When we bought our bikes last year one of our goals is to travel to New places and if necessary to spend the night, see the sites and ride a new trail. Last year we made our way up to Blacksburg, VA a 6 hr drive, saw some friends and rode the Huckleberry Trail. Great trail!
Didn't know the city expanded the Greenway north under I-20. Left in 2011. Trail follows the old Georgia & Florida railway line which terminated in Greenwood S.C. I can still remember seeing rail wagons being put in and out of storage when the S.C. spur was used back in the late 60's. The cage bridge used to be an old wooden trestle that the North Augusta High Schoolers would hang signs on over Martin Town Rd. taunting the current opposing high school football team being played that week. Of course the city leaders put a stop to that by caging the bridge after one class tried to keep up the tradition after the trestle was replaced. Never thought little old N.A. would be on YT. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Thanks for this video - and all your others! We are new retirees to the Greenville area and I will be making notes - and taking some day-trips to many of these bike rides. Also - appreciate you making these videos “Joyful.” Now, I’m a new subscriber! Keep on pedalin’!
Thank you for the great video. To answer your question, I have driven up to 1,000 miles to ride the Empire State Trail, the Great Allegheny Passage, the Virginia Creeper, the Katy Trail, and others from my home in southeast Georgia. It certainly depends on how long the trail is, but thanks to this video, I would drive the 2.5 hours from my house to ride the N. A. Greeneway Trail. I'm so glad you included the view of the abandoned G&FRR at the end of your video. I am a member of the non-profit organization, G&F Trail, Inc, whose mission is to promote conversion of the entire Geor
Wow! That's cool that you have that connection with the G&F. And some of the trails you mentioned are on my list to get to one day. Retirement comes in about 4 years!
You make me laugh several times on each video. I pulled the ripcord on religion 20 years ago, but I respect your subtle way of expressing your faith. Rock on sir.
Thank you! I have sort of pulled the rip cord on “organized” religion myself due to disappointments surrounding a unwanted divorce (following a lengthy marriage). I’ll figure things out…eventually…
Thank you for showcasing my beautiful home town, I've lived here for 55 years and it's just a great community to be a part of. The Sprint convenience store is where the Greeneway originated from many years ago and has expanded over the years to include the Savannah Riverfront area and SRP Park. I've always found it beneficial living on the border of 2 states, North Augusta SC provides the close home town feel but Augusta GA offers great shopping, delicious restaurants, higher wages and provides excellent healthcare in the many hospitals located downtown in the "medical district".
Thank you for sharing this park! I live in Sanderville Ga. about an hour away from Augusta-retired & my husband is about to be retired…so how far we will travel to be in nature… I don’t know😂! What’s the best resort on the beach in Alabama? Got some more traveling to do!
Here is your lady again! 🤭 I would drive about 3 hours to go to a cool bike trail. My kids and I loooooove bike trials! 😎🥳 Just love your personality! 🥰 Stay blessed and keep up the great work! 💯
Oh, to answer your question, I would actually travel from South Florida to Idaho so I could ride the Hiawatha trail. It just has to be on every cyclists' bucket list. I would of course look for other interesting trails to stop and ride on my way there. I am impressed with the quality of your videos.
Hey there, we really enjoyed this video! The trail seems so serene and tranquil. Regarding the "Alligator warning sign", funny coincidence, in our "neck of the woods" we also have warning signs. However, ours say "Zombie Warning"! "Be Zombie Safe", do not approach, Feed or Harass the Zombies!🧟 🧟♀. Lol, I figure it just depends on where you live as to what "wildlife" you might find... Keep going Scott, we love watching!
Great videos, I have done road cycling since I was in HS. I lived in North Augusta for a fee years of my childhood. Attended kindergarten and half of my first grade year. My dad ran the National Hill Theater, and loved Schwartz Pizza in the same shopping center. Have not been back to the area in 40+ years. Currently live a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Roan Mountain.
Great video, thanks for sharing! We moved to North Augusta specifically because of the wonderful Greeneway. BTW you'll have to come back soon- they just finished a wonderful paint job of fishes and turtles taking up the entire inside of the first tunnel you went through. :)
I definitely need to come back! In fact, I need to do a proper trail review of the Augusta Canal Trail across the river...so maybe I'll hit the NAG again while I'm there. Waiting for cooler weather! Thanks for watching...
@@joyfultrails for sure! You can actually ride from the end of the Greeneway across the river bridge to the end of the canal trail now. (But in 2025 they're starting work to upgrade the car bridge and add a 6ft wide bike lane!)
North Augusta, SC, is a great place to call home! What a lovely review this is, of my city's Greeneway Trail! I agree with all the good things you had to say, and will add that, had you looked a bit longer in Brick Pond Park, you would have seen the maybe 10 foot gator that lives there too! Thank you for visiting again!
We live in Illinois and have traveled as far as Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida to ride our recumbent trikes, usually with a group. Thanks for the videos, looks like North and South Carolina are on the list for our next trike trip.
Great video! I'm subscribing to your channel based on your description of the NAG. I agree that there's an aura of peace and tranquility that I've not found on any other greenway. I'll travel 4 hours or more for a great ride. Your videos help. Keep up the great work!
Great video and great trail! In answer to your question, I would probably drive a couple of hours to ride the sort of trails that you normally highlight on your channel.😊
I really enjoy your style of making Videos.. I've biked the NSG Trail a few times.. Savannah River Waterfront is beautiful from both sides.. To answer your question I feel 2 to 2 1/2 hours is about as far as I will travel whether it's a trail, greenway or a Meetup.. Being from Charlotte, NC we are close to a lot of places.. If it's any further I would overnite it.. Lots of Great Greenways in Raleigh.. Neuse River & American Tobacco Trail.. both have many spur trail.. If you do Neuse River start in Clayton, NC great town..
I'm getting ready to retire and hope to visit many of the bike trails in surrounding states. I live in WVa and currently ride the North Bend Rail Trail and the Greenbrier River Trail. My past trips have taken me only two hours away from home at most. That's about to change. I really enjoyed your video on the Virginia Creeper Trail and plan to do that in October.
Well, that could be another one for our bucket list. Thank you for the video. By the way, I have to tell you you do a really good job with them. Well done, sir. New subscriber as I just found you.
Great video, nice scenes, music and audio. I live right across the Savanah River and for the life of me I haven't been able to find my way to the N.A. SC Greenway. It's currently high 90's with heat indexes in the 100's. I'll wait on a cool morning & go looking for it again. Great job, keep 'em coming.
Nice video . I never really thought about how far I’m willing to travel for a trail . I think it’s largely gonna be based on length . My average rides are about 30 -40 miles . I’d probably travel up to 100 miles for a decent trail even if it’s short .
New subscriber: I enjoy your videos and they are very well done. I wanted to answer your question about how far would you travel to ride a bike trail?? Well....I live in Greenville SC so I would travel a few miles to the Swamp Rabbit and Doodle Trails! I have traveled to the Spanish Moss Trail in Beaufort and now because of your videos I plan on travelling to N Augusta to ride this trail and North to the Creeper! That being said I bike tour so I have driven to Cincinnati to ride the Ohio to Erie Trail, Pittsburg to ride the Great Allegheny Passage, to St Louis and Amtrak to Kansas City to ride the Katy Trail! Thanks for your Videos and wish everyone happy, joyful trails!!
LOVE this video! Depending on the length of the trail (yes, we are trail snobs - but let me explain!) we will drive anyway from 1 - 1.5 hours if we can do it in one day. If it is a longer trail we probably would drive a little further and stay overnight. We have traveled all over the country riding trails making it our vacation and loving it! BTW - in the opening of your video I IMMEDIATELY noticed that Greenway was spelled wrong and could not believe you did catch that BUT then came the explanation! Keep up the great work - very entertaining, informative, spiritual and just feel good videos!!!
