It may be weird but somehow I don't feel as comfortable with my mind when i play other towns than ramp lol. The music and nature motive really gets me and helps me to relax and focus. It's just soothing on soul.
Is it just me or every castle brings different emotions like inferno/necro are uneasy- stressing, stronghold/tower literally might and magic, mystery and adventure etc ?
Anyway somehow I'm always having the best games playing rampart. Personally it's my favorite castle by a lot.
I played it almost exclusively as a child- like 15 years ago- and upgrading elves for early dominance was my secret strategy then. My friends didn't want to play with me if I picked ramp 🤣
Lucky charm, cuz i still get easy breaks and good tempo maps on this town =)

I Agree on everything. It is listed among the top 3 for sure on my world. Yet I didnt enjoy playing rampart for just one simple reason. I dont want any of these creatures to die, so it kinda makes me uncomfortable seeing them disappear on the battlefield. When any of my pegasus, unicorns or elves died I felt like I got to reload 😀Therefore it is not a viable option for me.

Same here lol. It's often a struggle to get the game rolling but views and sounds (and elves pew pew if you get a nice stack) are enough to make me main it lol. But I'm generally weird like that, my top 3 favourite towns are rampart, fortress and stronghold kek

Yeah that's why I play Rampart. My friends don't understand why I insist on literally only playing Rampart and nothing else, but I started playing when I was 9 and it was my favorite town back then. I have strong emotional ties to it because of that, and also the aesthetics and music. Rampart forever!

Rampart heroes are hybrids of humans and pure-blooded Vori Elves (more specifically, these hybrids are what people call "elves" in H3, when actual elves were never shown), humans and dwarves. Just wanted to leave this fun fact here. The video's been spot-on about the other aspects of Rampart (as usual heh).

Depends. Avlee elves are just Elves who departed from vori-elves (ice elves)cca 200-350 year after silence. Vori-elves call them renegades. Gelu is half vori-half avlee. Even pure human can be rampart hero (gem).

Rampart is GREAT for Heroes 3 games that go beyond day 8. It is your BANK! In 4 days you can build the Treasury and week after week (see below) rake in the gold to fund whatever you fancy!!
In Heroes of Might and Magic III, games can last for MONTHS (game time, in most cases!!).

  • @wowathena

i always think about how to get the most out of creatures and their abilities and try to form some good army combos with groups that work so well together. For example having elf archers in one group makes them hit harder, but its not good if u too much overkill on one unit and waste potential dmg u could split over to another unit. Or if u get bless spell its easier to manage only one stack of archers to boost entire stack but it also can leave them vulnerable to being blinded. Also single stack of archers is easier to bunker and protect, which leaves more spot free in rest of army to try another trick with other units that come with them. Splitting archers may be good if u dont have bless but ur morale is good. More stacks archers split into, more chances one of those stacks with fire off morale and net you with more total dmg.
Or for example centaurs are good for sacrificial uses, when u send one behind enemy lines to draw them back to other side of battleground or absorbing retaliatory strikes. 2 or 3 single stack of centaurs can give u good amount of free attacks without of retaliation which saves lives but tricky part is to leave some space for them in army to play with that tactic.
I kinda like to split army on ranger and druid. Ranger will have split stack of archers in corners, with split stack of dendroids or dwarfs in front of them and split stack of unicorns to cover sides and complete two bunkers. This way ur archers gain benefit of morale and dwarfs and unicorns are sandwiched together to boost up their magic resistance multiplier. Druid hero can take leftovers like centaurs, pegasi or whatever is left and play tactically with them. Pegasi are super good in harpy style attack tactics when u have few of them one-stack and have them tag some though target while main stack of pegasi waits, then at end of round main stack can fly in, hit hard target without retaliation and on start of next turn u can run back away to safety. rinse and repeat, and since these tactics take time to wear enemy down, druid are natural counterpart to drop spells to help out and mess enemies up.

It's my favourite town. Ok, others are good too, but I like the treasury and how you get 10% extra gold each week from whatever is in your bank. If you are patient with spending, you can dominate and never run out of $. Also, the speed of units are amazing so you get to travel further on the map (dwarves may slow you down). So many spells compared to fortress and Castle. Heroes also like to learn luck which helps you double your hit points. Plus I love the music and scenery too lol.

For Rampart, I pretty much like having tactics and expert water magic + prayer (although it is quite hard to get that spell in Rampart). It has pretty strong low tier units, so they benefit a lot from the extra speed/attack/defense bonus.

My cousin was a great rampart player, ot was his favourite town so i saw him play them very often. It is a strong town overall, and has solid start with almost every case. In long games elves are really vulnerable so you need resistance. In smaller maps its viable option for sure.

  • @zimmicks3170
    @zimmicks3170 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

You forgot to mention the fact that Gold Dragons cannot be Resurrected (immune to 1-4). With a Hero like Elleshar for example, this would make Green Dragons far more powerful than Golds. All they have to do is survive the first attack. Very specific scenario yes, but still.
Rampart is my favorite faction for both the aesthetics (the most traditionally Fantasty-based faction in the game) and the usefulness of each individual unit.

  • @TheJoshtheboss
    @TheJoshtheboss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I don't know man....Rampart is quite overpowered actually. Fair points. But forgot to mention Treasury which is overpowered af. And you can also accumulate treasuries allowing you to have enough money to buy out all creatures in multiple castles creating colossal armies.
Pegasi are actually amazing L5 units. Though I am not too crazy about unicorns.
Rampart is a great town. Especially on large maps when investing in the long haul (finance pays off).

mephala or that hero i forgot name who has magic resistance specialty but more likely magic resistant here is my pick. i understand rampart as counter magic nation. which can cast spells but most likely they will repel them. use of wards is good for them to weaken attack spells, buffs and magic mirror against opponent who is designed to cast a lot of attack spells rather then cast buff spells to support his/her weaker army.

    I'm a Tower player.
"rampart" is extremely strong for small maps.
But once I ate a very serious rampart fight from a rampart player on a small map in a game channel called GameRanger. Just Centaurs and Grant Elves are enough to hit, and I was even with Nagas and on my way to take out Giants. But Grand-Elf combined with Centaur very deadly especially in large numbers and this was early game.
It's just that Tower is harder on small maps, and in the early stages of the game, it was month 1- 3 weeks. Tower it's harder to evolve so fast.

  • @donjezza10

I find Rampart and Dungeon quite interesting to compare because each has the opposite problems of the other. While the dragons in rampart aren't great compared to the other unites, Dungeons relies on its dragons too much which can lead to problems as well. Between them, it becomes a contest of whether the combined units of rampart can overcome the Black Dragons and take them down before losing too many other units, because the rest of the dungeon would probably be a sweep afterwards.

Idk man, comparing Dungeon wich haves the strongest early stack in the game (40 Trogs x 4/5) seems a bit too much. I'd put Centaur stack over Pixies since you don't bleed them the second you face Morale/Ranged/Guywithmagicarrow, over Pukeman due to speed of course, over Goblins since you WILL bleed them hard and one morale and it's over, and above Gnolls. Gnolls can be better in some scenarios due to specialist (x3 stacks, + 1 speed) but normally I won't risk being outspeed with such HP so it's Centaurs to me.
The ones doing a better stack early are Skeletons, Trogs but they're harder to use and easy to bleed, and Gremlins in a lot of scenarios but not always. Normally I see the Centaur stack as solid and durable, wich Trogs and Gremlins lack.

I personally like conflux the best, because of Luna, I think it's very fun to play with her as she can do some crazy stuff with her firewall. If we take Luna out of the equation - I would go with Dungeon as it's probably the most well rounded, has good heroes, good buildings like the portal and mana vortex, and is versatile and can go for pretty much any objectives, whereas other towns are more limited - like fortress likes hives but not so much pickets or consas unless they are near the road because of the swamp terrain.

What the fuck. The best town (Conflux is only better in experienced player's hands cuz balance is better but still crap on Hota). Every unit REALLY has it's own role here: even the slowest ones like Dwarfs and Dendroids are perfect town defenders. Also Earth Magic for Kyrre and few other is pretty common so wtf. This town has the easiest start. Just get starting 40+ Centaurs and get 10+ Grand Elves (the basic ones are good enough if you are short on wood during first days) and this allows you to roll and clear the shit out for the first weeks without loosing any unit (if you know what are doing and you can tease AI enemies with centaurs around the battlefield). Some of my friends also say that "they hate this town" and always get reckt by me to the point they don't want to play with me anymore. xD

Nah, necro and dungeon are definitely better than ramp, I think most people would agree with that. I also think conflux, fortress, and castle are better, but more people would probably argue with those.

@@alex_the_magician9483 Other than very specific creature bank early strats on the overplayed Jebus Templates Dungeon is without a doubt the worst faction in the game XD.
The saving grace are good Heroes and starting army (40 trogs per stack) other than that and Portal/Dragons, which you might struggle to get, they're a whole turd of a faction. They're simply amazing, in the worst way. Of course in Jebus context with Shatki they rock.
I love Fortress and I do consider them good and easy to play, but they're no Rampart. The Gnoll specialist is very good in native terrain picking banks (again Jebus centric pov) but other than that I wish they were as good. Rampart is simply too many cheap HPs with speed and damage. They're kinda broken.
Castle is better due to Angels, stronger, easier to rush, and Cons. Other than that only Champions are probably better than Unicorns (but expenssive) otherwise it's a stomp. But yeah normally Castle will go for Angels and win.
Necro is better of course, we all know.

@@alex_the_magician9483 If you stop considering clearing Jebus banks with stacks of over 200 Trogs you'll easily see how it's absolutely the case. Average HP and damage produced per week is the lowest in the game with crappy building order and a price only behind Tower, they have nothing for them.
Again, if you imagine yourself doing something other than clearing banks with Shatki you'll understand how they're literally trash tier.

@@Eggmith You sound like an anti jebus elitist bent on imposing your opinion on others.
I totally disagree with you regarding dungeon. It has a lot of things going for it. Most of their units are not amazing in terms of raw battle power I'll give you that.... but you have really good heroes (overlords in general get good skills, jedditte and alamar are awesome, gunnar is cool, deemer is allright too), mana vortex and portal of summoning are amazing, black dragons if you can get them are really good, also considering you can roll armageddon in mg4, you can utilize that in combination.
While I can't attest as to how good or bad they are on other templates, you're literally the first person I've ever heard trash talking dungeon so much (and I do know people who mostly play templates other than JC).
