Crackin' job. I like the clamped guide for jigsaw cuts on the plywood AND the angle brace. Never seen either before & I often profess I've seen everything. Lookin' great.
This is the second DIY van build that didn't involve sponsors for every part of it. The other is Foresty Forest. Sponsored builds take forever because they have to get the item in every shot or give detailed instructions. You two are just showings us materials, telling us what you're doing and just doing it. Doesn't seem as daunting when you're not bombarded with technical terms and name brands. I know I appreciate this series a lot!
10:25 I really appreciated the chaf. It was good fun and a bit of a look behind the scenes. (And I learned a new word for my second language. Always love this!) Breaking the work down to small packages, which can be done in a reasonable time, is one of the most important things in a project. I often thought, well that will be in in an hour, and it took 4 hours. Like a reverse Scotty moment.
Seeing how Mrs Messner gives you a bit of a verbal jab now and then, such fun. The chaff keeps it real. The van is starting to look amazing, can't wait for the next video.
I’m looking forward to seeing the end result and your adventures. Probably with Paul outside in his favourite tent of the week and Mrs Messner comfortably wrapped up inside with a brew!
Great videos Paul. Little tip in case you have any more Plywood to cut. When you have measured the lines for your plywood cuts, run a Stanley knife down the line to score it. This will help cut the top layer uniformly and will help with less burred edges when using a jigsaw/circular saw. This will then lessen the amount of sanding on the edges required :)
Sorry Paul but I'm with Jo on the Chaff front. Van is coming along nicely, won't be long until you will be out on your first overnighter at this rate. Thanks for posting.
Good to see people giving tips rather than telling you how you should have done it. Not interested in converting a van myself but looking forward to the final product and the adventures where it may take you. 👍👍
Ye keep it all in warts an all lol it’s looking great now your both doing such a swell job it’s as if you’ve done a million vans before 🙏 till the next one 👊🚚👊
Enjoying the videos. I use the screwdriver bit in my drill to make a basic countersink for the screws which helps to prevent splitting of the timber. Put the bit in the hole and move round in a large circle.
Life would be so much easier with a work bench, but you're doing a great job without one, so what do I know! Those corner clamps look brilliant. And as you're both vertically challenged you can always retreat inside the van! ;-) Cheers.
Your van looks great but it's all more work than I would ever want to do. I have a no-build build in my minivan and "debuilt" it the other day in 20 minutes to return it to an empty back van. It works great for me.
I'll be honest Paul, I have no plans to do a camper van conversion. But I have found this little series you've done most enjoyable to watch. Look forward to seeing more of the completed camper van on tour!
I’m loving this series so far. Thank you for showing the little mistakes and the bits you need to redo instead of pretending like everything is easy and perfect on the first attempt. And I think it’s great that you’re doing it with what you’ve got instead of a whole workshop and thousands of dollars of tools... it makes it seem so much more realistic and possible for someone like me. Cheers from California!
Uz are doing a great job! Well done! I am pleased u got a expert in for the the windows as that was my concern! Keep up the great work ur doing. Mark Shaw.
Brilliant series that i am really enjoying, the trouble is i wan't to see some more and iv'e even watched some twice : ) Looking forward to the next installment and i bet Wickes are too ; )
What a great job, for a couple of people who haven’t done anything like this before, your doing marvellous, mate. You both will really enjoy the diesel heater when out and about.
Quick one Paul-I am a joiner by trade, so a quick tip-when using a handsaw if you look at the grip, it has an ambidextrous recess for your index finger to point, as the rest of your fingers grab the handle! It allows far much control over the usage of the saw bud-you can thank me later when you try😃 Keep up the good work👍🏼
Also Paul, although the framework may seem solid and sound now bud, it really would benefit from gluing at every joint with some PVA glue bud-using screws alone may feel sturdy initially Paul, within six months, the whole structure will collapse bud causing a major headache. PVA will allow the structure to have more strength at the joint, than the actual timber you are joining bud👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@PaulMessner You are welcome Paul, screws alone will provide a good mechanical fix, but for longevity PVA glue will make the structure as robust as metal bud-it’s easily sorted Paul but I insist you do it!!! Take care👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The tongue and groove work you are undertaking will be fine, but anything that is load bearing or may be taking any form of stress, then PVA is your friend Paul, the bond has more strength than the timber itself! Good luck, you are doing a great job👍🏼👍🏼
Not considered a loo and shower Paul? Really doesn't need to take up loads of room, gives you the full package and means you can - where permitted - get a bit closer to nature than a commercial camping site. 👍
hi paul, just a tip when cutting timber, dont force the saw let it glide smoothly across, it wont jam up. also try using a thicker wider bit of timber as your bench, if you have one ok. cladding looks pretty good.
Really enjoying this series of vids. It appeals as I feel like I’m treat like an equal, not a diy genius. Therefore I’m encouraged to have a go , cheers to both of you.
Hi Paul, pick up a pocket hole jig & screws, much easier, I use KREG but quite a few others ,AMAZON etc I thought your hiking series is great, you've upped your viewing audiance, great watch. Les

I agree with Jo and appreciate the chaff!
This!
Joe's right don't cut the chaff
Your doing brill
Yeah, the chaff is funny, keep it in. 👍🤣
I have to say your wife is right - a wee bit of chaff to accompany the otherwise slick production gives it a very watchable quality!

Keep the Chaff in Paul!
Just a tip, learn to extend your index finger on your cutting hand while sawing it helps to control the saw better👈👉
I can confirm that the chaff is definitely appreciated!
Shes not wrong Paul we love the chaff.
Jo’s always got a brew on ☕️

I like the chaff too.
I’m really enjoying this series! Can’t wait to see the finished project. 🚙 🚙 🚙
PS I like the chaff!
G.I. Joe with the Kung Fu grip = Trading Places. good job on the seating/storage frames.
I think I appreciate the "chaff"!!
I Agree with Jo, love hearing the chatter. Great build and maybe a project I might have the confidence to undertake after watching your conversion.
Paul your content is getting much better every episode (It was good anyway) 10/10
Seeing how Mrs Messner gives you a bit of a verbal jab now and then, such fun. The chaff keeps it real. The van is starting to look amazing, can't wait for the next video.
I love the way Jo quietly and tactfully keeps you grounded. I have a Jo too.... Your van conversion looks amazing!
I’m looking forward to seeing the end result and your adventures. Probably with Paul outside in his favourite tent of the week and Mrs Messner comfortably wrapped up inside with a brew!

I already wanted to do this, now I know I can. Even the electrics!
a nice bit of chaff at the end. and liked too. thanks for sharing your project. I am having a good time watching things develop.
Sorry Paul but I'm with Jo on the Chaff front. Van is coming along nicely, won't be long until you will be out on your first overnighter at this rate. Thanks for posting.
I really like seeing one's partner partake in projects like this, often times us guys will do everything ourselves but teamwork builds stronger bonds.
Great job, may be worth adding PVA glue when jointing strengthen the joints and cut down creaking later,
Good to see people giving tips rather than telling you how you should have done it. Not interested in converting a van myself but looking forward to the final product and the adventures where it may take you. 👍👍
Joe is always correct , easier to go with the flow 😉👍
The chaff keeps it real it was just the same when we built our van grt fun
Yeah, keep the banter 👍 nice series 👏
Ye keep it all in warts an all lol it’s looking great now your both doing such a swell job it’s as if you’ve done a million vans before 🙏 till the next one 👊🚚👊
You're certainly cracking on with the van. Love the chaff, more chaff please. 😊
Love the chaff, guys!!

Didn't expect to like this van series, as a non driver.. but I've enjoyed it a lot as I do like DIY stuff. Wish they were a little longer mind.
These are great to watch and the chat is good
Leave the chaff in Paul lol your making this look really easy btw 👍
Come on get on with it.......lol. I can't wait to see the finished van. Brilliant effort both of you.
I must admit l am rivitted 😜 to this van conversion. Can't wait for the next installment.
It is really looking great.
Looking good Paul. Van too!
longer vids please :) i could watch all day lol
Your van looks great but it's all more work than I would ever want to do. I have a no-build build in my minivan and "debuilt" it the other day in 20 minutes to return it to an empty back van.
It works great for me.
Looks great. Truth be told we tune for Jo and her wisdom and the chaff.
Excellent stuff guys, coming along nicely and I’m here definitely for the chaff......🚐🙌🏻😂
I'll be honest Paul, I have no plans to do a camper van conversion. But I have found this little series you've done most enjoyable to watch. Look forward to seeing more of the completed camper van on tour!
Great build , good effort .....keep the chaff !!!

I've been in absolute awe watching this. Congratulations. Seriously impressive work.
Loving the chaff - looking forward to seeing the desiel heater - can't make my mind up about that given the hole you need to put in the floor.
What a great job, for a couple of people who haven’t done anything like this before, your doing marvellous, mate. You both will really enjoy the diesel heater when out and about.

I think before I panel everything I’ll loosen the joints and Bob some wood glue in. Thanks for this.

Great video Paul, you explain everything really well. It’s good to see your wife getting involved. Your a good team .
Another informative and intuitive video, keep them coming Paul. By the way, the chaff/banter works brilliantly, keep it in!!
It's looking awesome buddy.
Not considered a loo and shower Paul? Really doesn't need to take up loads of room, gives you the full package and means you can - where permitted - get a bit closer to nature than a commercial camping site. 👍
Love the van video series. 👍
hi paul, just a tip when cutting timber, dont force the saw let it glide smoothly across, it wont jam up. also try using a thicker wider bit of timber as your bench, if you have one ok. cladding looks pretty good.
You two are having fun with it and thats the most important thing. Coming along nicely too.
I am enjoying this greatly. This is going to add a whole new chapter 2 your adventures
A cheap mitre saw would've served you really well. Great work though and detail.
We like the chaff
Looking so good now Paul. Really enjoying this series
Really enjoying this series of vids. It appeals as I feel like I’m treat like an equal, not a diy genius. Therefore I’m encouraged to have a go , cheers to both of you.

Van is coming on great 👍🏻
quality chaff!. Hope you get a wild camp in this week Paul
#Appreciatethechaff should get that on a t shirt!
Coming along great Paul.
You should try a pull saw (Dozuki or similar)
Thanks for another great video Mr and Mrs DIY.
G.I joe with the Kung foo grip , trading places , Eddie Murphy . Classic !
Best quote in the film.. also , have a look at how much an original GI Joe: Kung foo grip figurine is on EBay.. 500 bucks..
You must be well proud Paul. Great stuff.
Really enjoying this series. Well done, guys!!
Making it look so easy
More great progress guys 👍👍
Enjoying this build series. Entertaining and informative. Thanks for uploading all your vlogs.
Hi Paul,
pick up a pocket hole jig & screws, much easier, I use KREG but quite a few others ,AMAZON etc
I thought your hiking series is great, you've upped your viewing audiance, great watch.
Les
I've recently brought the Renault Master MWB and had a plan but your videos have made me scrap it and do similar to yourselves.
