    I think his impartial witnessing to the World and just writing songs that represent the issues and show compassion for the reality of good and evil in the world is what makes him so unique. Everybody inherits flaws and stereotypes and the only thing you can do is be aware of how you think. To question is the only way you can rise above it.

    @ 4:05 ... where he talks about the Black elders vs. the Black youth. that's soooo true & it needs 2 be addressed. The elders deserve respect & have 2 much wisdom they don't pass along 2 the coming generations. But Black youth should know their strongest supporters comes from those who walked in their shoes b 4 them. There's definitely a disconnect that must be rectified.

    Don't know if it was intentional or not, but earlier in the vid he said one way to get rid of racism was to not teach history involving racism. Then says that its not gonna happen because we have to much pride (that comes from history).
    Later in the video, he says that he loves the word ni**a and that he disagrees with Al Sharpton in abolishing the word because the word represents his history.
    He just more or less proved what he said in the first part of the video.

    • @kingdavid8657
      @kingdavid8657 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea i was just about to say this. I'm a big Lupe Fiasco fan but he definitely contradicted himself in this video.

    • @fmiller36
      @fmiller36 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah... Lupe is an idiot. He got his ass handed to him on national television by Bill O, and then proceeded to break down over Chief Keef's retarded twitter taunts. As weak and as unintelligent as they come.
      To address his non-"points", here. 1.) Racism, sexism, ethnocentrism, classism or any other ''ism'' will not be overcome by ignoring the history of these isms or by teaching the next generation that they never existed. In fact, by doing so you are merely setting these same groups up to repeat history again as their sole tool towards socio-economic mobility (education) is now snatched out from under them, leaving them more disenfranchised than before.
      What Lupe doesn't understand is that the way you get past ''Racism'' is to both fix things at the institutional level, and educate at the personal level. Then and only then can racism of both the private and public sphere be corrected. Anything short of that is guaranteed disaster. Which is why every country with a significant minority population in the Western Hemisphere has failed it's previously enslaved and oppressed minorities.
      As you pointed out, this dumb guy's logic is so flawed that it even fails right in the very same damn interview! Morons like this don't know what to think but they continue to talk mainly because like the sound of their own voice.

    • @fmiller36
      @fmiller36 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Imran Sa'id
      What is there not to be understood? Lupe Fiasco contradicts his own pretentious talking points, is that not what you wrote?
      I simply expounded on WHY he contradicts:
      Lupe's claim is that the only way to get rid of racism is to not touch up on its history and therefore the populace will naturally ''forget about it''. But then turns around and critiques Sharpton for utilizing the exact same logic in his attempt at trying to ''abolish'' the N word. Sharpton's being that if we stop using the N word, the populace would also overtime naturally ''forget about it'' and its racist usage would dwindle.
      Both perspectives come from the same place!:
      _Let's bury our head in the sand about our problems, and eventually we will all forget about our problems!_
      Of course, Lupe can only realize how flawed this perspective is when it's coming out of the mouth of someone other than himself. He, like most people, can't see the fact that his his and Sharpton's simplistic POV are really the same thing.

    i totally agree. wish there were more positive thinkers like you. i am white but my boyfriend is african and experiences a lot of racism here in the US by both african americans and whites. i spent a lot of time working with kids in africa and come back to face racism here as a white person with a black man in a black neighborhood. its a difficult situation for everyone... but yes we need to expand our horizons. thx!

    He had traveled to Mecca and learned that people of all cultures could exist in harmony together, worship and pray together, and positively impact the world together - changed his whole worldview. Again, this is why they had to go. Together we stand, divided we fall. Because both leaders were realizing this and could have potentially led people to solidarity (“WE are the 99%”) against the powers that be (1%), they were feared. And murdered.

    Straight up, Fiasco!
    Brother Malcolm X, after he went for the Hajj Pilgrimage to Mecca in 1963/64 and became a Mainstream Muslim, did change his opinion drastically. Because he saw the "Blackest of Blacks" standing shoulder to shoulder the "Whitest of Whites"
    He pushed for cooperation with those who wished well for the Afro-American community, including Whites.
    Malcolm X (RIP) was right on.

    he never meant that he wanted a new generation to forget the past so that racism would stop, he said that that would be the only way racism could stop, he made the point that it was and is necessary in making people become themselves, aspiring to greatness or falling into their own darkness. Just listen and respect another person giving their opinion, and if you disagree you can explain your own opinion, dont emphasis your disagreements take the time and use ur energy to tell people what u think
