I love how the folks in the background giggle and chat at the beginning, but as the gentlemen continue the jam - everyone shuts up and follows every song.
I wish they'd shut the heck up right from the beginning. How any of them think what they have to talk about is more impressive than these guitarists' talents is beyond me. They don't even have the good manners to applaud! 🙄
Michael Fix is widely acclaimed as one of the world's finest acoustic guitarists. He has won three Golden Guitars and numerous other awards in Australia, and tours widely throughout the world, particularly Asia, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, and elsewhere in Europe. Australian born Golden Guitar award winner Stuart 'Stuie' French is a master of the country/jazz guitar-style (Les Paul invited him up to play when he was in New York!) and many of his guitar heroes are the great Americans: Django Reinhardt, Chet Atkins, Roy Nichols and Danny Gatton. William Thomas Emmanuel AM is an Australian guitarist, songwriter and singer who is known for his complex fingerstyle technique, energetic performances and the use of percussive effects on the guitar. Richard Smith is an English guitarist specialising in the fingerstyle guitar tradition of Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, and Jerry Reed. He is the 2001 National Fingerstyle Guitar Champion.
The Tommy/Richard love affair kept those guys down. This was great to listen to, and tough to watch. This was meant to be one to be an Emmanuel/Smith lovefest and some guys looking to use the place as a career platform smartly jumped in.
Love it how Tommy Emmanuel is organising the solo sections with a little head nod. Fix and French are waiting on the nod from the master to show what they can do! Classic jam and they all wait their turn!
I was about to head to bed after a tiring day. Now I'm footstomping, whiskey in hand ready for anything. That's the power of music from these amazing guys. What a wonderful moment to have captured for posterity. Pure bliss! ❤
Django, Les Paul and Chet will be smiling warmly! Beautiful to see the enjoyment and respect that these guy’s have for each other, thanks for putting this together!🇦🇺🎶🎵
I've been playing for 64 years, and this is the best jam session, including the younger, less experienced players, I've witnessed in that time. If you don't include the younger players, how are they to learn to be confident and learn to "have a go" and be exposed to really good players, so to improve their abilities.. Great video.
is funny how the best perfomances are in this kind of contexts where nobody seems to listen or to enjor, except for the musicians.. thanks for the share akira!!! beautiful moments of pure music and musicians :)
5:38 ~ How they change the roles is just unbelievable. I bet 99% of the listeners (and viewers as well) do not even recognize that both guitarists change between improvisation and accompaniment and back again. So great! Two absolute masters.
Super pros. Elite. Most "jams" are disorganized messes ... not with these guys. They know the tunes, they know each other and they're all generous and fans for and with one another. Richard Smith is out of this world. Musical encyclopedia who adds his panache to every tribute tune he plays. Love Tommy, but Richard is right there.
Listening to Richard Smith, I'd swear there's a banjo in the room. Loved the jam. Not too many words, the language was music. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
how fun! It should be prerequisite for all our politicians to be able to do this to run for office! LIstening to one another in a positive way. What great people. Thanks for posting this.
This is supreme. I hate it when 3+ rock guitarists gets on stage and stare blankly at each other as to what they should play. This is the total opposite. Genius.
You can see the flow of energies, how effortlessly they're all communicating with each other through their instruments. A beautiful conversation! This is pure art, straight from the heart!
This is album stuff, they need to get into a studio and record a few albums of this, all ad-hoc and unplanned, it`s the best. It is pure gold, love these guys and their talent is unsurpassed, far better than all this modern rubbish.
HOO LEE FUQ!!! Be STILL my poor heart... GAWD!!! I feel like I watched "Gran Turismo" - goosebumps... racing heart... and FUCK YEAHS on those ending chords!! THAT KIND of "mind synch" live play is like watching Alchemists dance with a DRAGON!! My FAVORITE VIDEO of 2023!!! also... I just found 3 MORE... 3 more MASTERS of THIS kind of guitar playing... just... WOW!!
This is fabulous, I don’t play the guitar but so enjoy watching great playing & this didn’t disappoint. Tommy always has a smile on his face. Thanks for posting & I have enjoyed reading all your comments & learning about these guys. To the thumbs down people - goes to show your taste is in your a*#es. How could you not watch this & enjoy it. I’m like Tommy - smile on my face, toe tapping & finger snapping - love it ❤️
Dear Akira, thank you to have shared this moment with all of us. Just to mention that you have another part where Richard joins Tommy and you while Tommy was explaining something to you. This part seems to me also important to see the level of all these incredible guys ! Thank you again.
Unfortunately non musicians don't get it. But I have seen musicians do the same thing. I guess it's just down to rude people.then they go home and brag to their friends that they saw Richard Smith and Tommy Emmanuel playing a guitar duet. But ask them what songs they played and they won't have fricking clue because that damned thing under their nose was open the whole time.
I couldn’t have said that better myself. Unfortunately there are females who sound like a coloratura chainsaw to the rest of us. If I’d been there I’d have been sitting quietly at the nearest table to these gentlemen.
So, Chet Atkins has had some effect on the Brits and Aussies. Oh, ya think??? Thanks to Akira for putting this masterpiece out there. Chet's gotta be upstairs at his throne in the sky just'a smilin'.

@@rajdeepghadge5392thanks! currently learning windy and warm, seems like a good start for this type of thing :)
You can bet these guys never let a day go by without picking up their guitar.
I love how the folks in the background giggle and chat at the beginning, but as the gentlemen continue the jam - everyone shuts up and follows every song.

I am 34 and this is the best one hour I have ever spent in my whole life wow!

Django Reinhardt was French, not American……

Richard Smith is the best player of the 4
@@tomlyons7891 Get out of here with that, it's a jam between four players who respect each other
Tommy smiling while playing. Obviously enjoying what he does so well.
I'm always surprise and a little shock to ear people behind who dare talking while these brilliant musiciens are playing the most fabulous jam !
I love how someone starts playing a tune and everyone follows. Absolute masters.
Pretty much just need to know the key and off we go....
Love it how Tommy Emmanuel is organising the solo sections with a little head nod. Fix and French are waiting on the nod from the master to show what they can do! Classic jam and they all wait their turn!
Richard is a great guitarist but that starts with a great rhythm player
I was about to head to bed after a tiring day. Now I'm footstomping, whiskey in hand ready for anything. That's the power of music from these amazing guys. What a wonderful moment to have captured for posterity. Pure bliss! ❤
The most striking thing to me is how they so obviously enjoy themselves, that's true love for the music right there!
Richard smith = guitar master of the highest caliber.
Django, Les Paul and Chet will be smiling warmly! Beautiful to see the enjoyment and respect that these guy’s have for each other, thanks for putting this together!🇦🇺🎶🎵

One of the finest displays of being on the "same page" I've ever witnessed! What I wouldn't give for a banjo and violin and another hour of jamming!
fiddle
..... the only thing I can add is that I could have the talent to have been that banjo player :)

How can one just join the jam and immediately all blend in together? What a chemistry!
They can cause of the lot of experience plus a EXTREME knowledge of the guitar fret all spiced up with a huge talent 😊😊

Anyone can tell me the name of that guitar player?
Four of the best guitarists especially of this style, in the world. They've played together a few times hahah

Overjoyed to witness inspired craftsmen who recognize their peers. To be in the moment......
Its incredible too me that in these jams, syncapation suddenly comes with the players or how instruments become sympathetic to each other.
Cheers 😎

There is so much of Django in all of the playing here. He would be proud.
