I think the reason for no auto engage clutch with this real is because the big heavy handle might flop forward during the cast and engage and break you off. Just s thought.

@@Fishin203 the higher end reels dont have auto engage to limit the amount of moving parts that can break

Bobby Monroy oh dude I have no clue lol I haven’t been up to date with shimano in a while. What I’m assuming is the N stands for narrow spool so maybe that’s something new they recently came out with. Don’t quote me on that tho

Mychal Cummings holds 375 yards of 40 pound braid. So you got plenty of room for backing too
how is the reel holding up?
Paddle Tales awesome! It's like it was when I took it out of the box but the white handle is already getting a little dirty
Fishin203 For Yellow tail and White sea bass will I be OK with this reel or should I get the 16a? also what line should I put on this reel?
Paddle Tales it's all about personal preference. I guarantee you the 14 will be able to hold up to both, but for added security your gunna get a little more weight but 8 pounds more drag with the 16
How is this reel with casting ?

Ephraim Campos 2 completely different reels. For smoothness and ease of use? Yes
I’m looking for a decent reel for strippers, tuna, black fish, blue fish and looking at accurate, Trinidad, and seigel reels
Just go with what you can afford when it comes down to it. They’re all great reels just every one is kind of it’s own animal. The valiants great for a nice smooth twin drag especially the 400 size. And the Trinidad’s are a lot of money super smooth everything but the drag is on anything less than a size 16a is only 17 pounds
Fishin203 money ain’t a problem but im type new to the fish game , this will be my first conventional reel and I’m really liking the accurate reels. As far as ur experience which one do U like the best
Ephraim Campos well if you’re new to this and you don’t mind spending money I’d definitely go with the Trinidad. The 14a I have will handle ANYTHING from stripers to blackfish to fluke and is sharp looking and a pleasure to fish with. The valiants take some getting used to with the constant manual drag changing
