Please, do make more architecture videos, particularly on more contemporary architects and movements! I use your videos often in my classes, because they are so informative, but there's a general lack of videos that sum up in simple and concise terms the design principles of contemporary architecture. You'd definitely contribute to fill this void! Thanks, Muse, I really love your work!
@Son Of Rabat It’s because we’ve adapted to the kind of architecture that is already existed, its efficiency and productivity. What makes her career far beyond others’ is that back in her time, no one is that capable and she was the pioneer in making her design timeless.
Hi Priscilla, I Agree. Sometimes in Many Countries esp in 3rd World practicing the profession will be limited to Budgetary Constraint😞 But Love Your Feedback of how you use this great video as a tool to sum up and inspires your students BIG CHEERS🍸🍸🍸❤️👍🙏
@@Nasser-x6i She is Iraqi, and nothing is going to change that. Also, why do you try to put down your Arab brothers? We are one people and our glories are shared.

I've watched various of Zaha's mini-biography videos, but no one seemed to blatantly show the major influences for her design, including her role model. I just knew from here that the shape of calligraphy appeared on her mental image and influenced her works. Thanks, Muse! Thumbs up for including an expert to complete and validate the content that you've compiled. @@CuriousMuse I am definitely also for the simpler style. The social media elements irritated me quite a bit and seemed a bit tacky, if I'm honest. But other than that it's a very well-done video report, thank you so much!
I remember her from way back. She won a competition at the Architectural Association with a building that looked unbuildable. After that she spent years being known as a designer of unbuildable buildings until she finally managed to design something that could be built, probably with help from very good engineers.
For some reason I remember well the drawing of that building with which she won the competition and this is a long time ago, before CAD, drawn by hand.
H. Aliyev center in Baku, Azerbaijan is one of the most ambitious projects of hers, also shown in this video several times but the name wasn't mentioned.
@@CuriousMuse hello. why did you not mention the name of the building? it is not good seeing all names of other buildings but not Heydar Aliyev's center.
I was expecting mentioning her work in Morocco. She managed to create beauty in the making of the national theater of Rabat. Such an amazing thing to see. My god rest her soul.
Zaha's architecture inspires in a way that is hard to describe. OK, it's just a building, but it's a building that makes you imagine. I'm technical and work with code, and for me, there is beauty in simplicity and effectiveness, but I'd rather see an interesting building on my way to work than another dull concrete creation.
As an engineer/designer/architect you are taught to optimize the use of materials, cost and space and provide solution with least waste. Given these constraints most people work in, it is hard to design grandiose structure if not backed by wealthy firms or connections. Being creative is a part of the answer but having connections is what can realise those ideas to reality. That break and that capital is hard to find. That dosen't take away from her sucess but an acknowledgement of material conditions is also warrented.
The Salerno Port terminal is one of my favourites as well as Capital Hill Residence (from all angles except the ‘front’) but the Heydar Aliyev is the pinnacle of her work 👌
With wealth came uncompromising independence that most other architects struggle and very few can do Follies, blow them up the scale to squeeze functional spaces in-between. I knew Zaha as a person and she was vulnerable, lonely and even shy but defensive for her love of her art. We were invited once to go sailing on a friend’s sailboat . Suddenly I realized that the day trip would strain her bladder as the heads were too small for her larger than life size. I was so relieved, no pun, that she declined .
Brilliant video about Zaha Hadid’s remarkable work and style so rich and creative while exalting the subtle curves and arabesque lines of Islamic architecture. As a Norwegian, I find it extraordinary to see the world’s most distinct Woman Architect is an Arab woman who comes from a part of the world known as the Cradle of Civilization. After all, the Western world ( the Greeks and Romans) took our knowledge from Mesopotamia, ancient Egypt and the Phoenicians. But we hardly ever acknowledge it because we are so self-centered.
