Hey friends, finally I get to release my original game Tippi Tree! I'm equally excited to see your entries for the Skin Design competition and I know you want to win a 3D printer, so make sure to send something in by December 6: bit.ly/TippiContest Good luck and stay inspired :D
Dude, from the level of production in this video to the quality of your documentation I can tell how much of a passion project this has been. I absolutely LOVE the concept, I hope someone approaches you!
Right? I was fascinated by the printing, where the head just moves in a circle while the print forms. What there some sort of gcode trick there, where the picture is taken at each layer once you've moved the print head to the right spot in the "circle"? Or was that just some tedious digging through every frame of the video?
@@kennyhubbell813 if I were to guess, I would probably say it is some sort of gcode post-processing trick. Maybe a tutorial covering it coming up in the future?..
@@kennyhubbell813 thanks! The smooth timelapses are a feature in Octoprint Octolapse that automatically trigger my DSLR camera at the right positions 😁
@@make.anything Nice! Is that circular path a default option in Octoprint, or did you need to predetermine the coordinates of the head location for each layer?
Thinking of buying the files and printing it for my sister for christmas. Can you tell me how much filament is used and how long the print time on your machine was?
@@Silberbaer 64 meters of filament (~200g), 17 hours of print with recomended parameter for the trunk+ 3 of each branch (3 small, 3 tall, 3 long) on a prusa i3 mk3s (slic3r setting "0.2mm quality"). currently printing leaves with announced 13 hour for 12 leaf, 48m (147g ) of filament, so 26 hours and 300g total for a recommended set of 24
You should get in touch with a board game company or put this on Kickstarter or something of the like because I feel like this is a great idea and if buy it if it got mass-produced Edit: for people who don't have a 3d printer and can't get one, like me
I came to comments to say this but you already mentioned it. This would destroy as a Kickstarter where an actual product is shipped. Not that the 3D files can't be made available via the Kickstarter.
@@Mikelectric like sell a starter game with the trunk 1 of each branch shown in video and the light green and dark green leaves. 12 of each. Then like season/environmental packs letting you change the season of your tree or make a completely new tree trunk with more branches or a new trunk color/type
• Even without the game aspect, it's pretty cool as just a customizable desktop art sculpture kit. 👍 • Regarding skins, I can imagine an official _Minecraft_ skin or _Star Wars_ or something. You should look into that. 😉
Minecraft and Star Wars would require talking to Mojang/Microsoft and Lucas Arts/Disney respectively. They are unlikely to allow it until it gets bigger, and it won't get bigger unless he either gets a kickstarter to get molds and such himself, or licenses it to a larger manufacturer. Those larger manufacturers often already have rather open-ended licenses for specific franchises, though.
So I bought the files off of MyMiniFactory, ordered some PLA in different colors, printed a tree, a couple of both regular and tall trunks and some branches and finally, two sets of leaves. I gave them to my kids (1 and 3 years old) and they have been playing, stacking and building trees together non-stop ever since. Awesome project, prints like a dream! Thanks a lot for making this! Printed it on an Anet A8 with some modifications (which I managed to tune pretty well, it turns out). No difficulties printing, just smooth pieces coming off of the plate. Just goes to show that you don't even need an expensive printer in order to print it successfully.
1 month past, just found out your gorgeous masterpiece. I sincerely salute your skills to transform ideas to an actual tangible result, always in a very simple yet accessable way. The world "cool" cannot describe my fascination. Keep up your great work. Sincerely from South Korea :)
Could not have come at a better time, my old £90 printer I've been using for 2 years finally broke beyond repair 2 days ago. I'm putting all my effort into this!
Wow. Just wow. The design, the iteration, the general idea of the game and the execution of the product. Getting the perfect tolerance so that it stays, however not too tight that it doesn't topple. And the editing is perfect. The dedication and determination you have blows me away every time. Always going the extra mile for us. Thank you
What an amazing creation this is! I knew right away I would be buying the files to support this. I’ve been printing pieces all day and we’ve already been having so much fun with this. I’ll finally have a full set tomorrow, and I already know I’m going to have to print some extra color choices. Great design, great game, and I hope it brings you much success!

Both the video and the game itself seem so professional! The fact that you're releasing this for free makes you an absolute Saint. Never seen anyone make their own game that looks better than most retail ones
As both a tabletop enthusiast and a 3D printing enthusiast I'll definitely be buying these files! What a cool idea! The fact that you spent so much time developing and iterating the concept and the parts makes it worth it :)
This looks like super fun. Its now printing the test file. Just had to buy this the moment i saw your video. Thank you for creating this and making it available for us for this very low price! Me and my kids will enjoy this for sure.
I bought your files today and just finished printing the tree trunk and branches. I'm really impressed with how easily they fit together, and how smoothly the pieces feel to the touch. I think I'll need some very minimal processing to get it perfect :) I'm going to print the leaves tonight, but I'm so keen to try this game out with my board game group! I'm using transparent PLA to print these so I'll paint the trunk and branches, but I might use different filament colours for leaves in the future. I think I can get away with transparent PLA for some of these leaves and treat it as snow-covered for now!
I can't help myself but say that you are the best and funniest 3D printing channel on youtube. I love your projects and videos and with your newest video, you just killed it.

I'm definitely buying this file. My mini factory wouldn't load my jpeg and it stopped me from making my submission by 12:00. Anyway, I've been watching your videos a lot and I like them. While lots of people show the technical stuff with a 3d printer, you show the fun stuff. Thanks for the 3d printer timelapse how to video.
Fantastic work man, so much creativity with all your different projects. Buying the files now, don't know when ill get around to printing them, but want to show my support.
Hat a awesome project. It's like a Jenga 2.0 in cool. You can count me in for the competition and buying it. Thanks for all the effort. It's a wonderfull thing and opens a lot of possibilities for modding.
You put so much time and effort into your projects and video editing its really a masterpiece. I wanted to do all that, but I become concerned with isolation and depression for myself I kind of felt like this path would in a way be isolating so I let it go. Nobody knows how much work goes into making a video like this not to mention the game and 3d printing itself. Insane!
Honestly, this game is pretty neat. If I saw it in a store, I would probably buy it. Unfortunately, I don't have a 3D printer, I just get recommended these videos because of some engineering videos I like to watch, who use 3D printed models. Still, that is great work, and you might even be able to get it licensed to a game company like Hasbro or another board game manufacturer. If you do publish this as a more standard game, I would suggest having the base game be the base, one each of the three trunk pieces, 12 light green play-pieces, and 12 dark green ones. Then you have two kinds of expansions: Leaf Expansions and Trunk Expansions. Leaf Expansions would be 24 more leaves in two colors, with some such as "Autumn" with reds and oranges, or "Cherry Blossom" with light and dark pink. Trunk Expansions would be listed by type of tree, so you would have "Oak" and "Palm" and so on, and it would come with all the parts needed to build the trunk of that tree, potentially with uniquely-colored pieces. The "Base" game would then just be a combination of an "Oak" trunk set and a "Forest" leaf set.
I love you your work, tabletop and 3D Printing. I bought it after I saw your update. Now I have to wait for my green filament to arrive. :D Thank you. And btw: The price is more than fair. Cheers man and all the best to you !
I saw your wooden version on short and was like what the heck is a tippy tree? I'm not disappointed this looks like so much fun and instead of being plain like Jenga it's pretty interesting and makes the brain juice flow more because of how complex the game can be buy how easy it is to play
Just wanted to comment on this again and say that I bought a few sets as Christmas presents and they just arrived! Super excited to play with friends and family.
This is really cool. This might belong in a toy store, a lot of people without printers might buy it. And best part is you only need the base, + 2 or 3 injection-molds for the entire game (leaves, trunk, maybe longer trunk), if that's a manufacturing method that works out.
