Sir in my life I have not seen a teacher like u....truly speaking I respect u sir...soon let me become my aim then I will try to meet u once in my life
Sir , I have a little doubt how does exactly microstructure controls the hardness?? Sir it is clear that quenching brings better hardness than annealing due to faster cooling rate, but why faster cooling increases hardness??
Both. It is a phase. And since it has distinct appearance in a microstructure it is also a microconstutuent. Contrast this with pearlie. It is not a phase as it consists of mixture of two phases: ferrite and cementite. But it has a distinct appearance in the microstructure, so it is a microconstutuent.
It is incorrect the explanation because when you use tempering in a microestructure of martensite the heat tempeture shall be for below of A1 in this case, for below of 725°C to generate a microestructure acircular martensite
greetings and respect from Saudi Arabia, thanks to everyone who contributes to making these lessons.

Accha hai.......🤣🤣🤣
Thanku so much sir. Such a clarity on the subject we can get only in NPTEL videos.
Magical lecture
Superb Concept 👍👍👍.
Sir m a great fan of u sir....
Sir,why and how epsilon Fe2.4C is formed in the first stage? from where 2.4 came?
Why are tool steels subjected to multiple tempering?
Very good.. Sir thanks
Beautiful slide
how much we hold for tempring or austenizing ? there is aformula to calculate that time ?

awsmmmm
Sir...1st time in my life i study material science in such type conceptual step...Sir Please... Upload All topics of material science...
it would have been better if tempering was drawn on TTT curvvee
Is Martensite a phase or a micro-constituent ?

phase with BCT structure
Hi sir. What is the lower limit of reheating temperature??
noice
i have finished the video the explanation is correct
Sir... If you have written a book on material science...please reply the name....
Hardness - Martensite > Troosite > Sorbite > Spheriodite
Is it correct that, troosite, sorbite and spheriodite are the types of tempered martensite
The metals grows plastic with temperature. Can we say austenitic steel is much plastic than alpha ferrite?
What you can say that austenite is deformed plastically more easily than ferrite. Austenite is more plastic than ferrite does not sound good.
what cooling media we use, air or water for tempering?
We could get good grain structure in air cooling so I think we use air as a cooling mediam in tempering
Sir, is tempering is nessary where bainite in austempering process...
No, austempered material need not be tempered.
Sir so which wud b best quenching, oil or water? Pliz
Oil
Sir in tempering after holding it in temp below eutectoid temp when we cool it again, whts the rate of this cooling?is it same as quenching?
No, there is no need to quench after tempering. Slow cooling will do.
@@introductiontomaterialsscience thanx a lot sir🙏
@@introductiontomaterialsscience sir we cooled it in open air or inside the furnace
@@shivangsingh5834 We can cool in the open air.
sir tempering ke bare me four Objectives : At the end of this lesson, the trainee shall be able to ex...discribe tha intro..of tempering
kya bna skte h

if i quenched from 820 to 25 degree celsius and then reheated to 700 for 24 hours is it tempered martensite or spherodite
Tempered martensite hi Spheriodite hai
Alag alag temperature ke tempered martensite ko alag alag naam mila hai
Spheriodite is name given to tempered martensite at that temperature.
Thank you sir.
Thank you Prof
