  • We are in a #crisis in #Florida. Our personalized property market is in a free fall.
Unfortunately homeowner's #insurancecompanies are becoming #insolvent. The state is stepping in and saying that they can no longer operate because they cannot pay claims. This results in thinning the choices that Florida homeowners have and families can end up with a company they don't want or worse, end up with no insurance at all.
Floridians need a high quality independent insurance agent who can help them navigate through the process.
In the last year a half dozen companies have gone insolvent. They are then liquidated and sold by the State of Florida. If you look back to the last few years that number goes up.
Unfortunately, Florida #legislature doesn't want to step in and refuses to deal with tort reform. They also are refusing to deal with the litigation crisis that is happening in Florida.
Our marketplace isn't healthy. Something needs to be done and that something is tort reform.
On paper, Florida accounts for 80% of homeowner's insurance claims in the country, but that doesn't mean that insurance companies are crooks or that Floridians sue too much. It means that bad actors come along and take advantage of homeowners and then take advantage of the system.
So what can you do? You can call your state representatives. You can either thank them for the #specialsession that is going on right now (May 2022) or tell them that they should have done more to prevent this.
If you're having trouble finding affordable insurance in Florida or have been dropped by an insolvent company, call us for help. We'll help you get through this.
