone can name any female who can even hold the merest flicker of a flame to Polly Jean. Go on, dare you. Double dare you!!!!!

I’ve just Discovered PJ Harvey at 45 years old how lucky am I
i saw her in berlin, i was 51, and she was even older, and she wore a robe made of feathers.
Mitchell Edwards I don't understand it. She was an indie idol from our times. How come you have never heard of her? The Dress, Man Size etc... Later, To Bring You My Love... She and Nick Cave were pretty much hits. Then, with John Parish... She is still making good music.
That's cool...I often discover music in my own time rather than the time it was released
Better late than never ! Good on ya 👍
Welcome brother
"... Oh, bugger!
Hang on..."
Thank you for this song, Polly Jean.
Let England Shake!
I don't think people realise how important this record is (the whole album)... listen to it, it speaks to the heart, not the mind
If we don't grasp in our minds what the words and sounds of this album emit, our hearts will be deprived of all emotion.
This song speaks volumes with today’s current events.
I've been living under a rock a little bit. Which events are you referring to?

She is pure genius. Love her.

A song writer and a poet how gifted can you be?
This song is so shockingly prescient and poetic.
*10 YEARS*
My favourite single of the 2010’s from the best album of the 21st Century.
this is totally underrated
The album won the mercury music prize mate. I don't think you can really call that under rated.
Heavily!
Number 4 in NMEs albums of the decade.
She’s been a massive international star for decades. She’s highly rated by both critics and her legions of fans.
@@robertoceferino1456 not enouth, she deserves an oscar, grammy, emmy, golden globe, nobel. Underrated.
One of the greatest songs I’ve ever listened to

I'm from Kyiv. The same
Everyone should listen to this when they wake up, I did for months and it always, strangely, boosted me.
Hahah the lyrics that boasted you must be - arms and legs were in the trees
Last part is the best, so much irony :)
Such a great album overall.
I love love love PJ Harvey! Her music is just magnificent.
Ah underrated masterpiece
barrow22100 not underrated at all.
@@deivyjose3470 on TH-cam, Yes it is.
This is not an underrated masterpiece,it’s just a masterpiece.💪👍🎸😍
I'm I the only one that would like to hear PJ do this song solely on that harp? ♥️ So pure
Isn't it a kantele if I'm not wrong?
@@minukarodrigo it's an autoharp if I'm not mistaken
@@rovdjurspoesi thanks for correcting me. both look similar, don't they?
Damn, the beauty in tragedy
getting into her music this month and she is such a gem! very grateful to be able to listen to her songs ❤️
She's so amazing.
Still great, 10 years on!
Amo la música de P.J. Harvey, paz entre Argentina e Inglaterra.

I love you PJ --- since I am 13 and I am now almost 40
What if I take my problem to the UN?... It's very fitting that the question is left hanging in the air. A fat lot of good...

Adele sounds like a drowning duck, not a great voice at all.
@@crystalbethseizetheday8669 Yeah, Adele seems nice and is, without doubt, a great singer, but her music doesn't touch me at all.

Pure raw PJ! Genius. Let's get more likes on this!

Flesh quivering in the heat
This was something else again
I fear it cannot explain
The words that make, the words that make
Murder
