A treat to hear Joscho play lead/rhythm style. Unless they're inspired, not just demonstrating knowledge and skill, single-note lines are often boring, whereas moving positions fluidly up and down the neck, hammering on and off, throwing in ninths and thirteenths, delights my jaded ear. The best solo players are always, in my listening experience, exciting rhythm players, whethe ror not they took "chord solos." More of this, please, Joscho.
That was great. Like to hear yo play caravan the song in the chocolate movie. My first real awareness of gypsy jazz was this movie. Been trying to learn and listen ever since.

how does he looked pissed? I've seen him live and he likes it when somebody else plays solo. They play 90 minutes gigs and it is helping him out a lot when others solo, too. hater...
He's nowhere pissed. He is enjoying himself and after the bass solo plays a very neat RHYTHM GUITAR (100% without trying to put in a few licks) and watches out for the chages to do an equally good job as the other guitarist. In fact in this video he acts like a very good fellow band member.
Joscho Stephan is undoubtedly the undisputed King of Gypsy Jazz Guitar! Long alive the King!

You got it all wrong, he's not ego maniac, you can find plenty of videos of him playing with other masters of guitar.
