I watch you from France, where we are all locked up at home, thank you for continuing to entertain and teach us. making lots of things it relaxes and you bring lots of solutions and ideas to do that. thank you so much. (and sorry for the mistakes, I don't write very well in English)
i really love these puzzle designs. my favorites have gotta be the vintage styles, the ribbing just looks too slick, especially with the smooth color palette. nice work as always!
I love to see your puzzle designs. Out of these 3 I actually liked the KWOB best - it's so simple and still elegant and interesting to solve. Great job!
He'd use it to explain that while some things happen that are out of our control, doing your best is what matters, and that's an attitude that deserves ice cream.
I had a puzzle like this back in the '80s. It had 5 ring tracks in the parallel position, and was a sphere. Instead of marbles. It was probably 15-16 cm in diameter. The pieces were round on top, but flat on the bottom, with a flange to fit into the track they slid along. Never took it apart to find out how it was put together mechanically, but it felt more like some sort of click/detent thing rather than magnets. Those beads are super for this, but you might look at doing the flanged things because you could 3d print those. Ooh. You could do the pieces flat on top with map images or other pattern, and you'd have to make the whole sphere show the right image.
I think I have the puzzle you are talking about it's called The Orb or Orb-It puzzle. It's a similar concept to the Astrolabicon but I think the Astrolabicon turns much smoother than the Orb puzzle. I would love to own an Astrolabicon because it reminds me of the Astrolabacus. Both the puzzle I have mentioned are vintage and the Astrolabacus is rare. They didn't make many of them and they eventually stopped making making them altogether. This Astrolabicon would satisfy my need to do this type of puzzle. 😁
I meant to specify that the Astrolabacus is the one that is rare and hard to find. I bought my Orb puzzle from Ebay and you may be able to find one on there too.
I'm definately going to print a few of them ! I wanted to print the first one but I didn't end up doing so, but now I've ordered the beads :D I can't wait to print it ! Thanks Devin :)
@@make.anything I second that you should do it. Also, I think you should lend some puzzles out to twisty puzzle TH-camrs like J Perm, JRCuber, or CanChrisSolve because some puzzle-solving people might not see them on a mostly 3D-printing channel. And you should totally collab with Oskar!
Maybe I glanced at Maker's Muse' comment, but was going to say, you are a genius. Just found you lately. I will be incorporating your ideas into future builds for sure. Thank you!

That’s great ! When I was younger I had a kind of similar but commercial and cylindrical puzzle
This is super cool. Thanks for making these awesome puzzles and providing the designs. I just made the KWOB using my Elegoo Mars Resin printer and it came out awesome. I put some pictures in the community section on MyMiniFactory on your Puzzle.
Devin, I am in France and I can only watch you in 480 video format because of EU restrictions. You're a bit blurry but still handsome and a cool designer ❤❤❤ take good care with the curfew in California
You should be very proud of your Astrolabicon 👏This really made my day, I really want to make one, it's just too freekn cool! Keep it up with the puzzle for sure, I love em
You can 3D print the beads if you print hemispheres with holes in the middle. You could then use the holes to attach two halves together with peices of filament and glue
I am getting a 3D printer for my birthday in April. And watching these is draining my patience. I am getting the artillery sidewinder X1 if you are wondering
@@epicyrein7958 I've heard that some people were worried about that as well, with some strain being put on them. The connections seem fine to me, and I haven't had any issues with them so far. I'm not really an electronics expert, so I don't really know if they will be an issue in the future, but it doesn't look to be a problem now
As a physiotherapist, these might be quite interesting for neuro patiens as fun hand dexterity puzzles. I'll make sure to try it when I get a 3d printer!
There was a story about Emergency Health workers in Italy 3D printing ventilator parts when they couldn't get any. It would be really helpful if you made a video explaining the process from your knowledge of making 3D parts. Say another shortage happens in the world in one country, your video could save lives!
Similar but not exact. This has three rows that turn into one, while the torshn has 2 that go into one. It's a simpler version of this which is actually a simpler version of the orb puzzle. Nothing is original these days.
Hey Devin, I realy want to get one of those, but do you ship to europe or to be more specific Germany? And how noisy are those things my main reason why I want to buy one ist because I have ADHD ans Always need something I can play around with asspecoally in school, of they are realy noisy is there any way to make them more quiet? Thanks, Tim.
I'll be doing a lot of 3d printing during the quarantine. Could you make a video on designing tips and efficiency in design? I'd really appreciate it if you did. Thanks again for such a good video!
Hey make anything do you remember the double pendulus you have/had I was watching the one hour video and I noticed it never touched the middle I was wondering if you could try making it go in the middle
do you mean horizontal or vertical circles? the layer lines can sometimes make vertical circles look warped, i've had that too with my ender 3 pro but i checked and it was a perfect circle, so if its a vertical circle check if its actually an oval (if its horizontally warped find a video on youtube on how to calibrate a printer.
You probably want to adjust your steps-per-unit on one or more of your axes. I recommend printing something of known dimension (even just a cube) and measuring how far off it is from expected in the X, Y, and Z directions, and adjusting your steps-per-unit of each accordingly. I don't have an Ender 3 Pro so I can't give you the exact process for updating the values, but I'm sure some other Ender 3 owners and/or Google can help!
You should have channels of the puzzles have a snappy gate where the channels disjoin, that gate should only let marbles go through bot not stay, that would in my opinion help with twisting.
I have my Elegoo Saturn on the way (seems kinda lost in the post right now though, which is sad..) and I can't wait to print these puzzles! There shouldn't be any issue printing them in resin right? The clips might not be durable enough in resin, but the puzzles themselves should work just fine I would assume.
You're a genius, I can't believe how cheap and gorgeous those beads are I never knew they existed?! 😍
Maker's Muse hey
This was very cool. Thank you for sharing this!
They're pretty perfect, besides limited sources! Hopefully they'll remain in stock :)

You need to turn on auto captioning and see how many interpretations of astrolabicon there are. My favourite is astro lab pecan.
i like “astrolabe ikonn”
I’m buying beads and printing these right now! I’ve had my astrolabicon print waiting for marbles for 2 years.
This is why 3D printing is so fun. You had an idea and you could make it fast. Thank you for making something people can enjoy and share.

Top compliment. Thx!
No he makes the icecream
Your videos are always so calming and a great way to unwind. Some combination of the music, your personality, and the whole aesthetic is just so nice
Brilliant design Devin! I have been embedding magnets in various prints for a couple years now and this is is a GREAT use of that idea. =]
Jeeezzzz.... Thats a lot of work. I'm impressed with your persistance to improve the niggling little issues with the first version. Well done.

Your puzzle designs are superior to that boring mass-produced thing. Much more artistic, and less friction.

Wow! That's a cool puzzle. Thanks for sharing. I need to print and assemble one or more of those. Cheers Devin!
Please send this to Tim from Grand illusions to review, he will love these

Thank you for sharing your passion with us. I'm introducing my maze/puzzle loving 5yo to 3D printing and he LOVES your channel!
Amazing toy :)
You could embed the magnets mid-print, no glue needed!
True! I might have to give it a go
Great job Devin!! I love your video's!

They look SOOO great!!! Really nice puzzles and interesting pieces of designs
You are sooo cool and look up to you sooo much. My favorite project you have done is a springo and I printed it myself. 😀

Hey Make anything!
You know, the Astrolabicon idea was already used.
There's an old vintage puzzle called ORB you should see!

You should do an Astrolabicon+. It would be just like the Astrolabicon, but it would be an octasphericon instead of a hexasphericon.

I prefer this to the Rubik's cube.
It would be so cool to make an astrolabicon with the decasphericon
