Wondering the same. Looked all over the place for the kitchen video. Wanted to see the final product furnished. I was also waiting to see if you were going to make a box to conceal the tubes of the a/c in the living room. We installed the ductless. Love the cooling but hate the monstrous units. You have been a stickler on everything I am thinking you wood as you have done in the kitchen. You have done a beautiful job with your tiny home. Selection of the finishes amazing & those stairs!! Not a fan of your bedspread, lol!! My father was a woodworker and like you a perfectionist. It really shows Drew.
Closest equivalent I can think of is Primitive Technology...but modern and with narration. So far from a perfect comparison, but still hits that similar vibe regardless!
Not a substitute, but I would highly recommend "my mechanics" if you like Drew's attention to detail. He does the best restorations I have ever seen, and they have a similar "scratch an itch" quality to them.
Drew, my husband and I built the home where we raised our kids. I was pregnant with our fourth at the time, and we worked so hard on that build but had never had so much fun! I designed everything down to the last detail on our computer, and my husband figured out how to take those plans and make it all happen with my assistance. He drove off to work every morning, and we put our heads and hands together every afternoon, evening and weekend to get the house built. Like you, we had no prior experience and learned as we went. BUT…although we were super proud of our work, your craftsmanship is gorgeous! You were born to do this.😊
i think you have an amazing gift sir. through the entire stair build i was asking myself, “why is he using black? why leave such a big space between the wood for epoxy? why such a big slab?”. but when i saw the end product it all made perfect sense. like a great ending to a book, i didn’t see it. not sure how you can see it before it gets built: but i think you are truly gifted. you make art.
I did the same thing. Why is he putting that there? Metal? Black? Treads, silly me I thought he was actually building a table…of course there was that part about the couple extra pieces which I couldn’t figure out. And then he said treads and started cutting up the table! Oh, he really did mean treads. (I thought I was gonna carpeted stairs.) LOL…
That’s the beauty of craftsman homes. I hope the ones that are still existing, stay standing. Sadly as time goes on people seem to tear down good architecture and build concrete boxes. ‘Oh but they’re… ‘modern’, ‘contemporary’, ‘this century’, they were designed by ____.’ They are just cold boxes made out of concrete…and they’re soulless. So sad. I’ve seen 3-4$M Craftsman homes in LA County demolished to literally build concrete boxes. It’s heartbreaking to me.
If you get blinds, you should get remote-controlled ones. They are really nice, and you can open and close them at the same time, which is really helpful!
You know that's the route Drew is gonna go for privacy. He's a techno "Genious"! Nothing manual bout Drew other than "countless manual labor hours" BUILDING STUFF!
There are blinds that can be installed inside to block sunlight. I personally prefer roller shades that are mounted above the window outside. Blocking the sun from the outside is much more effective - so much so that we don't have air-conditioning (together with really well insulated beton walls). Both options can have an electronic motor - and could theoretically be controlled by a single control panel or an app. Though I doubt that's practical in real life. I think you could also have sensors - that will make it drop down if the sun is too intense. In practice a single switch directly next to it is sufficient - you can adjust how much light you still want/need for plants.
The few times I have crafted something, there is such a sense of pride and excitement when it comes together how it was in your head. When you sat on the couch, I could see it come through. I makes you want to yell “YES!” And jump up and down. I can only imagine the feeling this project has given you.
I wouldn't have the mattress directly on the floor, grab a couple 2x2 or 3x3 wooden beams and creat a breathable platform to prevent damp mould and mildew, but keep up the great work looks amazing 🤩
Yes, he needs something that will provide a bit of airflow below the mattress. The floor is not completely closed below - but the openings are too small - and with the carpet above it is essentially draftproof. Otherwise you could flip the mattress often (every week) - which is impossible in this loft (or at least really troublesome).
38:23 Indeed it does. Dude that wood becoming brighter towards the epoxy looks absolutely amazing. I would have never guessed it would turn out that way before you coated it.
I'm in love with your "Eclipse" stairway. The black epoxy against that live-edge is just... chef's kiss. The transition of color in the wood as it lightens up closer to the edge, then a hard transition to the black of the epoxy reminds me of the solar corona during an eclipse and it's absolutely stunning.
The detail, design, quality, aesthetic and creativity of the staircase is stunning. Enjoy the holiday. Looking forward to the kitchen build. Just subbed.
I dont know what it is, if its the smooth voice, perfect fitting music or the perfect tempo of doing stuff, probably the combination of all, plus extra. But i don't think i'm watching other channels with this much happiness, interest and enthusiasm. Love the video's and please keep making these stuff. Thanks❤❤
Your craftsmanship is absolutely amazing!! My Dad was a custom home builder all my life as was his father. He did the plans as well as would make cabinets in our homes and some homes he built. He was well known for his work and still is today. He has been gone 5 years at 88. Your tiny home is gorgeous!! Can't wait for the kitchen!😍
Funny thing is I just installed an almost identical 12,000BTU Senville mini-split (Leto vs. Aura) and it came with rubber mounting pads in the box. I assume his did also, not sure why he didn't use them.
I'm a car guy through and through. This channel came to me randomly a few years ago and it's one of my favorites for sure. Excellent projects and editing. Well done Drew
That looks incredible. I have often thought that once my kids are out of the house, that down sizing to something like this would be perfect, as long as it looks as amazing as your place does.
Pull the couch about an inch away from the wall. It will not only damage your wall but, also your couch. The fabric will wear where it rubs on the wall. Your home is gorgeous!! Your stairs are really beautiful! Can’t wait for the kitchen!!
Man I’ve got to say, whenever I see a new video from you pop up I cannot wait to sit down and watch the whole thing. I think it’s really special that in this day and age you can make me watch a 50 min TH-cam video, I don’t know a lot of creators out there that can do that. The combination of your craftmanship and filmmaking is just so special. Thank you, I absolutely love watching these and appreciate all the hard work you put into them ❤
Your tiny house is simply beautiful. I love how the aluminum angle and flat bar cleans up the corners so cleanly and still be thin. I dream of a place like that, once the kids move out in 15 years.
Even though it was your first time installing a minisplit, this was one of the best videos that covers installing one. I installed one with a couple buddies a few weeks ago, and finding good guides was tricky.
I absolutely love the orange terracotta color! I am enjoying every moment of your hard work and I cannot wait to see it all transform to your beautiful home! Ahhh so exciting. You’re an inspiration!!
You don't need to buy an expensive house you can't afford, you need to buy a junker. With your crazy talent you'll have years' worth of videos fixing it up and customizing it.

I almost thought we'd get another video without a caulk joke, good to see you still care about tradition.

Your tiny house build should be featured on the Living Big in a Tiny House youtube channel. This is just top notch.
Perfect timing for a chill evening watch!
Creator, musician, wood and steel worker, and a great editor... an example for Canadian ingenuity.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen detail work like this on a house, tiny or not. Incredible.

You can also get a mat that goes under it. I believe it is made of bamboo. They use them in vans and buses.

I was going to comment on that.
I don’t know if it being on the carpet is different than on solid surface, but I would check.
they make platform beds out of wood and mattress sits directly on top of it....whats the difference?
that would take too much of his head space. there are mats you can buy specifically made for this and they are quite thin, less than an inch i think.
