    Polaris Defense launched of the DAGOR ultra-light combat vehicle, at the 2014 Association of the United States Army Annual Meeting, in Washington, D.C., Oct. 13-15. The DAGOR was designed and tested, and is now under contract and in production - all in less than two years - leveraging Polaris' world class off-road engineering and design capability, to meet an emerging threat to SOF and light infantry forces.

    For the record, since everyone's joking about this being a barrel to put fish in, THIS IS NOT A COMBAT VEHICLE. It's meany for reconnaissance, and SOMETIMES a quick hit-and-run. The guns are mostly self-defense- something to suppress the enemy with while the driver hauls ass in the opposite direction.

      The type of Vehicle highly mobile Special Forces generally use.
      They are not supposed to need Armour. They get mixed up in a big fire fight they have stuffed up. Mobility is there key weapon. Reconnaissance and at most a quick hit and run on a specific target. Surprise is the key.
      The way most SAS Forces operate. Smart!
      Not normal USA way of thinking.

    They need to make a small pickup for regular people to buy and be able to drive on public roads

    I know this is not available for the public but there would be such a market for it something that’s in between the size of a razor and a Toyota pick up/4runner this vehicle easily could put over landing to the next level

    Even after the lesson learned from OIF and OEF, where is the protection from IEDs, VBIEDs, and shrapnel? it's fast and lightweight, but it looks high risk. Having hybrid ones would be a big help for night operations to.

      The cost is high because of R&D expense and, also the limited production run of this vehicle.

      That's a great question because a-lot of people wonder why they aren't armored and the reason is because they are usually used for long range recon missions and not for getting into fire fights. The weapons mounted are usually for defensive purposes. They went for speed, agility, and mobility with these so they can get them into areas where normal armored humvees and other vehicles cant go because of weight and agility. They are used by a-lot of special forces along with atv's and dirt bikes. I am not 100 percent sure which ones but I know these can fit inside certain aircraft but im not sure about helicopters. There are videos on youtube of special forces flying with Chinook helicopters filled with ATV's and dirt bikes to go do a recon mission that's far away but they don't want the noise of the helicopters to disturb anything in the target area. They definitely serve a purpose for a-lot of missions but certainly doesn't work for everything. I'll copy the link for the helicopter video with the atv's and dirt bikes so you can see what I was talking about. Hope this info helps! th-cam.com/video/F5ubyko8mI0/w-d-xo.html

    You keep asking for armor and weapons being impractical this is basically just an updated willys the design worked before it will work again but the price is ridiculous

    with no military experience , only armchair expertise , as some guy called me
    i see 3 problems with this vehicle
    1 ) price and weight are the same as the Hummer H1 , even if that is civilian version
    2 ) live axle shaft can get hit and twist like a spaghetti
    3 ) has no place for rear gunner to watch the back , 1 gunner is not enough anyway

    • @MrChickennugget360

      its primary function is to be light weight and small enough to fit into a CH-47.

    • @thefallguy7255
      @thefallguy7255 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. at 4500 lbs, it is less than half the weight of an Humvee. yes, cost is high but he never specifies what the price is, only that it is lower than $150k. It is important to remember that this vehicle is aimed more at special forces, seals, etc than your average infantryman.
      2. solid axles are strong, simple, and cheap. While a well though independent suspension may be able to outperform a solid axle, you can't beat a solid axle when it comes to payload and strength to weight.
      3. the machine gun is moveable and totally modular. Just because it is set up that way at the show, doesn't mean that's how it will be used in the field

    • @LegacyIvyTerascale
      @LegacyIvyTerascale 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      but for rock crawling , it'll need spare drive shafts
      for the innevitable situation when the mounted one will twist and curve
      like a spaghetti

    • @thefallguy7255
      @thefallguy7255 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Adrian Fidi not if the suspension has proper geometry. Look at the vehicles of Moab, solid axles way outnumber independent systems. Besides, you don't do a lot of rock crawling in the military

    weak points for me:
    1. Armour, if have self protection armour= weight and if have weight: have less tactical speed and range.
    2. Box type body: perfect to mines and dirty bombs weapons.
    3. Speed.
