Iain - Thank you for yet another excellent video on the Miura. Currently have a '67 P400 (one of the first 100) and formerly a '71 SV . Rather that go through the detailed differences, I have to say that a huge difference is the very early 0.9 mm car is much, much more visceral. I have had both on race scales and even with the monstrous AC compressor off my '71, the car is 175-200 lbs heavier. But the real difference is not just the added mass of the more civilized, later cars... the very early cars (i.e., first 100 - 125) have a much lighter, intricate driven plate. The car revs more like a motorcycle, but clutch work with the low rotational inertia of the first cars was beyond the capabilities of the wealthy entertainment type people who originally bought the car. Dallara could explain exactly why they had to add more rotational inertia and somewhat deaden the response of the car. The early car jumps... anyone who has driven these early cars knows this... but certainly it is a more fragile car that one should look after.
Finally, the HP figures are indeed Italian fabrication. Bob Wallace said that all variants were around 325 real HP. Why? The Series II S and SV have 32 mm intake runners and Weber venturis versus the P400 and early S series are 30 mm. The answer is that available fuel Octane ratings were declining during the period of Miura production. Static timing advance went from 22 degrees (P400), 20 degrees (P400S) to 18 degrees (P400SV). The real horsepower is a wash, as later cars have more retarded timing. Regardless, all Miura owners should be using special fuel. Thanks again Iain.
Thanks 👍
This got to be coolest stuff of planet earth. And all 3 sitting next to each other in different colours. Gosh I'd love to see them in person.
There's much, I can say!!
I've had the pleasure of having been driven in the blue one and the Iso Grifo that was in the background. Both fantastic cars.
You can! But you’d have to hand over A Lot of Cabbage to Iain! 💴💴💴
If even Iain is excited...its something very, very special.
Everyone in the workshop was excited!
Iain is always excited sometimes he's just EXTRA
Iain's mood is quite the opposit of his mood on the first ride in Harry Metcalfe's Countach. 😂

8 Million dollars of the most beautiful cars in the world all under one roof .... amazing !!!!
Can you believe this content is free?
No graphics, music, cheesy thumbnails. Just high quality production and expertice. Bravo! Thank you, team.
I had the pleasure of seeing the first showing of the Miura at the Earls court motor show in 1967, It was tucked away in a side room with a couple of fiberglass bodied design studies (I think by Ogle?). For me it blew my mind as it was so different from all other cars on show! I was a body design apprentice with Rootes group at the time, and was on duty on their stand for the duration of the show. Every time I had off from stand duty I would go and view it & it has stuck in my mind as the single car that change sports (super)cars for ever!! I still have the original poster hanging in my office. (all sun bleached and faded)!
That lime green SV is the absolute pinnacle of automotive design and I’ll die on that hill.
Can't get enough of these wonderful Italian episodes
Being a classic car driver I abolutely adore your knowledge of detail and the way you present this in your videos. Fantastic.
I was a mechanic, sir, with Scanina, rgds Colin
If I say we all thoroughly enjoyed this, I can't imagine lying about it. When you told about Mr. Pagani giving praise for the detailed work on the blue Miura; it sent literal shivers down my spine. You have all the charisma, automotive knowledge, and a group of people around which a man can only dream of. You're setting an example for the modern gentlemen, you know that right? I wish you only good health so that people can listen to your stories and melt as you charm them for decades to come. And kind regards from beautiful northern Finland, Mr. Tyrrell.

Beautiful presentation, as always. The White Board stuff was brilliant! Three Very, VERY nice cars there! Just lovely. 👍 Great work!
I was in Rome in 1968. 18 years; old saw a Miura (Orange) on the road. The car was beat to hell and the guy driving it was sure enjoying it! Remember like it was yesterday!😅
The quality of Ian’s presenting rivals that of his restorations. Love the nerdiness too
To see one Miura is a rare privilege, let alone 3 in one place. Thanks for sharing 👍👍👍.
Hello Agian, Hello Iain, back in 1969 I watched 'The Itatian Job' at a cinema in Worcester (I was on holiday), I was 17, my friend's father saw the film a few weeks later, based on the film he placed an order for a Lamborghini Miura, I seem to remember it took many months to arrive, it was 'green', a real eye catcher back in Birmingham in1971. Love the detail of your 'vlogs'. Best regards. RichardA.
"Either that or I should be a good billiard's player"
Absolute Tyrrell rhetorical gold!
Thanks Iain, you are a national treasure as far as I'm concerned.
Iain, you may think yourself to be a lucky man to work with these cars. You are the embodiment of the quote, "the harder I work, the luckier I get." If I walked into your workshop, I think my head would fall off from spinning around to take in all the cars.
I could spend a whole day in that workshop walking around in awe!😍😍
Those colours are so 70s. Stunning looking cars.
Sunday night, and here I am, sat watching transfixed as Ian describes bump steer and the suspension mount differences of two beautiful Lamborghini Muiras! I feel like Ian is talking to me personally, as many years of knowledge, experience and automotive passion are narrated to me. A wonderful story teller, as well as one of the world’s finest car experts.
Lamborghini Miura P400S in Lima Green..... My Favourite Car EVER!!
There is simply no better automotive channel on the internet. Again, Iain, we are in your debt that we are allowed to see the inside of a very exclusive world!
What an absolute treat to see the three beautiful shades of Miura parked next to each other and to hear Iain's expert opinion on what made each car so special.
Always a good school day with Iain taking class.
For me, that was exactly what your channel is about. A depth of knowledge on these cars we can't get anywhere else on TH-cam. Thankyou.
I love the way Lamborghini went off the cliff with colors, especially in the SV range. I saw two Diablo SVs in Montreal; one pearl white with the SV in purple and one in a kind of metalllc peach with the SV in...gold. Damn, man.
The whiteboard was a great addition. Always good to hear about the nerdy differences between the models.
Iain, you're not sad to have this knowledge and senses. It's great that you're an anorak that we can learn from.
Nice video, as always.
I love Professor Tyrrell's lectures!
The traffic passing through this workshop is unreal. Giving myself a well deserved kick in the head for not snapping up a Grifo when they were forgotton rarities! And three perfect Muiras all lined up - this is how you stimulate an economy!
I remember the two part story of LJK Setright bringing the first Miura to the UK. One of his comments was that one of the rear tyres would rub noisily on the bodywork over really severe bumps.
Thank you again for posting such things. There’s few people that have access to such vehicles and the fact that you make it accessible to all of us is very generous of your time.
What a treat! It's great to see you just as excited as anyone of us would be in such exalted company, despite the fact you live with these unique cars day in and day out. By the way, I've spotted an Iso Grifo in the background; I hope you'll be able to feature that in an upcoming video!
Thank you - and stay tuned!
@@iain_tyrrell Why did they paint that beautiful Lamborghini Miura SV the same colour as the phlegm that I coughed up the last time I had bronchitis?
@@autodidact537 Hideous dayglo colours were all the rage during the 1970s.
Yes, please bring on the Grifo!
Love the color of your phlegm 😂
Iain’s Tech Talks are truly magnificent ! Love the subjects, they just pull you in. Bellissimo Mr.Tyrrell
Iain going Engineering Explained with the whiteboard, I think we've reached peak automotive channel, it can't get better than that!
I could happily watch and listen for hours on end!! More nerdiness please sir!
Dream car, wish to go out in one, it's a bucketlist I've yet to tick
Finally, an appropriate place to use the word "awesome!"
Thank you for another excellent video. This channel just keeps getting better and better. I appreciate how much time and effort you put into these, and that putting them out alongside running a business must be quite a feat.
Glad you enjoyed it!

That Green SV is simply stunning! Can't wait to see it back in Poland
When Iain warns of a nerdy video I’m already looking forward to watching it! I’m sold on that more than the thumbnail and that’s saying something.
I’ve always loved the Miura, though I’m just a shade to young to have had one as a poster on my bedroom wall. It is said LJK Setright from Car magazine was the first person to use the term supercar in his review of the Miura for said publication. He brought one of the early cars back from the factory to the U.K. for it’s lucky owner. I still love the iconic footage from the introduction to the Italian Job film and turn the volume up loud just to experience the noise of that wonderful V12 on the St Bernard Pass. Fascinating video Ian on the differences between the models and explaining the rear suspension setup was a delight; I love finding out about engineering like this. Great stuff.
Never apologise for being a nerd, love your productions, your passion, knowledge and enthusiasm. I've loved this car from being a child of about 10, thought it was the most beautiful car in the world then and still do. I have many Muiras in my nerds collection of model cars. Thank you for showing these cars to us mere mortals. Ps, the blue Jensen in the background is another all time favorite especially the FF, up there in my top ten.
The Miura SV is just, well there are no words, just Power and grace personified, there are no videos of the SV really doing what it does best, I.E running at real speed, I love it. It's in my top 10 list of cars, my favourite car is the 6.3 litre Aston Martin V8 Vantage x pack, from the 1980s, funnily enough my son and I wrote a letter and sent a drawing to Aston Martin of how we felt the new Aston Martin should be like and based on the 1977 Vantage but more aggressive and slightly sleeker in around 2003 saying that the new Aston Martin cars lacked the charisma of the 1977/80s Vantage etc, and low and behold they brought out the Aston Martin Victor, which has a striking resemblance of the drawing we sent Aston Martin, we still have the reply from Aston Martin which was so lovely, so I believe that manifestation works, as the car we invisioned has been created, a very strange feeling my son and I had when it was revealed, it makes one wonder lol. Anyway bit of a long story I know, but I thought I would share it. Thanks very much for your time
What a treat! This was very interesting. I really enjoy the stories about the details. The more nerdy, the better. The classic Lamborghinis are my favorite stars of this channel. The technical stuff, the anecdotes - I can't get enough of it 🙂
The whiteboard was a fantastic addition Iain, please do more! It complimented the good humour/witty asides very nicely. As for the Miuri (miura plural?😂) all drop dead gorgeous. That P400 interior…. wow!
P400 and S retain the designer purity of vision . Well done in getting all three models for the video shoot .
Wow. What a historical lineup. Amazing!
Another erudite and interesting presentation by Iain. For us Classic car enthusiasts who will probably never be in a position to own one of these fabulous cars, but love them!.The S is my favourite
The cars are one thing but your mechanical knowledge and sharing is highly appreciated. Please keep on sharing your insights on the mechanical aspects as well 🙌🏻
Stunning. Thank you Ian, a lovely production as always!
The P400 and P400S are so much more beautiful in styling than the SV. I just loved this episode ❤️
That's a wild statement. I think the SV is the prettiest of the lot.
The rear wheels being so tucked in on the P400 and S ruins the image, in my mind.
Must admit I like the SV, the greater aggression and the filling of the arches. Bit like an early E Type where from some angles the front wheels in particular disappear in to the arches too much
Each to their own. I much prefer the SV.
I agree with @godlyobject6509 said "The rear wheels being so tucked in on the P400 and S ruins the image, in my mind." So i'd say that the S, with 9 inch SV wheels is the best combo. I think that the SV presented on the video, with the wider 11 inch wheels is a bit too much.
@@dzefrejrulez yes indeed the SV looks more aggressive, I fully agree, but in my perspective the P400 and P400S look more cohesive in design.
The SV is the better car the others more beautiful so for everybody a choice 👍
Surely the most beautiful of all cars….
Wow! Now there's a view. Three brightly coloured unicorns sitting pretty, side by side. And Mr Lamborghini clearly had taste - Miuras don't look right without the eyelashes IMO.
Love Nerd School - I think you could easily do a second channel with that format, should you wish to/have the the time. More of that please!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
How is this possible, every week you up your game, outstanding! Should out to Harry for seeding the idea..
True mate I remember when Harry got Ian involved in getting he’s own channel so kudos to Harry.
The subtle shapes, the colors, has there ever been a more attractive car?

Prof Tyrrell's Sunday Sermon. Put this along with his other Lamborghini episodes in the national archives please:Thank you for another fabulous video.
What a Trio, unbelievable collection.
Love the nerdiness. Miura's are so aesthetically pleasing to the eye particularly the P400 and P400S - I could spend all day just looking at one. Iain, if you get an SVJ can you do a review of that car especially on the technical bits?
You bet!
Well............This made my day. Outstanding video, very informative and interesting. *Thank you Iain!* How very lucky you are Iain to work in such an art gallery each day!
This was the perfect Iain Tyrell video! I've always wanted someone, somewhere to make this exact video showing us the differences between them. And of course, who else would provide it? Many thanks for this one. It deserves to be widely seen.
Glad you liked it!
Still my favorite car. I was fortunate to drive chas. 3955 in the 70's. That was a yellow RHD car delivered new to Rhodesia. Yes Iain, please talk for hours about the cars you work on.
Utterly gorgeous
You must be a very special mechanic, because you have the best, most precious cars coming to you; you have my respect. 👍
The amount of information and passion one can get out of these videos is just amazing!....
As an owner of a Jaguar XJR, a Maserati Quattroporte IV and a Maserati 222 SE, I am probably never able to buy a 60's Ferrari or Lamborghini but still I enjoy the in depht knowledge You provide.
My God that SV is so aggressive from that rear, wish I could have great vid.
The whiteboard was a brilliant touch! I love a good nerd session. That's what I enjoy about this channel. Most can garner 80% of knowledge from the "google" the last 20% is incarnate. Thank you Ian and crew!
Thank you Iain for the nerdy thats what we all love.
IMHO the Miura has to be in the top 3 of beautiful looking cars ever.
Many things might have been better ""baaack in myyy daaay", but the access to and quality of this type of "nerdy" information and entertainment most assuredly is not one of them.
And I can' thank Mr.Tyrrell and his employees enough for sharing their knowledge and craft with us this way.
Best regards
Beautiful restorations Iain.
@Iain, please “spout on” as much as you can. This is why I subscribe to this channel - the vast amount of nerdy knowledge that only can be acquired through time and utter dedication! Thank you so much. I love it ❤
I have always been a Porsche fan, but I have to admit that the Miura is the most beautiful piece of automotive art ever.! Full stop.
I could listen all afternoon. Thanks, Iain!
I had a die cast model in the green colour when I was a kid its still fantastic
A Miura was my first (I think matchbox car) they must have been almost brand new then.
Love this level of detail, brilliant, as always. Many thanks Iain and team.

Thank you!

Brilliant video, Iain. I’m not at all mechanically minded but I love listening to your explanations… I’ve always loved the Miura but to see the 3 generations together was amazing, especially when every other dream car of mine is hiding in the background of your video …
The Lines on this car is absolutely Stunning !! one of the best looking cars ever . Hypnotizing !

Brilliant nerdy stuff as usual. I was laughing at the whiteboard moment when I wondered what's Iain drawing lol?
It's high praise when Mr Pagani compliments your work and I think most would agree it looks spectacular in the baby blue colour.
I hope you get the chance to drive them on video.
Just amazing, I never really appreciated the Miura until Iain’s videos and enthusiasm came into my life, all three cars are just so jaw droppingly beautiful, rebuilt and restored to absolute perfection by by Iain and his team. To have all 3 in the garage together says rather a lot about the respect the owners have for Iain’s work, they are the custodians, Iain owns them and loves them like his children. Passion sums it up, SV would be my choice, the interior of the gen one car is gorgeous. Congratulations Iain, you have every right to be proud.
I am in heaven - the Miura is my favourite car of all time.
Delighted you enjoyed it.

The most beautiful car ever made.
This channel is like crack for classic car lovers. I just can't get enough of it. Thanks so much for taking the time to make these wonderful videos.
Unbelievable, three of the most beautiful cars under one roof and each one a progression one from the last. It’s the SV for me but of course that’s just a dream and it will never be more than that but with Iain’s help it’s easier to visualise. Wonderful video, thank you.
Great watch Sir
And what a lesson on the whiteboard!
Interesting Lamborghini had no Fog Lights on SV!
I've found your old videos and put them in a queue to watch on weekend!
Best from me Down Under in Middle Earth!
Very interesting. Thank you Iain for sharing a little of your knowledge about the Miura. They are truly such beautiful pieces of automotive design.
What a sight!
Please Iain include more of the professor work on the whiteboard, absolutely brilliant knowledge sharing. 👏 thanks for all you do.
Pure gold !
As always, a delightful and informative presentation. Been looking forward to this one for a while, nice to see the S and SV finished!
The early P400 will always be my favourite variant, purely from an aesthetic point of view - Slender profile, wheels nicely tucked under the perfect 'flip' to the wheel-arches, black exterior trim details that beautifully compliment the bright colours (Giallo Miura with Blu interior would do nicely, thank you very much!), even the crude vinyl trim of the early cars has a certain charm. By contrast, the lines of the SV have a somewhat bloated appearance, lacking the purity of the original design, although certainly no less amazing to behold. The P400 with all its quirks and imperfections still epitomizes the 1960s for me.
I had a brief opportunity to sit behind the wheel of that particular SV at the RM auction in Arizona a few years ago, when it was red/tan and shortly before it was entrusted to you for restoration. It looks a million times better now and I'm sure the owner will be very happy!
Eagerly anticipating your next Miura video. 😎
As you said, Mr. Tyrrell, drop-dead gorgeous! You did also teach me a nice part about wishbones.
Stunning line up 🥰
A real education as always, Iain! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!
