- Jordin Canada. WNBA Champion in 2018 (her rookie year). The 2019 WNBA steals leader. 2019 WNBA All-Defensive First Team. Jordin Canada can do everything you’d want in a point guard. In only her second year, she finished as the league leader in steals, just outside of the top 5 in assists, and led her team in scoring in a single elimination playoff game. For the most part, the Storm swarm their competition with their unrelenting defense, and it’s easy to say that Jordin Canada is the tip of the spear. She’s also the offensive spark plug because of how she attacks in transition and pushes pace.
Coming off the heels of the Seattle season coming to an end against the Sparks, I wanted to celebrate Jordin’s especially spectacular sophomore season. She came through in a big moment in her rookie year in game 2 of the WNBA Finals, and she followed it up by stepping into the starting lineup full-time, filling in for the GREAT Sue Bird. Seattle should be excited about their prospects in the future, because she did everything that she did this season at the age of 24 and they have an MVP in Breanna Stewart and one of THE all-time greats (on and off the court) in Sue joining a Seattle squad that made the second round of the playoffs without either of them for a full season.
