0:45 might genuinely be the first time i've ever seen someone else do this, i've been using the house validity checker (or whatever it's called) to check for caves, pyramids, basically anything in the dark in early game for what feels like years at this point and i've always confused people whenever i do it in multiplayer lmao, it's cool to see someone else do it so casually also crazy that this is so well edited despite the fact that you did it so quickly, great job and happy new year!
funnily enough, ive used the slime god bug at least 4 times accidentally with friends. randomly after all of us dying, if the slimes we're far enough away, he'd just die for no reason. good to have an explanation now! :D
Imo, removing the core phase wasn’t that bad of an idea, but it could have been executed a little better. If the core did something more while the slimes are alive, or maybe it could leave after getting down to half health or something. (similar to old Yharon) However, I’m pretty sure slime god is getting reworked at some point anyway, and who knows if anything other than the bug would be worth changing until then.

I might do that just so I can stay on the platform. Just kinda do my own thing and not really care about the engagement. This vid won't perform well but that's fine. I need an avenue to accept my perfectionist side since I've been battling it since I started this channel. I don't want to give up but damn it has been hard. Oh so this explains why the Slime God died in my True Melee run I did a while ago. Nice to have an explanation PD: First time seeing a video from your channel, keep it up!
I've known about this slime God thing for like a year at this point, ever since I did 3x Multispawn Death mode, and as for rope strats, even in master death, you can very easily cheese KS or even GS at either ocean, since they don't bounce on water, and just sink till they go too far and then teleport to you, and yeah, you will need a bit more mobility in master death, since you need to be able to dodge the crystals, but still very easy to do. Also this works in lava too, so you can afk kill them if you either get lucky with a large enough lava pit in hell, or are on the drunk seed or GFB with the lava lakes in hell, just remember to get an obsidian skin potion from hell pots, to grab the bag.
an easier method i discovered: I have a line of platforms going up to the sky islands above so i could reach them early, just one block wide. found if i just stand up high on them and spawn them in, they just instantly die. the loot bags will be a bit scattered, but at least they're near spawn.
slimegod is funny, another thing that this reminds me of is that i've had one of the paladins permanently despawn after going off the edge of the world. Can't really replicate it, but it was fun.
ive never seen someone just skip slime god, but in my infernum playthrough i just despawned the slime and killed the core like usual, very powerful skip!
I've had this happen in my playthrough many times when my brother used to just spawn Slime God for the funny, very interesting and totally intended feature :)

Problem is that there isn't really a community that attempts or cares about calamity runs as a category. Myself included. Terraria speedrunning is already super small so the odds it branches to the modding scene is tiny. Some people have and will do it for fun but there's no active competition to my knowledge.
It's an older one but also consider people can mend this frustration with QoL and a lot of people play with a lot of it. So it may not be discussed but exist. Either way you're not wrong I haven't outright heard it in a while but I just kind of casually said it to prove a point.
Accidentally discovered that Slime god trick. Was doing a legit playthrough as a ranger. Needed to heal so I ran away really fast after getting the slime god to 60% Dude just popped and gave me the bag and I'm just ???? Whatever made some slime god items and tried the fight again. He pops again because my arena is high in the sky and the god fell off. Was so weird. Realizing it's as simple as a recall potion though is amazing.

Calamity players will get a free dash, dig speed, a shit ton of movement speed, buffed reaver shark and op accessories and still complain that the early game is too slow lol
I don't hear it very often anymore. More just a reason for me to share it than anything. But cal is also just way longer so speeding up the overall pace to be roughly the same as vanilla is until moon lord isn't necessarily bad. And a lot of the community is quite happy with what we're getting most of the time.

We're social creatures and LOVE to be competitive. And shooting people down gives us that feeling of superiority. But the more you do it, the more extreme you need to be to feel superior since you're competing with the same personality you see in the mirror. It's an endless cycle of toxicity that eventually just leads you to being an egocentric ass. Lifting people up means you have someone you can relate to, work together and solve problems together vs feeling like you know everything. So Slime God is just broken no matter what you play on. In my most recent Infernum playthrough I discovered that if you fly away from the slime fast enough it completely skips both of the slimes and sends you straight into fighting the core.
I know I’m in the minority here, but I love the slow early game. I turn all the early game buffs off calamity gives, the painful slowness makes it feel great to go from nothing to actually fun and good movement in a few hours.
I do too. It's why I normally avoid having much to any QoL mods enabled. But that's why options are good and here's one that will eventually go away so figured sharing it.

I had something slightly similar happen on my recent death/master playthrough. I beat the crimulan paladin and the core died and dropped its loot... even though the ebonian paladin was still alive? I still beat the remaining paladin so I guess I still won but I just got the loot prematurely haha

I got the duality of neurodivergence on my side (autism and adhd though both are pretty mild cases)
ive actully had this occur naturally due to the fact that i built a huge arena.
I mean the condition is SG despawns with the core remotely near you when you teleport so yeah it's incredibly easy to pull off.
